Being cute is damn hard!

Because there is a Kawaii Fair going on, I wanted to put something together. The thing is, though, I have never been that kind of girl. Pink was never my favorite color (blue, it was). And unicorns and sparkles don’t do much for me. So mustering up the energy to do kawaii was hard. If there is any cute to be mentioned, it’s the creators’ cute. (Or go to Teshan’s blog at Slexy Fashionista. Being cute for her is like breathing air.) Start with this cute outfit from Moonbubble Gothly, which is featured at the fair. With cupcakes and rainbows, it’s got sweet written all over it. With the adorable tank top and matching skirt, this is only fit for kawaii girls. I added shoes from May Tolsen, knee highs from Isabelle Requiem, and this crazy candy striped purse with teddy bears hanging off it from Babychampagne Sass, all of which are also at the Kawaii Fair.

I looked up kawaii and found out it started with the use of mechanical pencils by girls in Japan in the ‘70s, where they could add little hearts and starts and smiley faces and write in big round script, which caused a lot of trouble because the writing was hard to read, so it was banned. (Think of that big round writing in middle school with hearts to dot the i’s.) But cute won out and it started showing up on packaging and advertising in the 80s. And of course, the birth of Hello Kitty drove a lot of kawaii. Now it’s ubiquitous.

I chose to wear this lovely and young looking skin from Peachymuah to accentuate the cuteness of kawaii. With pink lips and blushing cheeks, this skin is made expressly for a “young” look. In fact, the skin features different breast size features, you can you present a teenage look if you prefer. My eyes are from M4ri1yn Magic’s new cosmic set, the light blue of the “Moon” being perfect for this look. And Queue Marlowe is selling the cutest piggies ever at the new Genre, which has as its theme, Unconditional Love. Get there for this hair (which is priced at a discount)!
