Future Tense

A lot of speculation happens in chat groups about who will be doing what and releasing, who is fixing and rereleasing, what LL is doing with SL. People are always anxious for the next thing, the upgrade, or they worrying about the changes and often complain about the now. My attitude is, I can’t do much about it. Best to enjoy what I have now—a great new skin, awesome sims to check out, no more hair up my butt when I tp, and 60 groups! (I need more!)

And today I have a future look, built around a few pieces that are being sold at Collabor88. First there is the great little bodysuit from erratic Rain, a mesh piece fit right to the Maitreya mesh body and available in several colors and translucencies. I love the see-through look and the fit. Then there are earrings from Zaara Kohime, fit to the standard avatar and a couple mesh heads so they can be rigged and move with the avatar body. With her always brilliant textures, they are a beautiful addition to this future look. I accessorized with a bracelet from AvengeStore that she is selling at OMGacha in several different colorways, ombre tights from BigBeautifulDoll, and hot little gogo boots from Maxi Gossamer.

Kavar Cleanslate is offering this funky wild ‘do at Collabor88 this month, and of course I could not resist going to one of his Wild Fusion textures to make my hair look awesome. Audrey Lamede is offering a set of great eyes at the The Men’s Dept this month so I ran over to get the fatpack. Doubtless I will be using them over and over. Lara Hurley has managed to transform the features of the Logo Alex mesh head in a way no one else has managed, reshaping the lips and the nose so they take on a new look altogether. I really love the features of the Logo Alex head like the expressions and now the Omega makeups but it’s very recognizable with some skins. This skin seems to breeze past that constraint. That’s skill! Lara includes some beautiful eye and lip makeups that apply separately (updated Omega). I am really loving this skin.

Fringe Benefits

Fringe! I love it too! Djod Karu has made a very fashionable mesh outfit for Shiny Shabby that includes a fringe skirt over a mesh body suit and a jacket draped over the shoulders. I love that the fringe is irregular, which makes it seem like it has movement, better than many that would just use a transparent texture between the fringes. The jacket is rich and subtlety shadowed with light bouncing off the sequins. It’s just a great use of texture on mesh pieces. Senzati0n Domenitzo is offering these great braided sandals at Shiny Shabby as well. They were an ideal match for this look.

Ensorcelante is offering a new skin at Shiny Shabby. Ensorcelante has created a multiHUD for use on several different mesh heads, including the LeLutka mesh heads, and I think it’s fabulous in that incarnation. Unfortunately, unlike other appliers, there are no makeup options offered—WYSIWYG so I tinted the lip a little with a pink makeup built into the head to tone down the brown lip color. With the great long full hair from Ikira Frimon, the whole look is fashionable and gorgeous.

no.match at Hair Fair 2015

Romantic hair!

I have seen Viking’s hair popping up at other events recently so I was glad to get a chance to see their hair at Hair Fair this year and it was a great experience! Choosing three different asymmetrical styles, Viking showed that hair can have variation, even across a similar shape. First long and straight and tied to the side, then a long braid with a full pouf, and finally curly and sexy dressy hair. It was classy enough to wear with Shyla Diggs’ skin and gorgeous drop earrings from Lusciousmami Emerald from the Showroom.

My dress is Dead Dollz featured exclusive for The Epiphany. It’s absolutely gorgeous but a bit complicated and costly to obtain. At this gacha event, players play on the machine as usual taking their chance with commons and rares but once they receive their prize they are given 2 options: open the box or redeem it for Epiphany points. (You only get 30 seconds to decide after you wear the box, so be careful to do this when you’re ready to make such decisions.) If they open the box they can keep the item. If they choose to redeem they exchange it for credit and the item disappears. The credits then compound and you can use them to “purchase” exclusive items that will never be sold outside of the event. A no-trans exclusive item costs 25 points; a trans item is 200 points. This dress is an exclusive item.

Bottom line, if you like this dress, you can purchase 25 common items in the gachas for 25-100L each and if you decide to redeem them all, you’ll end up with enough points to get the dress. Purchase the cheapest gachas at 25L each and you can spend 625L or less, if you get some rares to get it, and that’s true of any of the exclusive items. This dress is worth it. I am not sure all the exclusives are. I am guessing for hard core gacha enthusiasts, the ability to redeem points for duplicates will be a boon (and you can carry up to 100 points over to the next round). For those of us who aren’t hard core, well.. meh.

The Dreamer

Sometimes being in a virtual space is a form of dreaming in a dream space. We dream of another life, of creations we can’t make or obtain. This beautiful dress from Kiddo Oh, which she is featuring at the Seraphim Social, opening on February 19. Fully mesh, it comes in four colors, including this dreamy pink. I accessorized with Sigifaust’s mesh ring set, fitted to Slink hands as well as Maitreya, which will be sold at the Shiny Shabby event at Neva Crystall’s sim, opening February 20. They come singularly as well. Giela Delpaso has refashioned her nails for Maitreya and Belleza bodies, yay, and I was delighted to see them come out.

The Shiny Shabby event is going to be considerably bigger than the one held in December—over 50 designers, all of them top notch. The furnishings I show here will also be at the event, including this charming bench from anne Dakun, a hanging screen from aki69 (who has made some fabulous dream pieces if you check out his store), and a chandelier from Tya Fallingbridge, part of a shabby chic set she has made especially for the event.

I keep wearing this delicate and beautiful skin from Inka Mexicola because it looks so wonderful and now she has made appliers for the Maitreya body (as well as others), so it’s so easy to wear. My fabulous shag haircut is Shylah Honey’s entry for N21 (opening the 21st, natch) and is one of the more unique styles I have seen hit the grid. I love what Shylah has done here with asymmetry, tendrils of hair and spiky pieces, and a sort of cowlick on top. It’s a standout in the piles of Farrah Fawcett blowouts we’ve been seeing so much of.

Angel Unaware—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 23

The holidays remind me of the angels who tiptoe into my SL and make it better. Start with Multimuse, who answered my early morning call for help finding wings. Add in Barely, who can throw down like no one else and take it like a man. There’s Z, who taught me windlight so many years ago and still teaches me some new trick with SL every day. And John, who tells me what esoteric dish he is making for dinner so I can rush to find the recipe. Janey, in Skin Addiction, once said something nice to me. Stephen logs on to hear me whine and still likes me. I could go on and on about my many angels (chief among them Callie). I hope you remember your angels this year and thank them for blessing your life. And in SL, if you speak to a “stranger,” try to treat them with kindness because they are someone’s angel too.

This year for the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, we had a bunch of angels, all of them giving beautiful gifts via the calendar. Today’s gift is no exception, a custom-colored gown from Mami Jewell. Mami has colored this beautiful and dramatic piece a lovely coral (though the windlight I used kind of obscures the color). The dress includes the amazing headdress and the barbed wire decorations and the amazing mesh bodice. And it’s a GIFT! A full Azul dress!

I wanted a beautiful skin to suit this look and I didn’t have to look very far with the gorgeous skins from Shyla Diggs’ work at Uber on my list. Shyla made this run of skins absolutely gorgeous with dramatic but useable makeups, colorways that will look fabulous with many different outfits. And as always, you get Shyla’s gorgeous brows, nose, lips and blushing face. My dramatic hair is Mina Nakamura’s featured work for Kustom9, a wild and fantastic hair, perfect for photos like this. With a great texture-change HUD, you get several color options, including a series of ombres. My wings from Selos Dae come in four colors, all of them beautifully textured and in four iterations for your wearing pleasure. They add the final perfect touch to this angel.

I watched an opera the other night and realized I am not meant to create but just to enjoy with unveiled enthusiasm the creations of others. Seeing Renee Fleming sing moved me, and I felt that transcendence that the best art provides. I can’t create that but I can certainly appreciate it.

My friend, Tab, in a search for an SL equivalent to a RL design, found this dress from Areve and offered to get it if I would model it. We were both astonished by its architectural lines and beautiful design, rendered wonderfully in mesh and in white, no less, which is a hard one to do in textures. It’s sexy, elegant, powerful. Barely, upon seeing the photo of this dress, said, “That dress says to me: ‘Under this fabric lies the woman who will extract every last drop from you.’” Just my kinda dress.

These shoes from Nardya Rousselot from the Liaison Collaborative echo the design lines of the dress. I am so happy Nardya is back to making shoes and the sweetheart makes them for Slink, Belleza and other feet. They are so exquisitely rendered with such gorgeous design, it’s a shame to wear anything else but the shoes. However, I would get arrested showing up on the Immense sim mostly nude. I could wear the great ring and earrings from Aleida Rhode that just came out at L’Accessoires and then I would be dressed, right?

Sawsan Secretspy’s sophisticated skin is perfect for this dress. Beautifully shadowed with defined brows and beautiful eyes I highlight with a liner from Constance Daehlie, the skin speaks to the elegance of the dress. I chose dramatic locks from Catwa Clip to complete the look. I knew I needed something windblown, voluminous and curvy to match the tight lines of the dress and this was it.

Barely said this Pretenders song suited my look, and I agreed. Start with the short belted fur coat and leather pants from Ariadna Garrigus, a sort of high fashion look with an uptown downtown fur coat with zippers at the ankles of the super skinny pants. I wore Senzati0n Domenitzo’s awesome ankle boots with this look, loving how the zippers align. My necklace is one of the prizes in the Blood Letters Hunt from MadPea, offered by Maxi Gossamer. It’s an adult story (so not for child avatars, thanks), and this necklace suits the sexy noir story perfectly.

A new skin from Sawsan Secretspy, with luscious glimmering lips, has been made smoky with the addition of an eye makeup from Joanna1 Lewsey (thanks, K!). That little beauty mark on the lip makes it, in my opinion. My hair is a great cut from MissAllSunday Lemon for the Xiasumi School Festival. I am positive she meant it as a much more innocent style (school, right?), but it looks so perfect for this ensemble, echoing Chrissie Hynde or Joan Jett. I love a layered style like this!

She Who Would Be Queen

Put on a dress like this one from Wicca Merlin and suddenly you feel like a queen. It’s an elegant mesh template that she has made even better with gorgeous textures of netting on the body and black satiny ruffles. This is one of Wicca’s fashionable offerings for the BOSL International Fashion Week, which ends October 18. My gorgeous necklace and earrings are Maxi Gossamer’s at Fameshed, and they include a texture change script so you can choose one of six colors to match your outfit.

My skin is Ivy Burner’s first attempt at selling a skin and I have to say, she has done a great job! With beautiful lips and beguiling eyes, the skin is plain enough to allow other makeups to be layered on, though I have not. She is offering this as her piece at the Body Modification Expo, and it’s a pleasant surprise. My hair is Truth Hawks’ voluminous exclusive for Mystic Realms Faire, and it comes with this crown, which has color change encompassed in the hair color HUD. It all makes me feel so royal!

How come I connote cutting edge, crazy fashion with Wicca Merlin? Maybe it’s her outre modeling and photography, her grasp of the possibilities of fashion rather than the realities, her desire to poke at the dark side and come out with something beautiful. I knew Wicca did poses but I just recently found out she also makes fashion, so I had to show you something she has created.

Her Abigail dress is testament to her very unique style. She cleverly covers a dress with a sculptural silhouette with a muted black on black modern brocade, allow the shape to be the boldest part of the look. Then she pairs it with a clever veiled hat with a big red flower and tendrils, like a modern flower arrangement on the head. Finally, zipped high heels (I always imagine a zipper or safety pin somewhere on Wicca) with spikes (of course) complete the look. I accented with red cuffs from Ivy Burner from the gacha at her store. (IM me to trade other colors!)

I did a combo on my face with skin and lipstick from JunoMonteiro and then eyebrows from Eleri Catlyn. I was going for blue brows to make a crazier look but I didn’t want to detract from the hat so I ended up with the dark brows, which I rather like with this skin. The bold lips Juno includes with her skins are luscious and give high fashion and energy to the look. I went with the blue option on Queue Marlowe’s color HUD to change up this look a bit and lend some more of that high fashion energy to Wicca’s outfit.

The Dinner Party

I’m having a dinner party. An intimate party for four. I have the table, the chairs, the plates and glasses and cutlery, and the space. Tobias Convair is offering this gorgeous modern set, loosely based on Corbusier’s ideas (like the table is TOTALLY Corbusier), at FaMESHed this month. I added one of Kayly Iali’s art pieces from Casa as décor and my room is complete.

Something casual, a bit eclectic, speaking to my ease at home but also a bit of formality. Well, that’s a lot of jumbo for “Look at this cute outfit I put together! Whee!” Start with this darling minidress from Azlyn Vaher that is all over the feeds because it’s going to be at District 5 in a few days. It comes with a great texture-change HUD that allows several variations in prints, sash color, ties and necklace. I loved clicking into a look I like. I paired it with leggings from Tatyana Ultsch and these darling mesh boots from Tesla Miles (that come in over a dozen color combos with a texture-change HUD as well).

My wonderful hair is from TOmmy Fairplay for Depraved Nation’s District 5 as well. When I first saw this one, I jumped up and down because it’s a sassy short ‘do for girls with a lot of personality and character. I was glad to see TOmmy mixed mesh and flexi to make the look great and it comes with the great texture-change HUD that Damselfly offers. My luminous skin is Shyla Diggs’ newest for Collabor88 with lovely, glowing makeup. I added one of the many lipstick tattoos to change up my look a bit.

Ready for my dinner party. Now, how to figure out how to make SL food taste better than styrofoam or plywood….
