My Mother’s Flowers

My Mother's Flowers

Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

My Mother's Flowers

Today I went to see my mother in the transitional rehab place. She had knee replacement earlier this week, and while not life-threatening, it is painful as heck. She sent me to her house to pick up a “few” things (three bags full) and while I was there, I noticed her irises were in bloom, so I cut a few and put them in a vase because she won’t be home in time to see them this summer. They were the gladdest things she received.

Fashion for Life starts June 7, and again we are enjoying the fashions of SL on behalf of Relay for Life in SL. This year, each designer donated to participate and every single sale will have a percentage donated to RFL (which is different from previous years). Each designer will be presenting at least one exclusive and new item. (Most of them are offering many more than that.) Cajsa Lilliehook has led the charge with Grace Loudon coordinating the building of 10 amazing sims. In fact, I am on the sim that Éclair Martinek designed, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Sage Pexie is presenting this absolutely breathtaking dress for Fashion for Life as her exclusive in pink and sage green. Sage told me that pink lilies were her mother’s favorite flower, so she designed this dress in honor of her mother, who passed from lung cancer that spread to her bones in December 2009. With a separate halter top and skirt, it’s versatile as well as beautiful. I wear Kathrin Dassin’s lovely jewelry, also an offering for Fashion for Life, with the dress. Kat is selling two sets of intricately made and beautiful jewelry with part of the price going to RFL.

My skin is Emmira’s gorgeous offer for Fashion for Life. She is offering five make ups in two versions with Slink and Lola appliers. This beautiful makeup is radiant and perfect for this dress and the atmosphere of summertime with a luscious tan. English is not Emmira’s native language but she has managed to join Fashion for Life with other creators who are interpreting for her. It’s an amazing thing that we have so many designers willing to do this—transcend a language barrier to contribute. My hair is Kimberlee Miles’ lovely full piece, which comes in two lengths with a texture-change HUD and the rose  with a HUD as a bonus.
