And she was fair as is the rose in May. ~ Geoffrey Chaucer
A girl as lovely as a rosebud. This is the first idea that came to me when I put on the new mesh hybrid head from Shirousagi Noel, which is premiering at Skin Fair. A Japanese designer, Shirousagi has created a mesh head appropriate for you who like a more innocent look. With that special aesthetic that comes from Japanese pop culture, our girl is blushing and pretty. The face is animated to smile with lips parting to sweet little teeth and tongue and soft long blinks showing pretty lashes. It’s a gorgeous face (though it greatly resembles my pretty 11 year-old cousin, so I was having a little personal “uncanny valley” syndrome).
Of course, the lovely dress from OneBadPixel adds to the charm of the skin with it’s slinky silhouette and lovely rose texture. The colors compliment this skin tone so beautifully, I didn’t want to add much more to the look except my bare feet from Gospel Voom (easily manually matched to the Snow Rabbit skin).
There are a few things to say about the mesh head. First, comparing it to the Logo mesh head by Maximillion Grant, which I can not resist doing, I see a couple differences. First of all, the HUD is much more compact and sits at the top of the screen rather innocuously, so the view is not obscured. Second, as a result of moving the functions of the HUD from a graphical to a textual interface, Shirousagi relies a lot more on blue screen menus (in the upper right hand corner), drilling down through menus to change different aspects of the face.
For some reason, those changes to do not rez as quickly as the Logo face, which I can’t fathom. I am guessing the graphics are at a higher resolution. [Note: The Logo head does NOT have lower resolutions. Instead the scripting preloads textures so when you switch around, they show instantly.] Either way, you are given a choice of several eye makeups (not quite as many as Logo’s) with textual descriptions, several blushes, a handful of lip colors, eyelash variations, and the choice to turn on the beauty mark. You can also set the eyes to one position and I would hope, turn the mouth and blinking animation off (though I never figured this one out).
One cool feature is the ability to choose different eye colors for the two eyes and tinker with the iris and pupil sizes. The blink lasts rather a long time—frustrating for a photographer but quite nice for an animated face in SL.
My favorite part of this mesh head is the face itself. Though it is very young looking, the artistry on it is absolutely lovely especially in the lips and mouth. Shirousagi chose lovely pastels for the makeups, which will provide anyone looking for a young lady’s face for their avatar a gorgeous visage.
