Feeling Beautiful

Today I got up early, made pancakes, watched the tail end of a movie, then drove to the salon for some pampering. I got my hair cut, colored and highlighted and a manicure, and I felt just gorgeous when I left. What is it about these moments of self-transformation that make us feel so wonderful? Is there some beauty spa endorphin rush someone hasn’t discovered? Maybe it’s those relaxation candles they have (though they never work quite that well at home.)

Feeling Beautiful

This dress from Elettra Gausman also gives me that same kind of charge. With its great faux animal print (looks kind of Filter Forge), the dress is well made with the texture logically carried out through the bodice, into the skirt and the sculpty shoulder piece. Elettra gives it a sexy cut up the side and wraps the torso with the edge line to make the waist look even smaller. It’s great design. What I really like about Elettra’s work is that she creates a brand new item with each thing. I never see motifs or templates repeated. She doesn’t make one dress and then 12 color variations of it. Each piece stands out on its own and when she shines, she really shines.

Feeling Beautiful

I have donned a new hair from Mirja Mills that creates movement and drama in this photo. She called it “Windblown,” and it really is. Nena Janus’ elegant and sexy skin completes the look with bright red lips.

I love these new shoes from Kalnins with their strappy silhouette. These have to be my favorites they have offered yet, and they provide their own sort of endorphin rush.

Sometimes I have to take on a challenge and follow through on it. I won’t specify today’s challenge, but I will lead you to Renee Lowenhart’s blog, Fabfree, for a hint.

You know, it’s not easy making a clown skin look sexy but I kind of pulled it off with this sexy little mini and sleeves from Aikea Rieko. Her store is an amazing array of textures on finely made sexy little numbers. It’s hard to choose what you might want because she gives you such a variety. Her system textures are excellently executed; her textures very well drawn. Luckily, she was having a “Black Like My Soul” sale so the choosing was easy. (And I felt very poetic.. and emo.. snatching up all these black items for about two seconds until I got over it with happiness at finding them on sale.)

This hair, offered by Elettra Gausman as a dollarbie, is a bright red homage to the glam-style bowl cut. As it’s only one prim, it’s low arc. It looks terrific with this skin from Wynx Whiplash that I have been sitting on for a while, waiting for a good chance to wear it. This was it!

Taming the Wild

I have been planning my in-world holiday party, which promises to be a fantastic fete. The theme is flamenco, so I have been trying on outfits. This one is a definite contender.

Taming the Wild

Elettra Gausman is a designer of elegance and theatricality. Her dresses belong on catwalks for beauty pageants as well as on red carpets. She especially seems to have a keen understanding of how to make the system skirt work, making it sexy and long. In this dress, she takes advantage of the stretch of the front of the skirt—a place that often “breaks” by making it slit up to there. But she breaks the unfortunate necessary roundness of the skirt by putting in a prim skirt at the knee, turning it into something elegant and graceful.

Taming the Wild

Then there’s the dangerous back, cut down to a very provocative end point. One pixel more and this would seem absurd but as it is, it is very sexy and sensuous. The texture glistens, especially at the waist and hemline. She hit on a great combo here.

Elettra includes a set of handmade pearls that drape down the back with this dress. They just didn’t work for me, so I chose to wear a set of black pearls from Alienbear Gupte. I especially like the earrings—the pearls are handsomely arranged and of a sheen and shape that conveys richness.

I am wearing a hair from Aemilia Case, who does an amazing number of versatile and cute hairs. This one I especially like because it is elegant and dressy with its side chignon and PERFECT for flamenco. I colored the originally pink hibiscus red to match the lipstick in Tuli Asturias’ skin.

Taming the Wild

Finally, the shoes. I show here a wonderful pair from Sissy Pessoa. I am not sure when Sissy sleeps—her store is chock full of new and wonderful content. She has a whole area of SHOES (which is a downfall for me). The shoes I show here are especially elegant with their sleek stiletto and sweet buckle.
