It seems all there is for sims lately are winter scenes and all I see outside is a winter scene. It was brutally cold today, so I put on a sweater in RL and found this very cozy one that Kitt Ragu is releasing at Shiny Shabby (opening the 20th). Made for both men and women, the sweater comes in several colors with an underlying shirt if you would like it. I forewent that version and put on a little scarf I found in my inventory from xxRyvenxx and found great little low-cost boots from Senzati0n Domenitzo at The Dressing Room. My jeans were released by Paul Lapointe a bit ago but work so well with the Maitreya body and so many different looks. They come with a brilliant texture change HUD allow different jean colors, pockets and belt and metal colors, though I went with the standard classic color and look.

OK, I admit I stole the hat from Karla Marama’s hair at Hairology. I will find a way to show the actual hair but it conflicted with the sweater, so I opted for Carina Larsen’s hair for the upcoming Shiny Shabby instead. It’s a cute short cut with fringy bangs and a lot of personality. I have once again opted to try an Omega applier on the GA:EG Adriana head, this time putting on Aida Ewing’s skin applier, which she made for the Logo heads but is on an Omega applier so can be used on this head too. I have tested a few Logo appliers and the skin makers, of course, want to have the skin suit the face shape, so when the skin is put on this shape, it can look measurably different and sometimes quite “off.” Aida’s skin looked pretty good and when I applied the add-on makeups, I think the result was quite nice, especially with Aida’s pretty freckles.

Infinity

Art in Hats, benefiting the American Diabetes Association, opened with a plethora of headwear for the stylish avatar, including this hat shaped in a bent lemniscate, which resembled to me, the infinity sign (∞). It’s an elegant, chic headpiece that combines well with the straps echoed in my dress and shoes. The dress, which is an attempted fit to the Maitreya body (close enough), is one of Mariska Simon’s newest, with a lace tied back and a great number of colors for your choice of sexy club wear. The glass platform heels from Azlyn Vaher include a HUD that allows the heart enclosed in the glass to be turned off or on and a sexy tied ankle.

Mea Carnell’s beautiful leather flowered necklace provides a soft point to another otherwise sort of extreme look. I applied Aida Ewing’s recently LeLutka applier release, chose her chic eye and lip makeup and then used Thora Charron’s great hairbase applier and ponytail to complete this very sleek, very chic look.

I love this song from Patti Smith, a gruff sweet song for an edgy look with its own bit of sweetness. The 100 Block opened yesterday and there are a ton of great looks at the “garage sale” they are putting on. Every exclusive item is marked down 20% or more. Like this hoodie mini-dress from Cynthia Ultsch, that is available in four colors and includes a HUD to texture the dress in different configurations, including the ties. The dress is made for standard sizes AND mesh body sizes. My boots are also from 100 Block, and they are Tatyana Ultsch’s offer, available in a ton of colors and also with a HUD to change looks up. They are custom mesh from Tatyana and yes, have been made for mesh bodies, including the Maitreya body. (Don’t they fit well?)

I am wearing the Aria mesh head from LeLutka because Aida Ewing recently came out with makeup appliers for the head, and I wanted the chance to swap up a new look. Several in the collection are very specialized and avant garde, but this look is perfect for our tough girl with glossy red lips and smoky eyes. Ikira Frimon is featuring this darling braided ‘do with blunt-cut bangs at 100 Block, edgy enough for this look but cute enough to take the edge off our tough girl.

Caught in the Wild

As it’s known, sometimes I am too lazy to do my own blog so I pull in another avatar who has a fabulous look to stand in for me. Today I feature the avatar Omenapu, who so kindly offered to pose for me and write something up.

She is a tribal elf, wandering the demilitarized territory between two great civilizations. Stealing and hunting to make a living, and rarely mixing with humanity.

Much of this outfit was created by the masterful Pucca Firecaster, whose texturing and design of all things fantasy is second to none. And just begs to be layered and mixed.

 

Don’t be afraid to play with attachments and mix-and-match accessories to achieve a style. Custom tinting is very easy to do on moddable items and can be all you need to tie an outfit together.

I tend to use only moddable items when making an outfit in SL. Very often, I will see a particular part of an item that I like, but do not necessarily care to use the whole item. I’ll edit a face and make parts invisible, and link and attach things in places for which they were not designed, just to get that certain je ne sais quoi.

A Tourist at Home

I am so ready for a vacation. I have been running the website over at SL11B, posting the schedules and slurls and blog posts and then running around and enjoying the sights, being a tourist at home, as it were. I found the Oceania parcel that Harlequin Rhode and Nephelle Lanate built, which was a perfect site for showing off this amazingly glamorous mesh bathing suit from Zaara Kohime that she is featuring at Summerfest. In Zaara’s inimitable style, the suit is gathered in the middle in a vintage styling made modern and the silhouette, a mesh made by Zaara, is sexy but not crass. Zaara has also made beautiful bejeweled sandals with an Indian influence to be worn with Slink flat feet.

Belle Roussel is celebrating the summer as well with this luxe jewelry set she is offering at the Summer Fashion Festival. With Belle’s characteristic animated gems to represent light sparkling off the facets and her multiple attachments to allow versatility in styling, the pieces make my simple swimsuit more elegant. I am keeping the sun off with a hat by Vivienne Darcy at the Art in Hats even Quan Lavender organized to benefit Feed a Smile. The pairing of hats with photos was ingenious though I found even better was the idea a few designers had of being inspired by RL art, as they do at my museum’s Art in Bloom each year. A portion of each sale of a hat helps feed a child in Kenya so while you enjoy wearable art, you are also giving a child nourishment.

My hair, which I love, is one of the newest from Shylah Honey and Tommy Fairplay. I really like the blonde texture but even more, I love how they made the mesh fall across the front in tendrils as real life hair does. It’s a very subtle difference from other mesh hair but I noticed it right away. Aida Ewing is offering this luminous skin at creation.jp and it’s lovely with a few innovative makeups for different sorts of looks, but I wore this one with its luscious pink lips and blush.

Paradise sounds good to me if it includes lazy afternoons on a sun-dappled lanai on a beach. Sway Dench has created the lovely hut and Balinese parasol I show here with the sitting cushions for a lovely beach scene, now available at Liaison Collective.

With Zlyskritek’s ruffled bikini, I am enjoying the sun (including sunscreen) and taking a much needed rest from all the hustle and bustle of June in SL. I took a trip over to the Thrift Shop, where I found this bikini and the cute purple watch I wear, though really, on vacation, should I be wearing a watch at all? Senzati0n Domenitzo’s darling sandals, which she has at Fashion for Life, are an almost naked alternative to common flip flops and show off my pedicure from Zozicon nicely (which is another exclusive at Fashion for Life).

Fashion for Life doesn’t just have modern dress, you can also find romantic pieces. That’s the thing with FFL—all designers willing to make the donation to have a store are accepted. This way, it’s a group effort by anyone willing to give to Relay for Life and American Cancer Society without exclusivity. So a beautiful old-fashioned dress like this one, which has been made by Bodza Mubble. She has combined a great mesh corset with system pieces and flexi to create this lovely look for fantasy or role play. I gamboled about in the parks at FFL Voyage, enjoying Jara Lowell’s lovely build.

My skin is Aida Ewing’s new gorgeous work for Collabor88 with lovely brows, expressive eyes and of course, the gorgeous lips she always has. Fashion for Life starts in a few days and now the bloggers are going to flood the sims, showing shots of the beautiful builds. Barnesworth Anubis was kind enough to answer my desperate call at the beginning of all this and he built this gorgeous sim with canals to match our travel theme. He has suspended a hot air balloon tethered to the ground (which somehow I got into—go figure). All of Barnes’ buildings have been redone in mesh for this show. Thank you, Barnes.

My absolutely gorgeous dress is Lavea Alter’s exclusive for Fashion for Life. I think you’ll be seeing this one all over the grid because of the gorgeous colors and silhouette. It’s elegant and sexy all at once. I just loved wearing it while I toured the sims. My shoes are also exclusives for Fashion for Life from Senzati0n Domenitzo, who has switched over to making her sexy shoes for Slink feet. My elegant jewelry is Kathrin Dassin’s lovely set for Fashion for Life. Remember, this year ALL sales donate a percentage to RFL, so anything you purchase will go to the bottom line. I am not covering my ears here because I want you to tell me something good. I will tell YOU something good. LacunaInc have put out these absolutely drop dead sexy separates at My Attic this month, and wow. I love how LacunaInc uses bold graphics to get her point across, combining them with great easy silhouettes. She cleverly sells these separately, so if you want to mix and match with other pieces or change up the colors, you can.

My shoes are also something good I can tell you about though considering how late I am blogging this, you might get mad at me. They are one of the two pairs Eku Zhong is featuring for the 21 Shoe this month. (I really hate this one-day-only sale thing but what are you gonna do? Call it 21 and 22 Shoe? Hm….) You have to drop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and run to her store to get the shoes if it’s still the 21st. They are sexy, fashionable and gorgeous.

My hair is Kattington’s newest for Kustom 9, a great poofy rockabilly-inspired updo with shaved sides. I chose to wear a hairbase from Maddox DuPont and eyeliner from Shyla Diggs to lend a little more edginess to the look. Big bold earrings with texture change from Ryca Doobie (the biggest in big earrings in SL) and of course, Aida Ewing’s bright red lips on her skin for Collabor88. Hope I told you something good. Pink Punk

A pink punk princess is today’s look, made so by Datrip Blackbart’s fascinating dress made for Fashionart. With a metal framed peplum skirt over a zebra-striped and rose bud black mini, the dress is a juxtaposition of textures and ideas and overall, a success. I love the modified halter top of the dress, the colors, the idea of metals and fabrics and sequins, and yet it all goes together, unified by the color pink. GraceHaddington’s versatile handbag, being sold also at Fashionart, has a 60 Pantone color HUD. Senzati0n Domenitzo is offering these terrific strappy shoes at Fashionart with six colors on the HUD and they fit Slink feet. Yay!

I dressed up Aleida Rhode’s intense new skin with pretty pink lips and prim glittering eyeshadow from Aida Ewing. (Yes, mesh eyeshadow!) Chiaki Xue’s newest boy hair makes the look with her great pink hairbase. The hair is what turns the princess into a pink punk and makes her sleek and edgy.
