Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

I know it’s a little premature but the days are getting shorter with nightfall coming sooner. A full moon is in the offing in a day or two, so this look seemed appropriate for a vampire weekend.

Vampire Weekend

I really love this little dress from Moonbubble Gothly with its ruffled sleeves and legs. The best part is the texture she has on the dress itself—something speckled randomly like feathers almost with touches of red here and there. I love the low cut front. I can see many a gothy girl looking dangerously sexy in this. I dressed it up with fishnets and a new collar from Matchbook Monday with tiny little spikes and a convenient leash ring in front.

My boots are sex-on-a-stick knee high buckled and laced wonders from Paul Lapointe. With a resize script that adjusts for length, width and height separately, the boots can be made to fit just perfectly.

Vampire Weekend

My skin is red lips layered over pale skin. I goofed and wore lips from the wrong skin tone but it came out ok. I love Monicuzza Babenco’s newest lips—the small curve to the smile offsets those frowny faces out there. My hair is a moody bangs-in-the-face wavy wild from Neveah Niu that suited this look ideally.

My Darkest Days

“It was then, staring into the shadows, that my eyes first became dark.” –Darkness-enshrouded Shadows, Bitter (Random quote generated by The Goth Quote Random Generator.)

My Darkest Days

I don’t do the dark look very often. I don’t hang out in dark sims (except RFyre, which is actually less dark than one might imagine–Raven is about the most cheerful “Goth” you can ever meet). This gothic Lolita dress from Setsuna Hirano caught my interest, however. I just loved the silhouette, the rich textures and well.. the idea of it. I could feel the stiff crinolines under the skirt, feel the stiff constraint of the heavy brocade fabric, the pinch of the buttons closing the jacket over all the laces underneath.

My Darkest Days

My skin is a new one from sachi Vixen, who is riding the Twilight bandwagon. She sells separately a line of makeups that can overlay the skin, one of which I show here. This pale white skin is perfect for my dark mood. My moody fringed-bangs hair is from Truth Hawks (who knew he could pull off Goth?) and my boots are wonderful bowed standards from LeeZu Baxter and Enktan Gully.

Leather Princess

Some days you just want to run over to the Demonic Empire and listen to some hard rock or industrial and dance with your friends and have a good old time. OK, I have to admit, hard rock is not my thing, but the people at Demonic are as nice as they come.

Leather Princess

Even though I work for RFyre, I don’t generally dress for a Demonic Empire evening. (I just don’t get out that much.) Vixn Dagger, however, has made outfits that will take me to the Demonic and elsewhere. With her well-drawn system pieces, vamp styling (that is sexy but not ridiculous), and great proportion of skin to clothing (in other words, it’s not *all* hanging out but what is looks hot), she sells a sexy leather look for a reasonable price (and she includes with this look shoes AND boots).

Leather Princess

Vixn started out as a lady who sold shapes and eyes. She has quickly ramped up her business and offers a variety of women’s and men’s clothes for goth or club wear in her store. I will admit—Vixn is a friend of mine. And honestly, she is one of the hardest working women in SL. And Vixn knows sexy. When the leather pants are stripped off, this sexy thong and stocking set can be found underneath.

Leather Princess

A look like this demands a wild tossed hair. DBS Heart, known for such styles, made this particular beauty with tendrils that curl into the face, softening the face. And what a face—another by Tuli Asturias with its deep dark eyes and luscious dark lips. Beautiful dangling flexi earrings by Elbereth Nightfire finish the look.

Gothic Geisha

Two looks in SL that are much liked because they have elements of fantasy and otherworldliness are goth and Japanese kimonos.

Gothic Geisha

Morrigan Denimore mixes them up with this spectacular kimono. When he first passed “The Old Soul” to me, I asked him if he was trying to tell me something (because right before this one he had passed me “The Frigid Belle”). I love Morrigan’s work because he is always trying something new and something different. His work is very gothic in the most Japanese gothic lolita sense—he has the aristocrat dandy down to a tee. So this is a homage to the culture from which the lolita comes.

Gothic Geisha

When I was putting together this look, I struggled to find the right footwear and sent an SOS out to the fashion bloggers group. Stacia Villota piped up and reminded me that footwear are sometimes called geta and then she IM’d me with recommendations. Her blog is a treasure trove of such information. You can check out her list of SL kimono stores (and sigh at her beautiful photos).

Finally, I want to give kudos to elsa Liebknicht for this hauntingly lovely goth skin. She has the skin tone just right—not too white and with a very subtle glow. I am not sure how she pulls this off, but she does make it look almost luminescent. The eyes are dark but not bruised. The lips are the same. It is a vey great skin for gothic dress up.

Mysterious for RFL

Have you ever seen that raven-haired woman, the one with the sly smile on her face and the legs up to there, wearing sexy boots with stiletto heels and looking mysterious and interesting?

Darksexy for RFL

Me too. Never met her. Never had the guts to talk to her. She was kind of intimidating. That doesn’t mean I can’t try dressing up like her for this post, and wearing Solange Cerveau’s offering to benefit RFL might be the ticket to unlocking her secrets. With Solange’s incredible system skills and sexy aesthetic, this dress comes off sexy and elegant all at once. Solange has always gotten “it”—having a short skirt is not all that’s needed. She has full sleeves ending in lace cuffs, a sexily wrapped torso and then she shows skin with a criss-cross back, plunging neckline and a skirt up as far as it can go before it just becomes crass. Solange, like Delora, was obligated to make her ads PG especially for the Fair; check out her great ads at the Fair.

Darksexy for RFL

Tuli Asturias’ Eve skin seems pretty innocuous and sweet for the most part until you wear it with these red lips and the sparkly eyeshadow (how does she do that). Pair it with this wicked hair from Lamb Bellic and suddenly you have a beautiful alternative girl, a suicidegirl with a great collar made by Vasha Martinek. (By the way, I have a frowny face Harper shape—one that looks like a fashion model. I tried her face shape with this look, and it was all wrong. I went back to slightly smiling Harper. She is much sexier, I think. Who wouldn’t want to know what’s making her smile?)

I am showing the gothic boots from Oct Oakleaf’s new offerings, this time with the handy uh.. cuffs removed. (Get the scoop on the cuffs here.) Oct has made some very darksexy boots here with the filigree embossed in red on a supple black leather. Check the beautiful folds around the ankle—now that’s a sculpty.
