Lothiriel at RFL

Most who have been involved with the RFL agree that the Milan sim is one of the most beautiful of an outstanding group of sims. Reminding people of the grandeur of Italian cities and the beautiful symmetry that lies within, the Milan sim was entirely built by Luna Barak, who as owner of Moonstruck, is also the sponsor of the sim. Let me highlight that sponsorship of a sim means the sponsor pays a pretty hefty fee to occupy the biggest space and to get their name on top. So give Luna some business!

Classic RFL

And let me tell you, you will get your money’s worth if you do. Luna’s day job is a producer of fantasy and RP wear in SL. I am wearing Luna’s offering for benefit of RFL. With its filigreed outer cape and the collaged inner skirt, this dress is a beautiful creation with complex details showing Luna’s amazing skill. She layers pieces on this dress.. as you pull each piece off, you marvel at how she fit it all together, like an amazing 3D puzzle. The bodice is not a system piece as you would guess but an amazingly sculpted front piece with the exquisite vine straps and belt integrated into it. And the colors greet the spring with their glimmering brilliance. It’s just an amazing piece of work all round.

Classic RFL

I styled the gown with one of Tuli Asturias’ great new skins from her Eva line. Every time I don these skins, I gasp at how lovely I look. I have received several compliments. The depth of the eye makeup and plummy tone of the lips on this particular skin compliment the dress wonderfully.

Lothiriel means “flower garlanded maiden” with loth meaning “blossom” and riel meaning “garlanded maiden.” (from Wikipedia)

Roses for RFL

The coolest thing about the RFL Clothing Fair is that it is a huge mall, full of tons of designers, established and not, who are giving a piece of their work in benefit of cancer research but are also getting a chance to show off to a group of people they may not customarily hit. I have found some of my favorite designers in SL at the RFL Clothing Fair, previously unknown to me.

Elle74 Zaftig is a designer whose work you should get to know while you are there. I had met Elle74 Zaftig before because she did me the fine favor of making custom kilts for a friend (the McAlister and Wallace kilts now found in her shop). All she asked for were the tartans and she went to town. And boy does she know how to make a kilt. Now, there is nothing like a man in a kilt—the way his hips sway, the strength of his legs, the promise underneath. Elle gets that. She made this one specially for the RFL vendors—all proceeds will go to RFL. I suggest, gentlemen, if you want to catch a discerning lady’s eye, you get this one.

Elle also makes beautiful gowns. She made a McAlister tartan gown for me at one time that was stunning (and is being sold at RFL—woot!), and here she turns to making a more traditional gown to sell alongside the kilt. The most beautiful part of this gown, of course, is the trimming around the chest and arms. Look at the beautiful roses and laces and ribbons. (And Elle priced this at a mere 250L to get many buyers and donations—grab it!) I wear with this a lovely ring and earrings I got from Serenite Stransky’s shop at the Accessory Fair.

Finally let me talk about skin. I am wearing Tuli Asturias’ newest release, Eva. She has finally gotten a chance to get back in world to grace us all with her considerable talents. Eva is a subtle and beautiful. I have worn the preview skin over and over for these blogs; now she has come out with them, I get to wear the full set. You will be seeing more of these skins over the coming weeks.

Another skin maker I have been rockin on is KaoZ Koba (who with his fierce partner, Pompeja Rossini, has been running LaVie). You saw his work on my manly man. Now see him on this manly Scot in his kilts. (By the way, this kilt does have glitch pants. However, her men’s leather kilts are commando—as they should be ;))

How grand the human race would be
If every man would wear a kilt,
A flirt of Tartan finery,
Instead of trousers, custom built!

Coriander and Nutmeg

One of my favorite Indian spices is Garam Masala. A mix of spices which varies by recipe and by region in India, it is always blended in a manner in which one spice never predominates.

Nutmeg and Coriander

I am reminded of it because of the fashions of Aradhana Voight. Aradhana is Indio-European—a lady who grew up in Europe in an Indian family, speaking the same language as her classmates but coming from a distinctively different racial and cultural background. The clothing she makes in SL shows that blending of east and west, as it were. She combines elements of sarees with more traditional European or American styles.

Nutmeg and Coriander

Take this evening dress from Aradhana. She visited the bazaars of the market to find the fabric for this dress with its golden patterns and sheer sensuous folds. However, she also cut the skirt up the thigh, added a distinctively Western bow to the hip and a decidedly sexy cut.

Nutmeg and Coriander

I have included Aradhana’s exquisite jewelry with this outfit. Aradhana’s textures contribute to the designs, providing the color and intricacy the jewelry needs. Add to that the pure pleasure of the jewelry. Oftentimes when I wear a necklace, earrings seem redundant or it seems excessive. With this jewelry, there is never too much—each piece is designed with a separate shape but following a similar motif, so piling it on adds layers of complexity rather than overabundance. This is harder to achieve than the average consumer realizes.

I compliment this ensemble with a luscious skin from Monicuzza Babenco and hair from Alexiander Biedermann. (I modified the front curl and pushed it in to let the head jewels show.) Finally, a most luscious pair of Onxy LeShelle’s shoes complete this look, making me sexy from top to bottom.

Fall Finds Me

I looked outside today, out to the dreary, rainy street with the leaves scattered all over and realized my favorite parts of fall were passing before my eyes, washed away in a rain storm. So I logged on.

Fall Finds Me

The great thing about SL is I can take away the rain, set to sunset, and have a beautiful crisp fall day. And today I wanted to blog fashion about the beauty of fall. So I ran over to forest feast (because you know, I had a fashion blog to do so getting flowers was VERY important). I filled my arms with flowers and trees and ran back to my sim and donned this beautiful gown from Nicky Ree.

With its autumnal motif, it really needed to be put on and displayed among the beautiful creations of miki Morigi. A full fantasy dress, the outfit includes a long flowing translucent cape, beautifully shifting skirt prims, and system pieces typical of Nicky—beautifully and subtly textured.

Long loose hair is only appropriate so I wore this lustrous creation from Truth Hawks. The ideal skin was the subtle Wheat/Blush from the Valeries line by Lorac Farella.

Earth Mother

The Swansong at the Black Swan sim, soon to be closed by Rezzable as they leave Second Life with only Greenies, is quite a round-up of fashion designers in Second Life. As I was helping Raven set down her panel for “Black Flame,” I cammed around the area, feeling that familiar twinge of the need to shop as I saw everyone’s creations.

Earth Mother

That same evening, Lorac passed over a photo of her new Wheat/Desire skin, and I realized the perfect look was in my hands. With Dezi Jarvinen’s Mother Nature Gown in Earth, I was able to put together an earth mother look that appealed to the Taurus in me. Dezi designed a dress with beautifully rendered leaves and branches and a cleverly designed sheer green skirt. It compliments the vision of natural beauty shown with Lorac’s skin.

Earth Mother

What is also clever about this outfit is that the pretty underneath pieces turn into a sexy bikini when you take the prims and outer layers off. So Mother Earth can get down-to-earth and down to business in a split second. Dezi did the kind service of providing the clothing on all layers, which many may be considered convenient but made the ensemble confusing for me.
