Morning Ablutions

A quiet morning is a good way to come out of sleep and into a peaceful day. I enjoyed this morning with Froukje Hoorenbeek’s new galvanized bathroom set for Shiny Shabby. Coupling the most cutting-edge PG and Adult animations with the loveliest fixtures on the market, Froukje’s bathroom set creates a spa in SL. Of course, you see me taking both a bath and a shower because I needed to show these beautiful pieces in action. Sheerpetal Roussel’s rustic cottage for Shiny Shabby is the perfect setting for retreat and peace.

One of the great parts of Shiny Shabby is that you can get both clothing and décor. Paco Pooley made a set of music-related planters for this month’s event, including this drum filled with flowers. Hanshan Instrid created a gacha of lovely nature-based pieces including the artwork you see on my walls and the bench beside the tub. Kunst Himmel also enjoyed a garden theme with planters and the little watering can you see. And Artizanmesh has created spring seedlings for my windows. Qo0op has blessedly made her rugs for Shiny Shabby modifiable. That’s really important to someone like me, who likes to color pieces. Who wants to live in an all gray environment?

Nicole Button is going crazy with appliers lately, enjoying the many mesh heads on the market and creating beautiful looks for them. This beautiful face with fine features and full luscious lips is available in her store with her updated body appliers. (Make sure you get the new ones for perfect match.) An updo from Kuranosuke Kamachi for Uber is a lovely look for my morning ablutions. And Mariska Simon’s lingerie appliers get me dressed to feel sexy all day.

Callie told me the So caL sim was recently redone by Beloved Ruby, who is quite a talented artist, so I went over and Callie was right. The sim is gorgeous—picturesque and beautifully laid out. I’ll be coming back to take more photos! This sexy dress from Numer0Un0 that he made for Shiny Shabby stood out with its great textures and cutouts. The dress I wore was marked as “beta” for fit and I would say there might me a few problems, easily fixed with shape changes. For example, I upped the love handles to get the waist to expand the rigged dress enough to skim my waist without cutting in. I paired sexy heels from Hilly Haalan with the look. Hilly always offers a ginormous selection of colors on a HUD with all her items so you can swap out colors and match things up perfectly. I love it! I accessorized with gacha bracelets from Ors Quan for Shiny Shabby and Lapointe and Bastchild’s earrings for 100 Block.

My long hair is a lovely, pulled-to-the-side look from VivienMarli for Shiny Shabby. Monicuzza Babenco has made another spectacular applier for Shiny Shabby, and I splurged and got the new Aisha head from Catwa Clip to feature it. I am glad that Catwa decided to separate out the expressions, mouth styles, and talk features to decrease the pricing. It was too hard deciding to scratch up the money to get the new heads with features I rarely used simply to blog skins for my favorite designers. With features broken out, I could get both of the new heads and the add-on lip styles without worrying about paying for features I never used. The price was much more palatable for my needs. It also allows fans to dabble with the heads without getting in over their heads.

K-Drama

One of my secret binge-watching enjoyments is K-Dramas, which I used to find on Crunchyroll (thank you, Erehwon) and now find on Hulu, Dramafever or Viki. They run, typically, 20 long episodes and contain an arc that carries through amazingly through those episodes. They are a modern Korean form  of soap opera with handsome oppas and down-to-earth young women. One of my favorite is “Coffee Prince,” a story about a young women who wants to become a barista, and disguises herself as a boy to do so. The owner of the shop, trying to evade his parents’ pressure about him getting married, enlists the “boy” to pretend to be his gay boyfriend. It’s a classic story of misrepresented identity (ala Shakespeare).

When I put together this look, the various shopaholic characters of the K-dramas came to mind. Today’s look is not the heroine but perhaps her nemesis, a woman of high fashion and elegant demeanor who may quite well manipulate those around her. Her couture choice of apparel is Mami Jewell’s latest outfit, a mesh ensemble in two pieces with a gold sash and gold accents. I paired pumps from Saki Galliazzo with the outfit because I could color match them with her handy HUD. A lovely hairpiece from Chirzaka Vlodovic completes my look. (I modified the color of the flower in the middle.) I also modified the roses on Piraiyah Novikov’s piece for Shiny Shabby. Pira is nice to leave things mod so his customers can do that.

Of course, the core of the look is Inka Mexicola’s gorgeous applier for Catwa heads for Shiny Shabby. While she made it for another head, it works just as well on the Annie head, which I have finally updated to v4.8. I love the glossy lips, the beautiful eyes and the way it overrides the mesh head alikeness problem. David Cooper’s (AKA dam1710) eyes are deep and dark, sparkling and sexy. Unlike many, I prefer a darker eye. Morphine Janick’s darling flip with bangs for Shiny Shabby is the perfect look for our elegant schemer. Maybe someday she will find her own true love.

Dearly Beloved

I got teary-eyed like everyone else when I found out Prince had died. I grew up during his ascendancy—he was on my AM radio in my old Nova when I drove to work in high school. His album, 1999, was one of the first I bought when I read an outstanding interview in Rolling Stone (I was 13). When I first saw him in the video for “Little Red Corvette,” I was shocked by how sexy a man could be.

When I went to college in Minnesota, his live shows in the Cities were already reknowned. When he wrote, “Sometimes it snows in April,” I knew just what he was talking about (because it does up here). I am heartbroken that he passed after such a long winter—I am sure he would have greeted the spring with relief and happiness like the rest of us.

Best of all, Prince transcended race and gender and class more than anyone else. He didn’t run to LA but stayed in Minnesota, keeping his wealth there, and turn into a privileged fat cat, rather choosing to fight for the rights of artists to make an income and generously giving his artistry to other musicians. He loved women—sexually but also intellectually, spiritually, and of course, emotionally. He supported so many women artists (writing for them but also employing them) but also respected women. His masculinity was never threatened by women. And race kind of went away with Prince. The people who surrounded him were of all races and mixed, as he was.

By the way, my son was mortified when I blasted “Little Red Corvette” in the car yesterday while we were cruising down Lake Drive on our way home. He was doubly mortified when I explained that the song was full of sexual innuendo. Bahahaha!

This look has nothing and everything to do with Prince. Prince was, I think, about the future and imagined other lives and ways of being. So my girl here belongs on a space station. Start with the sexy dress from Unitedcolorsteam for ROMP, one that is sexy but even sexier on this otherworldly woman. I accessorized with a stellar necklace from AvaGardner Kungler and bangle from Mea Carnell, both for Shiny Shabby, which just opened. Senzati0n Domenitzo’s sexy gladiator pumps finish the look.

The real story here (besides my meandering about Prince) is the opening of Fantasy Faire. The sims are, as always, gorgeous and the generous content available with 100% donation to Relay for Life is incredible. MissAllSunday Lemon is offering three hairs in the Solar colorway as her donation, including this funky bob that has studs (which I made transparent with her HUD). Aikea Rieko is also at the Faire and debuting two sets of fantasy skins, one of which is inspired by galaxies of stars and comes in many different color combos. She also offers almost any kind of applier you can imagine and I chose to use the Logo Alex head, which shows the skin beautifully. I honestly think a sexy space girl like this would catch Prince’s eye.

Weather changes moods
Spring is here again

Spring is springing up all over this side of the world, and it’s very welcome. It was a Game of Thrones kind of winter. I took a walk on the Gates of Dreams sim, which has bloomed for spring too, in a new outfit I assembled from separates. First, I wear Hilly Haalan’s darling mesh top which includes a ton of mix and match textures for the elements of the top like the trim, bow, and inside. My jeans are pastel goodness from Poulet Koenkamp (they also come in more jewel tones) and have a great HUD for choosing the belt and stud colors. My shoes are Senzati0n Domenitzo’s pretty pair for Shiny Shabby, which opened today. My poses from Katya Valeska are also available at Shiny Shabby.

I always love the looks Umazuma Metaluna comes up with for different appliers, and this time is no exception. She has created a freckled beauty for the LeLutka mesh heads. I added no makeup to the face—it was perfect “as is” for this look. However, I did use Uma’s freckle add-on HUD for the Maitreya mesh body. It cleverly applies freckles over the clothing layer so you can match your skin tone to your freckled face. Lovespun’s lovely hair for Hairology is a casual look that suits my springtime outlook and a hand full of rings from Sigifaust, made for Shiny Shabby as a gacha, completes my look.

You sign up to blog an event like Romp and all your posts seem to center around sex—funny how that works out. I pulled out this sexy latex dress from xxsaltandpepperxx, which she is featuring at Romp, and I was inspired to go red, especially when I got the amazing lace up shoes (reminiscent of a pair that Kendall Jenner wore for the MTV Music Awards) from Queenshop that are featured at the Chapter Four. I clicked around on the color choice HUDs for each one and found the perfect look. Aikea Rieko’s fabulous mesh earrings from The Liaison Collaborative finish my look.

Nicole Button has recently come out with an applier for the Catwa head, this one meant for the newer head but it looks ideal on Annie too. I tinted up the lips and eyes with the Catwa-supplied makeups, making them completely opaque. Tabata Jewell has created a set of Catwa hairbase appliers to match this fabulous, one-sided tumble of curls she is featuring at Hairology. I think it’s a fierce look that will command someone (you know who you are) to behave!

I want to say up front, “Thank you, Syn Beresford, for letting people rez at Elysion.” I keep going back again and again to take photos because Syn, a graphic designer in RL, has such a great eye for spaces, and I want to take photos all over her sim! ROMP has just opened and while some of the stuff there pushes the limits, you will also find some great fashions. Check out this sexy outfit from Aikeo Rieko, which includes a top and skirt. Aikeo is a goddess with colors, combining things to create sexy looks, like this wine complimented with a dark plum. I accessorized with gladiator-style heels from Senzati0n Domenitzo for the Black Fashion Fair. And my cuffs are truly functional cuffs, part of a beautifully elaborate collar set from Titsuki Yuitza for ROMP, scripted to include a leash. I wear just the gorgeous cuffs here.

Nicole Button has made a fabulous skin set for the Logo head and how sexy is it? I am glad she did because her skins are sophisticated and sensuous, with full luscious lips, and honestly, I needed to get this Logo head back on. The expressions are the best of the mesh heads. Not a lot of people realize, but the eyes and mouths are independent of each other so you can click eyes on one set and the mouth on another to combine expressions. I did that with this look. My hair is MissAllSunday Lemon’s beautiful look for Hairology, a very loose almost-braid over one shoulder.

Coachella is coming up, and I am pretty excited because they have a pretty good website with live performances on it. My partner in SL lives kind of close to the event so some day I hope I can actually go and mingle among the kids. (We’ll likely be the very oldest people there.) My weekly music dude, Clark at Noon Pacific, has a little page up with recommendations with a guide to Coachella, which includes Christine and the Queens and one of their songs I particularly like.

I remixed my Coachella look with some recent event items, including a darling top from Kinu Mayako for 100 Block that holds particular interest for me because I have been crocheting a lot of granny squares lately. It’s sexy and bohemian and matched Paul Lapointe’s and Bastchild Lotus’ recently redone capris, fitted to several mesh bodies. I accessorized with a darling necklace from Ors Quan and Sigifaust’s great ring gacha set that includes a texture change HUD for any and all of the rings as a rare, both available at Shiny Shabby. Glamistry recently came out with these higher than high heel boots that include a stiletto heel (which in retrospect would be impossible to wear at Coachella but look cute with this outfit).

I chose Oytebis’ skin for Shiny Shabby because I thought the smudged eye makeup under the eyes was idea for a girl who is wandering Coachella at all hours. It’s a few long days and nights outside and who has time to attend to her makeup? The great thing about Oytebis’ skins is that she includes appliers for nearly every kind of mesh head with them as well as system skins, all in one HUD (except TMP, which you can request from the HUD). A floppy hat to keep out the sun from Rucy Byron comes with a texture change HUD and fits on Mina Nakamura’s hair perfectly. The two designers hooked up to offer this great look at Epiphany, and I am glad they did because it’s almost impossible to get a hat to fit hair—this time they did it for us!

Spring is coming and love is in the air! Well, I like to hope so. I know I love this new dress from Flutter Memel for Collabor88. It comes in several spring-perfect colors and fits mesh bodies quite nicely. I was able to coordinate Senzati0n Domenitzo’s sexy shoes, which are new at her store and come with some spring colors and I added bracelets from MoonBubble Gothly and Nissa Rayna, which they made for the 100 Block. Moonbubble’s bracely comes with a HUD that allows you to color each stripe and Nissa’s has eight metal choices. Maxi Gossamer’s gorgeous shell-decorated jewelry for Collabor88 completes my look.

Inka Mexicola snuck back in world and has released some gorgeous looks recently including this applier for the Catwa heads, which she is offering at the Liaison Collaborative.; With luscious peachy lips, the skin looks beautiful with any of the brow choices (you don’t have to just go dark brows as I show here). My blunt wavy cut from Evadne Quintessa for Hairology is a chic casual yet elegant look, perfect for warmer temperatures.

Sands Leavitt pulled a double whammy recently with a sexy outfit at Uber and a great corset at We <3 RP. I decided to mix n match the two for this stunning look. Since Sands is a game artist anyway, he gets “materials” in SL and has included the feature with his mesh pieces, which you can see from the lights bouncing off the leather of the corset and jeans. (I took my photos at the beautiful Elysion and you can see a red lamp’s light on my hip and another light on my backside, diffused on the leather texture.) The corset comes in two pieces so if you wish to forgo the top part, you can have a single sexy corset for your look. I accessorized with ankle boots from Glamistry and the gorgeous geometric gacha jewelry Mea Carnell has out for Gacha Guardians. The 100 Block is opening on April 9 and Zozicon has great nail appliers for Matreya, Omega and Slink available.

Umazuma Metaluna is releasing this smokey-eyed skin at Collabor88 this round and once again, I am blown away by the beauty of the features and the sexiness of the makeup. I admit I tinted the lip a little using the Catwa hud colors and blending it so I had a deeper lip. My mysterious eyes are Uma’s feature for The Chapter Four. I have been waiting for new eyes from her and I am not disappointed! Mirja Mills has made this lovely braid with wisps that float about the face for Hairology, which is opening April 10. It’s almost, but not quite, a Lara Croft look.
