A Chill in the Air

Fall has come in too quickly. I am still staring at the shorts and t-shirt in my drawers, wondering if I will ever be able to wear them again. It’s not so bad because fall brings back the best part–snuggling up.

So I have snuggled up to .. myself. Yeah, that’s my male alt modeling for me. I needed a hunk in a pinch and there he was, chilling in his box, so I pulled him out. (Yeah, really, what kind of loser snuggles their other doll except me?) The reason was this adorable seasonable skybox from Gin Galtier. She has made 50 only to be sold on Marketplace and for that alone, it’s worth considering. I don’t normally do “on location” shoots, but the colors in this skybox are so pretty and autumnal, I wanted to show something cozy.

Check out the sweet desk in the corner with Gin’s eclectic styling. The skybox comes complete with all decor, which is also modifiable and removable. So you can hack this skybox as you please and still have a cozy nook for warming up. At 215 prims, it’s a lightweight packed with a lot of goodness.

And if nothing else, it’s chock full of great photography opportunities. (How humiliating—being cute with myself… *sigh*. What I do for “art.”)

My outfit is the kind of cozy I need on a chilly day. Doc Eldritch knitted up this beautiful sweater last year that comes with a hood or this great cowl. My jeans are comfy and sexy and made by Anyusha Lilienthal. And I love these boots from Ansor Hoorenbeek (who does women’s as well as men’s.. hello), which come with three different leg options. The great leg warmers make me feel cuddly. My boy is dressed in a great sweater from mappy handrick, jeans from machang Pichot and shoes from Guu Nishi. But really, this is all about the skybox…. and the girl ;)

Fall Finds Me

I looked outside today, out to the dreary, rainy street with the leaves scattered all over and realized my favorite parts of fall were passing before my eyes, washed away in a rain storm. So I logged on.

The great thing about SL is I can take away the rain, set to sunset, and have a beautiful crisp fall day. And today I wanted to blog fashion about the beauty of fall. So I ran over to forest feast (because you know, I had a fashion blog to do so getting flowers was VERY important). I filled my arms with flowers and trees and ran back to my sim and donned this beautiful gown from Nicky Ree.

With its autumnal motif, it really needed to be put on and displayed among the beautiful creations of miki Morigi. A full fantasy dress, the outfit includes a long flowing translucent cape, beautifully shifting skirt prims, and system pieces typical of Nicky—beautifully and subtly textured.

Long loose hair is only appropriate so I wore this lustrous creation from Truth Hawks. The ideal skin was the subtle Wheat/Blush from the Valeries line by Lorac Farella.

And the leaves fell around me, gently, like a hundred falling suns:

Earth Mother

The Swansong at the Black Swan sim, soon to be closed by Rezzable as they leave Second Life with only Greenies, is quite a round-up of fashion designers in Second Life. As I was helping Raven set down her panel for “Black Flame,” I cammed around the area, feeling that familiar twinge of the need to shop as I saw everyone’s creations.

That same evening, Lorac passed over a photo of her new Wheat/Desire skin, and I realized the perfect look was in my hands. With Dezi Jarvinen’s Mother Nature Gown in Earth, I was able to put together an earth mother look that appealed to the Taurus in me. Dezi designed a dress with beautifully rendered leaves and branches and a cleverly designed sheer green skirt. It compliments the vision of natural beauty shown with Lorac’s skin.

What is also clever about this outfit is that the pretty underneath pieces turn into a sexy bikini when you take the prims and outer layers off. So Mother Earth can get down-to-earth and down to business in a split second. Dezi did the kind service of providing the clothing on all layers, which many may be considered convenient but made the ensemble confusing for me.
