Pink Punk

A pink punk princess is today’s look, made so by Datrip Blackbart’s fascinating dress made for Fashionart. With a metal framed peplum skirt over a zebra-striped and rose bud black mini, the dress is a juxtaposition of textures and ideas and overall, a success. I love the modified halter top of the dress, the colors, the idea of metals and fabrics and sequins, and yet it all goes together, unified by the color pink. GraceHaddington’s versatile handbag, being sold also at Fashionart, has a 60 Pantone color HUD. Senzati0n Domenitzo is offering these terrific strappy shoes at Fashionart with six colors on the HUD and they fit Slink feet. Yay!

I dressed up Aleida Rhode’s intense new skin with pretty pink lips and prim glittering eyeshadow from Aida Ewing. (Yes, mesh eyeshadow!) Chiaki Xue’s newest boy hair makes the look with her great pink hairbase. The hair is what turns the princess into a pink punk and makes her sleek and edgy. My Siberian irises are going to bloom one day soon, I hope. I see the abundance of leaves coming out of the ground. When they arrive, it’s as if Monet visited the side of my house. This dress from Spooky Mistwallow that she is featuring at Fashionart, with its lovely abstract flower print and elegant long shape, reminded me of those irises. Spooky does use mesh templates, but she does more than just throw a texture on. She understands the silhouette of the mesh and includes artistic touches such as flower at the shoulder and this long flexi translucent scarf with a gorgeous texture to turn the dress from simply cute to gorgeously sexy.

I spent a fair amount of time finding shoes to go with the dress and discovered Freya Olivieri’s lovely sandals for Slink feet that include a texture change HUD to manage the bow, inner and outer soles and the heel. It was a perfect match!

Inka Mexicola has lately been giving us tender, expressive skins that include beautifully shaped brows, eyes and lips. I love the coloring on this skin that is being sold at The Dressing Room Fusion (which means it’s a ridiculously low price). I was so delighted to match the orchids in Carina Larsen’s new up do with the eye make-up in the skin and the flowers on Spooky’s dress. That bright blue and lavender combo is gorgeous and reminds me of the beautiful irises soon to come.

The Fashionart event is still going on and in honor of the “art” of the event, I found myself at an SL exhibit (thanks to Stephen) taking photos of this amazing mesh dress from LyricalBizarre. She has created a dress that wraps around the body like a long ribbon, running right down the arm with a mermaid tail flair at the bottom. It’s a unique and dramatic dress, perfect for an art theme, and she has made a ridiculously intricate alpha to fit under the dress so peekaboo skin shows between the straps.

JuneMonteiro’s skin for Fashionart is featured again because of its elegance and dramatic beauty. A gorgeous updo from Carina Larsen tops the look with its stylish upsweep and soft rolls of hair. Big bold earrings from AvaGardner Kungler complete the look.

Libertango

When I saw this gown from Carrie Snowpaw that she is featuring at Fashionart, I was immediately reminded of Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” a famous piece of tango nuevo. I went searching online, of course, and found it being danced in a gown similar to this while being performed by the Russian Philharmonic, which I could only consider was kismet. (Click through because it is seriously gorgeous dancing and beautifully arranged and performed. And here is another dance performance even more gorgeous.) Why did I think of this music? The gown is elegant and dramatic all at once, ruffled and sleek at the same time, feminine and bold. With gorgeous jewelry from Zuri Rayna that includes texture change in the different gems and stones, it’s an elegant, dramatic piece perfect for this ensemble.

I can’t help but think that the drama also comes from this gorgeous skin that JuneMonteiro is featuring at Fashionart. June is, in real life, a textile designer, so her sense of fashion and art extends from RL into SL. Her skin is elegant with the heated zest of a Brazilian beauty. She offers the Slink appliers free at Fashionart for her skin, and she also sells a set of liners and lipsticks. My high up-do is one of Shylah Honey’s gorgeous pieces for Fashionart, an abundance of soft hair and wisps and drama, perfect for a passionate tango.

Everything Starts from a Dot

Fashionart opened to much fanfare today and many of the creators were inspired by specific artists. Brianna Passiflora took inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky, who it is argued was the original abstract artist. He explored color theory, the tension of colors with each other, the relation of art to music and the spirituality of being an artist. He is one of the artists who pulled formal art into modernity. It is appropriate that Brianna chose his work because the bright colors pop on the dress and accessories she has included. It’s a charming outfit that includes other pieces as well that I don’t show here.

I am so glad Senzati0n Domenitzo has started using the Slink feet for her terrific shoes. She has always had great looking shoes but the foot was always a hassle to deal with in a Slink-dominated grid. Now she is making shoes for the Slink feet and they are fashionable and versatile (and very reasonably priced). This pair comes with a HUD with texture change (hence it’s a fatpack) and fits perfectly!

Aida Ewing has popped her head out to put out some darling skins at Collabor88 for the retro theme they have going on, but the skins can be worn pretty much with anything. With this dress I wanted bright lips that pop and this skin did the trick. My funky ponytails from Truth Hawks makes the look complete, especially when I took the hair tie from the outfit and copied it, flipping it over. I took off my sunglasses so you could see Isabelle Requiem’s gorgeous eyes. My cute poses are by Nancoix Urquan, who is offering several sets at Fashionart.

Blue Belle

Fashionart opens tomorrow and GraceHaddington is contributing a few gorgeous pieces, including this amazingly patterned dress and these high heels. While Grace is using template mesh for these pieces, what makes them work are the great patterned textures. I really get tired of solid colors all the time. Grace has a great sense of proportion for her patterns too. Both the dress and the shoes come with texture-change HUDs so you get several choices. (If you go to Fashionart looking for the dress, she shows it in a golden/yellow pattern.)

What makes my Blue Belle truly belle, of course, is this new gorgeous skin from Umazuma Metaluna with her tintable tattoo lips. Uma’s skins are expressive, unique and almost painterly with a beautiful artistic touch with an elegant façade. Truth Hawks and Maxi Gossamer are participating in Collabor88’s Rockabilly theme this go around with great retro-made-modern looks. The wavy ‘do that Truth has meshed up includes a color change bow that you do not need to wear (it looks just as good without) and comes in several sizes for your varying chest sizes *ahem*. Maxi Gossamer made these darling cat-eye glasses with color change for the wings, the shades and the lenses for a variety of looks.

The Painter

Fashionart is opening in a couple days with the theme of art as inspiration for fashion. I am getting psyched up for the event, preparing my artist’s mind for the exclusives. This cute dress from Johnydeep is a darling start with an artist’s palette on the front. Upon wearing it, I realized my mission as a painter, and set up an easel and started painting. (One of Diana Baroque’s paintings so I could look good. I couldn’t paint my way out of a paper bag.) A jaunty colorful cap from Ravenna Rossini and high heel shoes from Teekie are two more of the exclusives from Fashionart. (And if you think an artist does not wear ridiculously sexy high heels, you clearly have never met Eshi Otawara in RL.)

My glowing skin is the Nutmeg version of Carina Larsen’s newest release. With pretty brows and eyes and delicate lips, it’s a distinctively beautiful skin. Carina released a set of mesh eyes that include a HUD for sizing and glow, which I have been showing for the past few blog entries. My long locks, which fit perfectly under the hat, are Truth Hawks’ newest. Nancoix Urquan has a set of great poses for sale at Fashionart as well. Bring on the art!
