Candy Cane Christmas—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 10

“It’s a Candy Cane Christmas
Sweet as it can be.”

~ “Candy Cane Christmas” by Darius Rucker

Candy Cane Christmas

Mariska Simons finally brought out the wildcat in this kitten with her gift for the KittyCats & Friends Advent Day Calendar. Mariska is offering this darling, if brief, bra and shorty shorts set to all advent calendar clickers today (and onwards until January 4). The top comes as a system layer or in one of several different appliers (this one being the Omega applier, which goes directly on to the Belleza Venus body). With a darling print that makes a kitten like me purr, it’s a great little set to heat up your cold winter nights and sweeten the holiday.

Candy Cane Christmas

The great news is that Inka Mexicola JUST put out Belleza Venus body appliers for the EVO line. It’s a beautiful look—the skin looks just wonderful over this shape and I love being able to wear the skins and have it all match. My fabulous waves are Truth Hawks’ newest, which I have been saving for a really seductive look because this hair is pure sex. I kept myself warm with darling mesh knee socks, now fitted to the Belleza body, from Muka Release that she has at The Big Show. It all adds up to a sweet look. (Mr. Harold Heckubaugh next to me agrees.)

The Cats are Back!

The Cats are Back!

“What’s your name,’ Coraline asked the cat. ‘Look, I’m Coraline. Okay?’
‘Cats don’t have names,’ it said.
‘No?’ said Coraline.
‘No,’ said the cat. ‘Now you people have names. That’s because you don’t know who you are. We know who we are, so we don’t need names.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

The Cats are Back

The cats are back—the KittyCatS, that is. As per the season, two new breeds have come out for Halloween—Scarecrows and Monster Mash. I personally like the monsters as they are more my speed but the scarecrows are winsome and darling. I think it’s the blinking eyeballs on the heads that grabbed my heart. Who can resist a big eyeball? (The one on my head, incidentally, is going to be a gift at KittyCatS when Callie gets it out. Check in a few days. And she will have a couple gifts at the Fright Fair as well.)

This new dress from Ariadna Garrigus comes with a texture-change HUD that gives you one of three darling designs. I preferred this pattern because it reflected the colors of the KittyCatS and has an autumnal look. My shoes are Kenadeecole’s great set at the Body Modification Expo and fit both Slink and Belleza feet (which is good because I am still wearing the Belleza Mesh body). They are sexy defined.

The Cats are Back

I found this darling skin from Inka Mexicola had an affinity for the hair Mina Nakamura just put out. Inka has put the skin out at the Candy Fair with a number of delightful candy-colored lip and brow colors, so they could make your sweet look shine. Mina has this great hair for the Mystic Realms Faire, perfect for an adventuring woman with its ragged ends and implied messiness. And my orange eyeball and blue horns look great with it! And it’s really all about the big eyeball.

All Saints Day

All Saints Day

Halloween in my town was cold and rainy and windy and ghostless though the blowing of the winds was certainly chilling and the darkness was eerie. I sought a respite from the creepiness of the evening with Callie and her KittyCats. I had just gotten the cutest dress from Ivy Burner (group gift for Halloween—thank you!) and Kavar Cleanslate had come out with a whole bunch of new hair, including these lovely locks, wavy and all brought to the side. Callie had other ideas.

First she had me see her Silly Spook KittyCats. With a ghostly translucence, these kitties are scary but fun all at once (due to Callie’s charming artwork). The little feline ghosties tried to engage me in play, but I wasn’t quite into it.

All Saints Day

Callie introduced me to her “Hell-O-Kittehs,” a group of underworld wildcats with choatic textures and crazy glowing eyes. They tried to suck me down into their inferno (reminiscent of more than one person who has told me to “go to Hell”), but I was rescued by…

Super Cats! These kitties pulled me skyward where I could float among the clouds. With their darling superhero costumes and bright masks, these caped crusaders assured my place in Heaven on All Saints Day. All three collectible KittyCats are available now at their store and on Marketplace.

Cat Ladies on the Web

Cat Ladies on Web

My partner has a KittyCats problem.

She called me today and said, “You know, Harper, I realize you hate coming here to feed my cats when I am gone, so we have come up with a new system.”

She shared her screen and showed me “The KittyCatS Cattery.”

Cat Ladies on Web

I said, “Callie, are those your cats in a website?”

“Yeah, isn’t this cool? There are safe and secure there. I can access the website from any browser and feed them and breed them wherever I am—Paris, Palm Springs, or Pensacola, and I don’t have to worry about you forgetting them and letting them all starve.”

(Needless to say, I breathed a sigh of relief.)

“But does this mean I can’t come over and play with your kitties anymore? Are they stuck in a website now?” I have to say I hate feeding them but once in a while a little cuddling is needed.

Cat Ladies on Web

Callie laughed. “No! I can get them any time using the Dock. All I do is click the kitty on the website, and it rezzes immediately in-world on the Dock. Besides, I’m not putting all my KittyCatS there—just some of them.”

Cat Ladies on Web

She starting clicking cats on the website to make them rez and immediately kicked them out the door again into the website for fun. It got a little much until I interrupted her. “So you breed these on the web too?”

She stopped clicking. “Oh yeah! I can just mate two ‘ready’ cats and they can breed on the web. This way I don’t have to be in-world to see if my cats have done their thing. And there are over 24 million combinations of cats available once they breed.”

Cat Ladies on the Web

“So no more feeding in-world? I don’t have to come over anymore while you are off on your jaunts?” I was SO happy.

“Nope,” she grinned. “When I go on vacation, I can put them all in the KittyCatS Cattery, purchase enough KittyDollars to get food online, and I am set.”

Cat Ladies on Web

I guess KittyCatS has done it again—revolutionized breedables in SL. Now if they could just sort my inventory, I would be very happy.

Don’t own a KittyCat yet? Go get one at KittyCatS or log on to www.kittycats.biz and check out the new KittyCatS Cattery. (And do it in bed on your iPad!)

Belle Femme

A few weeks ago in Plurk I stated that I thought “Broadway Empire,” the new series on HBO was not engaging because people living in our times of economic difficulty aren’t really interested in watching shows about corruption, crime and free-flying money. I have changed my mind on that. I have gotten sucked into the show, which has exquisite costuming and sets and a great sense of drama and history. The story is compelling, historically and dramatically. And I have wondered more than once if the constant shot at the Republicans in the show is intentional. It’s all there if you give it time.

Belle Femme

This dress from Callie Cline reminded me of the series. In the latest episode, Margaret goes to the boutique of the French fashionista, Mme. Jeunet to view her beautiful imported dresses and convinces her to give her a $480 dress in exchange for political favor. (By the way, I love reviewing the recaps of the show on the A.V. Club from Noel Murray—much recommended.) Callie’s pattern on this dress is so reminiscent of that feeling of glamour from the 20s (though women would never wear a dress like this—bare shoulders, etc.) She cleverly fades the top of the skirt into a transparency so it truly seems to float around the body. The edges are crisp and clean and the bodice has a great neckline.

Belle Femme

I show it with the gorgeous jewelry from Mouse Mimistrobell, who has made it a passion of hers to make vintage jewelry among her offerings. I love how she has arranged and textured the prims to make the necklace glamorous but realistic as well. I could see a piece like this perhaps being worn by one of the ladies on the show. My hair is an older offering from Elikapeka Tiramisu, no longer available. But her work is!

Knitting with Balls

Everyone is wondering where I have been this weekend. I have been knitting. It’s kind of become an obsession. And there is a half price sale on yarn at Michael’s. Goodness—this spells trouble. I found a book about men knitting called “Knitting with Balls,” and some of the best knitters I see online are male. So today I am a male knitter.

Knitting with Balls

The needles are put away. Our guy came up with this great sweater. Some of the best knitters are I know are male so this pattern would have been no difficulty. (The truth is that Floatie Hock made this terrific sweater. Just play along with me here.) His jeans are manly work jeans from Callie Cline, who knows what she likes in men.

Knitting with Balls

Our guy’s skin is an exclusive at the Euphoria sim and a new offering from Brox Riaxik. With its very defined features, it’s not malleable to just any shape but once you find the right one, it’s a great look and you won’t run around looking like every other guy. I really like the eyebrows and the whisker work, and his eyes are beautifully expressive. My scarf is woven by Tyr Rozenblum–not knitted but the skull cap is something our guy whipped up while he was laid up with rugby injuries (dude is manly—really!). Cocoro Lemon provided the pattern and the yarn.

The New Yorker

I have never been to New York City. I have been many places—London, Paris, Berlin, San Francisco, Chicago—but not New York City. It’s amazing. I have several friends who are from there, many more who live there, but I just haven’t made it—not even the airport. But I will some day!

The New Yorker

As I understand, women in New York wear a lot of black (it’s just not a pink kinda town). So I donned this jacket from AvaGardner Kungler, a double jacket—leather over a snakeskin (what luxury!). AvaGardner has done a great job of shaping the jacket with sculpties, making it wearable AND fashionable. The jacket also comes with a single layer for you ladies who don’t want to get too warm but in the fall New York City has its moments of warmth and then it can turn chilly. My jeans are from California’s prettiest girl, Callie Cline, but their blackness makes the outfit so right coast. And a pop of color is provided by Janie Marlowe in the red tank.

The New Yorker

My hair, oh.. my hair.. I was beyond excited when I found out that Elikapeka Tiramisu has brought herself back to life in SL and is selling hair in the new SL Marketplace. I immediately grabbed all I could and I was not disappointed. This updo from Elika comes with her classic styling and perfect textures. Welcome back, Elika. We have MISSED you!

How do women in the city stay so thin and beautiful? Well they walk everywhere. These boots from JB Gazov are heels a woman can walk around the city in (and climb in and out of taxis in). My skin is one of Minnu Palen’s gifts for the lucky LeLook recipients. The flawless makeup is ideal for our New Yorker. And a statement ring makes its case on my finger, this from Cora Lu. I realize I am missing a handbag, which is a VERY important part of being a New York woman. Oh crap! I left it in the last taxi….

Brokeded

My desktop computer is brokeded. No idea what’s wrong. It’s safely nestled among other sick and brokeded ‘puters at the Computer Gallery, awaiting the gentle hands of a computer surgeon. Meanwhile I am using the laptop I first purchased so I could view Windlight in all its glory. Man, this thing is slow!

Metamorphosis

I was able to sneak into the Designers United 19 last night before I decided (badly) to shut down my computer. My wonderful partner, Callie, was participating and she made this beautiful little dress for it. First let me point out the seamless seams. Betcha can’t tell where the front ends and the back begins. Then there is the pretty prim work Callie has put on the hem and chest and then round the arms. I have worn all the layers on this dress (for propriety’s sake), but you can wear them one at a time and have a sheerer, sexier look.

Metamorphosis

I opted to show the dress on a beautiful darker skin from sanalyildiz Yalin to highlight the dress’ lightness. Sanalyildiz renders a dark skin more beautifully than most skin makers—the color is not ashy or orange, and the features are bold and gorgeous. Little gold slingbacks from Cerberus Noel and a sexy hair from Truth Hawks complete the look.

Being Miss Daisy

Midsummer and the daisies are in full bloom!

Being Miss Daisy

The cicadas sawing in the trees and I am writing this blog before I rush off to the pool. I will be wearing a breezy summery dress from dirty Adored with a sweet short skirt with soft floaty prims. With its pretty cotton floral material and buttoned up and buckled top, this has a country flair, perfect for picking daisies. Her textures are rich and evocative. I am looking forward to seeing more from dirty.

Being Miss Daisy

I pair it with this darling hat from Reghan Straaf, one of my girlfriends in Hey Girlfriends and a considerable hat maker in SL. Her textures and shapes are unbeatable, and this daisy hat is sure to charm smiles out of even the flowers. I also wear a little daisy on my finger from my dear friend Callie. It has a huge color change stone in the middle (because Callie’s all about the size) which I have made a diamond. I also wear an older hair from Stumbelina Ophelia that has been begging for attention and suits this ensemble perfectly with daisies near the nape of the neck.

Finally, I wear a fresh young skin from Gala Phoenix. Gala, as I have said before, has been in world since the beginning of my time (my first skin was from Gala) and has wisely kept an eye on changing tastes, making skins to suit her customers’ desires and needs.

I Thought I Saw…

There had to be a time when I finally succumbed to the neko thing and tried it on for myself. The problem is I am too much of a fussbudget in some ways to subject myself to wearing animal parts.

I Thought I Saw...

Callie Cline and Obryi Nightfire changed that for me with their joint effort on this fluffy kitty tail. Complete with scripts that allow you to choose how it moves, emotes it can do to those around you and what they can do to you in return, the tail is full and fluffy and includes diamonds from Ms. Cline tying it all together.

I Thought I Saw...

No kitty is complete without the ears, however, and the diamond-studded kitten ears that Callie made to go with the tail make the ensemble complete. She ties it all together with several other accessories including a huge diamond ring and diamond bracelet.

I am wearing a skin from Monicuzza Babenco, a sexy tan skin with just the right touches of makeup for making this kitten purrfect.

I Thought I Saw...

Finally I show boots from Cerberus Noel, part of a line of sweet rose-engraved cowboy boots with removable rose decorations currently featured at her store. I bought the whole fat pack. For 800, I got all the colors Cerebus features for one low price.
