Big news!
The first big news is, of course, the Hair Fair. Today I take on Anya Ohmai’s hair, five styles for Hair Fair, all kicking donations to Wigs for Kids. Anya has made a variety of hairs with fun add-ons (which I don’t show here—party pooper) and great texture change HUDs for the hair and accessories.
I am glad Anya decided to approach the hair from several different takes. Combined with the outfit I have on, they all leant a slightly different flavor and there has to be a hairstyle for everyone’s taste. My outfit, by the way, is a complete piece from Poulet Koenkamp, which she has textured with a great HUD including color choices for the jacket, top, and shorts, available at On9. AvaGardner Kungler has several different colorways for this tropical leaf necklace she made for Fashiontropic.
My other big news is Maximillion Grant’s new releases for his mesh heads. As you recall, he made one of the first mesh heads in SL, a pretty complete set with makeups, brows, hairbases, eyes and even expressions. In order to make the expressions work, he made separate mesh pieces, all of which you “add” to wear to enable different components to work. (You can also simply not wear some pieces, as I did with my eyes, replacing his eyes with mesh ones from Soleil Reid.) While it seems a bit clumsy, there is a good reason for all these pieces: expressions.
With all the mesh heads out there, it’s hard to choose and I have heard several people ask for “expressions” beyond the normal eyes and mouth closed and open that most mesh heads provide. Max offers an expression menu on his mesh head but has created two more expression HUDs to allow you a variety of expressions. The great thing about the HUDs is that you’re not just limited to each facial expression—you can also mix and match by clicking the eyes or mouth to mix things up. Combined with the initial HUD, you have over 3000 possibilities at your finger tips. (Someone is bound to correct my math—please do.) The HUDs are small—not a lot of real estate on your screen—and allow all sorts of fun, as you can see from my photos. (Expressions do not reflect the editor’s opinion of the hair she’s wearing!)
I have also heard people express disappointment that they can’t use appliers on these mesh heads. Wouldn’t it be great to wear your favorite makeup with expressions built in? Max has also just announced that he has included Omega support in his heads. That means any face/skin made using the Omega appliers can potentially be applied to this head. Right now, there are no skins on the market but I happen to know one very popular skin maker is soon to release skins specifically created for this head. They are gorgeous!
Max just released additional makeups and lipsticks as well as freckles–all add on scripts you just drop into the HUD. I experimented with them for my look. Last bit of good news: Max has also made appliers for the Maitreya body and will be addressing the Belleza upgrade soon. (Operative word—soon. Don’t bug him.) Maximillion is putting the LOGO back on the map for mesh heads.
