This song just won’t leave me alone. It’s lovely and beautiful and sentimental and though the lyrics aren’t the best, the singer makes it work. So I had to use it for this blog, where the dress, from Fashionboi Landar and Justice Topaz, makes it. From the Shiny Shabby event, it’s a perfect mix of silk and girly with a little sexy in the mix. I styled it with applied corset stockings from Moonbubble Gothly, the cute flats from Shaleene Kenin, and a jewelry set from LouLou Teichmann, the latter two from Shiny Shabby as well.

Monica Outlander has released a set of her Sprites for the Arcade, a group of animals she has created from felted wool and crystals and herbs in real life that she has replicated in SL. Darling little animals, cute for decorating your home either singularly or in multiples, especially if you grab the cute shelf she gives for displaying them. My hair is Truth Hawks’ absolutely gorgeous piece for this month’s boho-themed Uber. I love the loose braid, the textures and the darling accoutrement that come with a color change HUD so you can mix them up, or just not wear them. I absolutely love this hair, and I am not usually a braid fan. I am again wearing Sawsan Secretspy’s gorgeous skin for Designer Circle because I felt like I had hidden it behind glasses in my last post and wanted to show how truly pretty it is.

Tom Ford recently did a star-attended fashion show in LA with his newest collection, a combination of denims, boho and some 70s touches. So it was quite serendipitous when I opened one of GraceHaddington’s latest dresses and found this funky 70s design on the HUD in a pattern that looked amazingly close to one Tom Ford showed. Grace LOVES patterns and is one of the few in SL that uses them liberally and with a completely wonderful sense of proportion and color. I paired Glamistry’s newest sunglasses (to keep out the LA sun) and a pair of his great platform sandals, both of which come with his slick color change HUD and linked to his flawless shopping system. A wrist cuff from Systi Cisse locks the look up.

Thora Charron just released two new hairs and this gorgeously-textured, side-swept ‘do includes a HUD with a variety of her luscious colors. No more separate hairs cluttering your inventory—it’s easy peasy. My skin is Sawsan Secretspy’s newest for the Designer Circle, and I hope you can see how gorgeous it is. I think I will blog this one again because it’s worth seeing. As always, Sawsan lends her special elegance and sexiness to this skin and with her applier, it’s a complete look.

The last round of Enchantment ends in a couple days, which means only a couple days left to grab the gifts, all made for the theme of Beauty and the Beast. How it works: you purchase one of the specially marked Enchanted items at one of the participating stores. You get a stamp collection card. You go to every store and wear the card and click the little Enchantment kiosk and it puts a stamp on the card. A full card can be exchanged for one of the 20 great gifts that the participants have made. See them all at the Enchantment website. The cards are transfer so share one with a friend after you have filled it up.

I have assembled an outfit from several pieces from the event. Start with a gorgeous mesh dress from Titania Halasy that includes separate gold-embroidered overlays, perfect for a beauty and available in several jewel-toned colors. Flats from kenadeecole are a perfect choice for this outfit or frankly, just about any. (I highly suggest you grab a pair.)

These amazing wicker (?) horns entwined with roses are May Tolsen’s contribution to the theme and she also made this rose eye patch and a necklace I don’t show because I wanted to make sure I featured the delicately beautiful necklace from Caelyn Hancroft, which includes a HUD for texture change to gold, silver or copper. Long hair with a beautiful braid framing the front is Dubled’s contribution to the event. And my beauty wears Umazuma Metaluna’s beautiful skin for the Shiny Shabby event.

La Parisienne

The figure of the Minoan woman… was very similar to the female shape that came into fashion during the late 1800s C.E….. In fact, so close were Minoan fashions to popular French fashions of the 1800s that one of the women in an ancient Minoan painting was nicknamed “La Parisienne” (the woman of Paris) by those who discovered her.

The dress Kiddo Oh made for the Fantasy Collective was inspiration for my blog entry title. Topless, the dress includes some beautiful traditional fashion motifs but with  unexpected baring. Being this a family blog, I don’t show full on toplessness, but you can get the jist of it. I love how Kiddo has fashioned the trail of ruffles along the back, the amazing corset laced in back with a fashionable belt around the middle and a darling bolero, as if this is just another dress.

I accessorized with Kikunosuke Eel’s beautiful jewelry set for Shiny Shabby. With several pendants, this necklace of beads and elegantly fashioned earrings and bracelet, the set is worth having. I especially love the fashioning of the clasps and the settings.

A new set of skins has come out from sugarbrownie, the brand is doing a full-on push to be noticed. I rather like the skins but see in them the hallmarks of a new creator. The body needs a bit more development and perhaps a reworking of the look of the lips (which have a bit much white highlighting and lack the matteness I prefer). The features are well placed and nicely done, especially the nose and blush. And this creator includes appliers for everything. I decided to go a bit avant garde to match this dress with an updo from Boo Nakamura, which gives a beautiful not-quite-real asymmetry to this look. Ah, she is a Parisienne—elegant and sexy.

Shiny Shabby opens today and with it, a whole lot of great shiny and hardly shabby items, all made for this event that relies on the theme of vintage and gently used items. Miffyhoi Rosca is a natural creator for these event, and she has made a darling long mesh dress with a calico print, belted at the waist with wonderful puffed sleeves. Paired with a matching headpiece and Shaleene Kenin’s darling sandals (which I realize you can barely see but they are darling, trust me), the look is vintage.

The fair is chock full of the kind of shabby chic furniture people love in SL. This piano from Agustov includes a passel of great poses, including this piano playing animation (that went rhythmically with the Radiohead I was listening to when I shot the photos, though the vision and sounds didn’t quite match). Tab Tatham made my lovely white pieces, part of a set of intriguing decor items which include this wiry plant. They are mod, so they can be tinted. My mesh chair, from AptB, includes tons of texture change options for different parts of the chair, so you purchase one chair and can redecorate over and over with a few clicks. Instead of having to choose an entire look, you can mix and match metals, woods, even the two different chair cushions, and everything has that wonderful burnished look.

 

Umazuma Metaluna is releasing a new skin for Shiny Shabby, this delicate, winsome skin with a subtle blush and her wonderful Intensity Lip system, which allows for custom tinting. Truth Hawks must have known that vintage pretty would come calling because his latest release was a perfect match for this look with its gentle waves and beautiful roll to the back. Katya Valeska made two sets of poses for the fair, including a couple you see in these photos.

The Dreamer

Sometimes being in a virtual space is a form of dreaming in a dream space. We dream of another life, of creations we can’t make or obtain. This beautiful dress from Kiddo Oh, which she is featuring at the Seraphim Social, opening on February 19. Fully mesh, it comes in four colors, including this dreamy pink. I accessorized with Sigifaust’s mesh ring set, fitted to Slink hands as well as Maitreya, which will be sold at the Shiny Shabby event at Neva Crystall’s sim, opening February 20. They come singularly as well. Giela Delpaso has refashioned her nails for Maitreya and Belleza bodies, yay, and I was delighted to see them come out.

The Shiny Shabby event is going to be considerably bigger than the one held in December—over 50 designers, all of them top notch. The furnishings I show here will also be at the event, including this charming bench from anne Dakun, a hanging screen from aki69 (who has made some fabulous dream pieces if you check out his store), and a chandelier from Tya Fallingbridge, part of a shabby chic set she has made especially for the event.

I keep wearing this delicate and beautiful skin from Inka Mexicola because it looks so wonderful and now she has made appliers for the Maitreya body (as well as others), so it’s so easy to wear. My fabulous shag haircut is Shylah Honey’s entry for N21 (opening the 21st, natch) and is one of the more unique styles I have seen hit the grid. I love what Shylah has done here with asymmetry, tendrils of hair and spiky pieces, and a sort of cowlick on top. It’s a standout in the piles of Farrah Fawcett blowouts we’ve been seeing so much of.

I really liked the chairs Tobias Convair has at The Liaison Collaborative, so I built a whole outfit around one. Tobias, whose main goal in life is to bring classical modernism and architecture to SL, has given another  The animation engine can be a bit wonky but the poses are original and different. I certainly appreciated the initial female sit, which shows a woman with a casual and sexy power. Rowr.

My dress from Beanster Potato is a sophisticated choice for this look. She includes a HUD that allows color change for both the top and bottom. I was a little surprised by the materials included in the mesh when I put it on ultra mode but it’s not too bad. The textures are terrific, though, and the dress is sexy in shape and style. I was able to wear Rebel Hope’s sexy sandals with the outfit (thank you, Callie) and one of AvaGardner Kungler’s newest pieces, based on elvin inspiration.

Shyla Diggs has further expanded her collection of skins with a set of beautiful looks for The Liaison Collaborative. Grab this group and the one at Uber and you get a full set. My sexy long hair comes courtesy of Mina Nakamura, who is exploring the face-hiding look with peek-a-boo locks with her latest releases. This beautiful look is at Kustom 9.

Queen of Love

Today is a big deal. This is my 1500th blog post. Yep. 1500! With each post at approximately 400 words, that’s 600000 words or 2400 pages of writing. (If I were writing a paper, which I am not.) With approximately 4 images per post, that’s 6000 images (though my Flickr says 7861). With about 8 slurls per post, that’s 12000 slurs. And my traffic is almost at 1 million. (Yeah, a pittance in the grand scheme of the internet but still astounding to me.)

That’s why Callie got me this crown. And then she rezzed the new KittyCatS collections. Up top in my teaser you see the KittyCatS! 4th Birthday Collectible CatS. One is given out for free when you click the birthday cake at their sim and the other you get when you hunt for it. The two can be bred to make a special kitten, specific only to these two and both KittyCatS are free.

The two special Valentine’s collections are the Forget Me NotS and the CupidCatS. Obviously, you can tell which is which, and I love the Forget Me NotS because they have that old fashioned Victorian style. Barnesworth Anubis made the pedestals for the CupidCatS!

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I donned a bra and panty set that LacunaInc has made in red with all the appliers you might need. I am lounging on a special Valentine’s pillow from Cherelle Capra that she is offering at the Color Me Project (where everything is.. well, red.. go figure). And I love Glamistry’s new shoes with color change everything in a funky, stylish design.

Maxi Gossamer made this lovely locket that is full of a woman’s heart’s delight for Love is in the Air, hung on a beaded chain. And Sawsan Secretspy, the skin maker who never sleeps, has this gorgeous lush skin at the With Love Fair. Umazuma Metaluna is coming out with a new set of eyes for the Cosmetic Fair, and I donned a pair of the sparklers for this look. Finally, I love how Mina Nakamura’s sleek long hair curls around my shoulders, framing my face and making me look like a queen.

One of my favorite love songs lately has been the one I quote from Sturgill Simpson. It’s a country tune, highly unlikely for me, but so beautifully sung and played, I can’t help but love it, especially its message of friendship and support. And I sport a pre-Valentine’s Day look to match the love with this darling dress from Ivy Burner that she is featuring at the With Love fair. In custom mesh with great textures, a great feature of Ivy’s work, the dress comes with off-shoulder sweetness and a lot of style. I donned Senzati0n Domenitzo’s shoes from the With Love Fair and custom mesh jewelry from Mirja Mills, also from the fair.

Inka Mexicola’s gorgeous skins for the OMGacha are a bargain when you consider each is a beautiful piece of work for a ridiculously low price, tradable so you can get the whole set. I sugared up the look with pretty pink lips from Constance Daehlie and a beauty mark from AnyBody. And Truth Hawks recently came out with this lovely curly hair pulled back, an ideal style for a romantic look.

I love this new song from Courtney Barnett, all punk and funny with a sweet touch of girly. I thought it suited this look, a lot of which I got at Thrift Shop 8.0. First, Cruella Pennell has made this fabulous dress from two different mesh templates, but she has made so much of these templates, one can hardly even think of what may have been made before. She has finitely and exquisitely textured these pieces with a pattern and leather insets. Putting the two together seems an effortless decision and pulling them together with such great texture work is ingenious. Best part? They are discounted at Thrift Shop 8.0! With these fabulous little booties from Senzati0n Domenitzo also from Thrift Shop, it’s a look that falls together.

I wanted to up the gothiness of the look without going overboard so Inka Mexicola’s beautiful skin for OMGacha combined with deep dark lips from Constance Daehlie that she is featuring at AnyBody plus Constance’s dark eyes makes a beautiful face, pale and glowing with the contrasting darkness without being chalky or dead. Kavar Cleanslate’s beautiful new ‘do for Collabor88 with a side-pulled ponytail and his fabulous new textures completes this beautiful gothy look.
