Michelle

Michelle

Michelle, my belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.

Michelle

Her name is Michelle simply because she reminds me of the actress Michelle Williams. With her cute party dress from Angelina Eizenberg, one of the featured items at the new My Second Wardrobe, she’s set for a summer day. Pretty espadrilles from Gospel Voom, his gift available at the Truth District, suit this summer frock.

Michelle

I feature a beautiful new skin from Gala Phoenix (you’re seeing a lot of them on my lately—I think I’m in love) with a scattering of freckles over a peaches and cream complexion. My short hair is one of Jeanie Valois’ featured styles at Hair Fair this year. I have to say—I love short hair and it’s darn hard to make, so this is a triumph of style. My earrings are Zaara Kohime’s featured offering at My Second Wardrobe—Zaara at a bargain price!

Michelle

I will say the only words I know that
You’ll understand, my Michelle.

To Tell the Truth

To Tell the Truth

I remember when Truth Hawks was some back alley guy who would plop a wad of prims on your head for a couple hundred linden. Then he got to be a kind of underground sensation—people in the know shopped Truth. His store got overrun with hair—hair hair hair. He made it so quickly he grew out of the store. Forget the clothes and accessories—everyone wanted that hair. Now he’s a Big Deal with a store built by Barnesworth Anubis, massive traffic (more than Franks), and a huge rep. When people ask, “Where can I get hair?” the answer is always “Truth.” This is the thing: he’s still a nice guy. If I contact him (which I do seldom as I figure he’s busy), he always answers cheerfully and with <3s. Which just goes to show—nice guys CAN finish first.

The reason I share this is because Truth is opening a NEW sim on July 1 at 9 am slt, sharing space with several designer friends. With stores like Nardcotix, Curio, Mudhoney, League, Earthstones, Miel and Miamai, Truth is packing the sim with heavy hitters, and he could do this because HE IS A NICE GUY. How else could someone gather this caliber of designers?

To Tell the Truth

Today’s look was made entirely from purchases on the new Truth District, which was built by the very charming Cory Edo. (She’s REALLY NICE too.) Big kudos to Sophia Harlow, who is doing all the grunt work for this. (Yes, she’s REALLY NICE.)

My dress is a fashionable and sexy piece from Milla Michinaga, who was the original daily look blogger (and my idol). From her blogging, she learned what needed to go into the best garments and she transferred that knowledge to her products. Exacting and fashionable, Milla always provides top notch stuff. (And she is SUPER NICE.)

My belt and sexy boots are courtesy of Gospel Voom, who makes high-quality shoes and accessories. Gos’ textures are unsurpassed and the versatility of his fat pack pieces are amazing (many color options on each piece of the item). Gos is .. UBER NICE. (And he is always up for a little randy repartee.)

To Tell the Truth

My skin is one of Gala Phoenix’s newest releases. One of MANY. I saw all her new work and felt that sickness from eating too much candy—it’s all so delightful. I wore this particular skin because it’s cute but the name really appealed—Grouch. (I want no comments from you, Callie.) Gala’s skins have become.. luminous is the best word I can think of. I am so glad she has moved in this direction. And Gala? WICKEDLY NICE.

My eyes are from Hart Larsson, who is also selling skins on Truth’s sim. I love their brightness and opacity. Hart is a TRULY NICE man (and a great artist). My poses are from Katey Coppola, who is SASSILY NICE. My hair is Truth’s GIFT to us all. In fact, many of the designers are going to be offering gifts in celebration of the opening. You HAVE to join the Truth Update Group to click on the special vendors and they will only be out til July 5.

Summer Breeze

See the curtains hangin’ in the window
in the evenin’ on a Friday night
A little light a-shinin’ through the window
lets me know everything is alright

Summer Breeze

Anyusha Lilienthal recently released her Summer Jam line which made me think of the song “Summer Breeze.” God knows we need some summer breeze as another snowstorm is predicted in my area. I am glad Anyusha is coming out with this—from the mojito-flavored top to the funky Miami beat skirt, it makes me feel warm and sunshiney to wear this. Anyusha even includes a matching necklace!

Summer Breeze

My skin is a beauty just released by sachi Vixen in four darker skin tones—this being one of the lighter ones. Sachi includes a set of lipsticks and eye shadows as well as cleavage and nail polishes. I chose to wear this muted lipstick and piercing green eyes from Ikon Innovia. My cute little espadilles are from Gospel Voom, with color change options for parts of the shoe.

Finally, my hair with hat is from Nishant Zobovic. Blessedly the hat is tintable and the ribbon can be as well if you choose. I like this option. The hair itself, and all the demos I tried on were static—no flexi. Kind of a bummer.

:. WoE .: at Fashion for Life

Dick Wiesel has been bringing sexy casual to SL for three years, giving girls and guys the kind of grungy burnished look that takes them out of the fantasy ballrooms and plunks them into a more revved up real life.

Woe at Fashion for Life

Did I mention sexy? Dick seems to have some secret sauce in his clothes that he adds that makes them simmer with a sort of understated sexiness. Yes, there are bared midriffs but rarely do you see something overtly skin baring.

Woe at Fashion for Life

It’s as if Dick’s fantasy of sexy is the girl next door, amped up a little with some grunge, some complex textures and some easy casual. I mean, Dick’s favorite girl looks sexy in sweats and a loose tank top.

Woe at Fashion for Life

Dick also offers some great looks for men, along the same line, and he will be showing all this and FIVE new offerings at Fashion for Life, which is open NOW. Dick generously and unhesitatingly offered to sponsor a sim, offering his brand name and an ample donation to support the American Cancer Society. The sim he sponsors, Shulman, has been lauded by Tyr Rozenblum as “bad ass.” Come see it and all the great stores on it and the other eight sims.

Azul at Fashion for Life

Evening wear in SL is a big deal. Lots of women and men want to come into SL and live out their fantasy and dream of being wealthy, well-dressed, and elegant. Mami Jewell understands this too well and caters to the well-dressed set with her beautifully textured dresses.

Azul at Fashion for Life

Mami’s offerings at Azul range from the drop dead sexy to elegant to dramatic. She has mastered the high-cut leg to perfection, making elegant sexy with a mere slit up the fabric of the skirt.

Azul at Fashion for Life

Mami has also mastered the prim, using sculpties and flexis with ease, allowing her design to dictate the prims rather than the reverse. Her texturing is unparalleled with shadows running over the prims and into the system pieces seamlessly, creating the perfect fantasy of beautiful couture.

Azul at Fashion for Life

Mami has generously contributed to Fashion for Life in the past with her designs. This year she has continued her generosity with a VIP Sponsorship. She knows the money she has donated and the money from her donated creations goes 100% to the American Cancer Society.

Azul at Fashion for Life

See what Mami is offering this year at the Fashion for Life, March 12-22, SL’s biggest fashion fair on 9 sims hosted by the American Cancer Society and SL’s Relay for Life.

Infatuation

“I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty… you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are.” ~ JD Salinger

Infatuation

Today I had the distinct honor of speaking to Kaseido Quandry’s class regarding virtuality, my virtual being, etc. After the formal end of the class, I changed over to my piggy avatar and plunked myself down next to one of the students in the class. I flirted with him as Piggy, asking him if he liked girls with “a little ham on their hocks.” The class told me he turned a beet red in class in embarrassment. I had to giggle. I think he was a wee bit infatuated with Piggy. (He was also a good sport.)

Maybe it wasn’t Piggy but how Harper looked before I changed. I wore this cutesexy dress from Mika Nieuport with its color change belt and luscious rich knit textures with her great tights and some sportysexy boots from Gospel Voom to the class (because Kaseido pays close attention to what I wear, I learned). The earthy palette matched my earthy approach to things, I suspect.

Infatuation

A glowing Tuli Asturias skin was touched up with a little magic from Mocksoup Graves, who offers useful and subtle makeups to slightly alter your look in SL. I like that the lips overlay Tuli’s skin without remaking it, the eyeshadows (as I show here) fit perfectly. I accessorized with this gorgeous jewelry from Lynaja Bade. And my long luscious locks are a new offering from Truth Hawks, who injects every one of his hair styles with a bit of sexy.

The Words Left Unsaid

One of the oddest issues of SL that a new person has to wrap their head around is the timing and meaning of IMs. When you call someone on the phone or speak to someone and they don’t respond, you have a set of reasonable interpretations of what this silence means. But when you IM and get no response, what does it mean?

The Words Left Unsaid

In this new technological age, we have had to rewire our brains to understand a non-response is sometimes something different than we think. If you IM me and I don’t respond, it could be anything. I try really hard to put my busy response on (“Yes, I heard you.. yeah I totally agree.. uh huh.. How dare he?”) but sometimes I have to go afk or I am in another window for what I was thought a brief time. Or sometimes SL puts your IM in my email (grrrr).

Sometimes I am positioning a photo.. or two… or three. For example, for this blog, I spent the entire time chatting with Syngen Sohmers about how people drive in Egypt. While I was admiring the cleverly done vest prim and the excellent textures from this outfit by Sandie Saenz, Sygnen was denying any chaos on Egyptian roads. As I adjusted my belt (only slightly), she was explaining how Egyptians are simply efficient by fitting more cars on the road. My laugh was delayed but she understood.

The Words Left Unsaid

I am especially unreachable when I am zooming in for a close up. It’s really not hard to take a beautiful photo of Nena Janus’ skin, but it still needs concentration. While my beautiful hair from Queue Marlowe (a beauty herself) falls around my shoulders, I want to make sure everything is in place, and at that moment I might not be able to “lol.”

The Words Left Unsaid

Sometimes I just can’t respond to an IM because I am in awe. Gospel Voom’s new boots put me in that state of speechlessness. Between their sleek look and their versatility, these boots are a godsend for fashionistas across the grid. Two days ago I showed the chunky heel on the white boot. Today I show the stiletto. Available in a wide variety of colors, Gospel gives you all sorts of great options, like being able to switch the scripts to lagfree, being able to make full bright (for whatever reason), changing the hardware on the boots, etc. And frankly, they are sexy as heck. So now you know why your IM was met with silence. I was staring at these boots in wonder.

The Words Left Unsaid

“I can’t come to the IM window right now so please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.”

What’s New, Pussycat?

Pussycat, Pussycat
I love you
Yes, I do!
You and your pussycat nose!

What's New, Pussycat?

When your partner says she has never heard you so “ooey gooey,” and generally she thinks you are cranky, you know someone has hit a soft spot. I was invited to the KittyCatS sim once again, this time to cuddle the little kittens that will be soon be offered for sale. Breedable, holdable and transferable, these kittens are going to become the favored pets of many, including the fashion crowd (can anyone say optional diamond collars with matching jewelry for their owners).

What's New, Pussycat?

Although these kittens can be bred, they are really pets. Furniture, baskets, feeding bowls, even a cute suitcase by Barnesworth Anubis, are all offered as accessories to pamper your pets. They have come up with all sorts of features for breedable owners that make them user-friendly and also the opportunity to make the cat permanent so you don’t have to deal with breeding or feeding.

I got to walk around with my test kitty and take photos. He sat happily in my lap for this shot. I had a hard time handing him back. What is brilliant about the kittens is that they ACT like cats. When I went to click to hold him (you don’t have to “wear” it), he strolled away and then finally decided to come back around to be held—snooty just like a real cat!

What's New, Pussycat?

The textures for the kittens were made by my friendship partner, Callie Cline (which some people had guessed—the eyes are very Callie-like) and the sculpties were designed and sourced by Callie. The scripting was done by Dennis Lagan. Equinox Pinion is also part of the development team. (If those names sound familiar, they are the owners of the Fruit Island Estates, SL’s sixth largest estate.) The team of Callie, Dennis and Equinox did an amazing job of making the kittens catlike. The sweet cuddle animation when you hold the kitten was made by Isabella Baroque.

What's New, Pussycat?

You do realize I can’t pass on doing a little fashion here. My cute dress with scarf is from Moonstone Eiren, who has a sweet little shop in Caledon. She works hard on her stuff, fashioning each piece with care and artistry. I really like this for the great ruffled skirt. My sexy-as-heck boots are from Gospel Voom, a recent new offering which I will be showing again so I can give them more attention. My hair is from Catwa Clip, a new store for me and offering hair with exciting volume and flexiness. And finally, my luminous skin is from Apple May, and you will be seeing more of this skin. I really really like it.

What's New, Pussycat?

Pussycat, Pussycat

Caught in the Rain

City girls who run around town know you shouldn’t be caught without an umbrella these days. The weather is turning colder, the leaves are mostly off the trees, and a rainstorm could come down at any time on a gray day to drench you, so it pays to be prepared.

Caught in the Rain

First, have your umbrella. Second, have a good warm coat like this one from cocoro Lemon. I love how cocoro has styled the coat with a cheetah print inside. This coat is so authentic, from its dangling laces to its hood to its untailored silhouette. She was smart to make the coat open and a little oversized—it’s the cheetah that gives it zing. I donned pants from Uriah Eulenberg that I got in a set I purchased at a Designers United event. Made for men, the pants are high waisted knickers with a great wool tweedy texture. Blessedly, they look great on women too. I layer cheetah print leggings from Anyusha Lilienthal underneath, part of her animal series. And a cheetah print top from Mimikri Kit, picked up at a recent Dressing Room foray, completes my outfit.

Caught in the Rain

Mallory Cowen still presents some of the freshest skins on the grid and her new Phoebe2 is no exception. Once again we have the unbeatable glow that Mallory advertises, the finely shaped eyebrows, the expressive eye makeups, the pretty lips and the great skin tones.

Onyx LeShelle recently came out with a new slew of content—hair and shoes. I have not had a chance to check out the shoes, but I certainly liked her new hair selections, especially as they show movement and life despite the static nature of sculpties. (Though she has always been good at making hair look less like a prim on the head and more like individual strands making a whole.) I loved this hair for this look—anyone caught in the rain would be a bit disheveled.

Caught in the Rain

Gospel Voom has recently come out with a new set of women’s boots and they are fabulous and chic, especially when one might be concerned that Gospel can only do clunky Doc Martens. These are well-built with a gorgeous sculpty shape and absolutely brilliant leather textures. I love the little leather tie.

Caught in the Rain

a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think i too have known
autumn too long
