Seeking Well-Being

A Day at the Spa

To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. ~ Buddha

A Day at the Spa

I have come to realize that well-being mentally means I need to find well-being physically too. Therefore, I am on a new health kick in my RL, interested in pursuing my physical and mental well-being so I can share that with my family and friends. Froukje Hoorenbeek has made this part of my SL too with her yoga mat, which includes separate yoga sequences for beginner and advanced with an additional longer session. Add to the mat 11 relaxing and stretching animations and 35 yoga poses, and you have the makings of a mentally relaxing workout in SL that might precede or follow your own RL workout. At 2 prims, the yoga mat is simple to keep in your space, even a Linden home, and since it is copy, you can rez several and work out with friends. (I can see this becoming the new craze—instead of syncing to dance with friends, you could do synchronized yoga.)

A Day at the Spa

After a good session of yoga, a massage is in order to bring everything whole. Froukje has made this terrific massage bed, based on a design from the 40s, for expert massages. The message table can render in four colors: brown, black, off white and green. The massage table has 46 massage animations, 20 cuddle animations and if you purchase the adult version, 20 foreplay animations and 30 sex animations for couples. It has five sequences of animations that just allow a series of massage movements to play through for a complete massage as well. When you lie on the table, a towel automatically renders to cover you (as you see) and if you are getting the hot stone treatment, stones render. At 9 prims this is hardly an indulgence for your prim count but an incredible indulgence for your well-being.

A Day at the Spa

Water, water and more water. The importance of drinking water is touted left and right and why not? Over 50% of our body is made of water. Sitting down after a long session of yoga and then a relaxing massage with some fresh water feeds the body and soul. If you spend a lot of time on SL, I challenge you to keep a glass of water by your computer as I do now. Forget the sodas, the juices, even the diet drinks. Drink water and learn how to click “Do Not Disturb” so you can get up for bathroom breaks. It will do you good!

  1. Yes yes yes! You’re so right about the importance of water, Harper. I always kinda freak out when ppl in SL go afk briefly to get a drink. And then when you ask them it turns out to be coke, coffee, wine or alcoholic beverages. That’s so bad :(

I always have 2 huge bottles at the computer. I fill them up with tap water, no soda no additives. So when I leave a convo to go afk it’s not to get a drink but for a bio break.

Oh, and also important is some workout. I always do little stretches and stuff, which is easy to do but really works in the long run.
