I am in a small rut so I am going to skip writing about fashion today so I can shake it loose with some other thoughts. I have been thinking a lot about men lately, specifically men I like and men I don’t like because I keep hearing them on podcasts I listen to.
Men I Like Lots:
John Dickerson—He’s my age, an amazing writer, a great wonk, and makes poll statistics sexy. Sometimes he brings David Plotz in line and he gives youth to Face the Nation (which sorely needs it—someone make Bob Schieffer retire, please).
Roman Mars—His is the absolutely purringly sexy voice of the podcast, 99% Invisible. When he said he lusted after Andrea Seabrook, my pining began. I love a sexy-voiced man who likes smart Midwestern women.
Joe Morelli—I blame this on Nave and Kimmera, who convinced me to start reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Her on and off boyfriend in the series, he is a smoking hot Italian bad boy turned good. Well casted here. Num!
Men I Don’t Like So Much:
Stephen Metcalf—He can be such a little whiny meanie to Dana and Julia during the Slate Culture Gabfest. I mean, dude, lay off Dana—she’s nice.
Robin Hilton—I would have Bob Boilen’s babies but not Robin Hilton’s—and this is why: He calls taking care of his kid when his wife is out “babysitting.” It’s his damn kid. It’s PARENTING. And he’s whiny.
Brett Favre—He’s whiny.
