Blue Monday

It’s a blue Monday only in color—not in feelings.

Blue Monday

It’s truly a delightful Monday. Miko Omegamu has just come out with another dress, and as always, it’s the picture of elegance and sophistication. One of the best pieces any woman can have in her wardrobe is a wrap dress and Miko makes this to perfection with a silk charmeuse fabric, elegantly tailored. I decided to dress it up with pearls from Mouse Mimistrobell and matching slingbacks from Pixieplumb Flanagan. A little clutch from Indyra Seigo adds a little pop.

Blue Monday

Finally I wear an elegant twist from Elikapeka Tiramisu (this outfit is all about twists and wraps if you didn’t notice) and Mocksoup Graves adds a perfect tint with her lip stain on a beautiful birthday gift Rhapzody Wilde offered at her store celebration.

Blue Monday

I petition that we call it silk Monday and wear silk.

I Want Candy

I know a guy who’s tough but sweet
He’s so fine, he can’t be beat
He’s got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire

I want candy….

I Want Candy

This sweet little outfit from Indyra Seigo reminds me so much of peppermint starlights and tangy cherry lollipops. With its candy-striped skirt and bodice, darling ribbon belt and cute cropped jacket complete with rose, a girl can feel sweet and pretty.

I Want Candy

My skin is a new offering from Alexandra Barcelos. It adds to the sweetness of this look with its gentle blush and charming demeanor. I wear bright blue eyes from Ikon Innovia and darling ponytails from Truth Hawks.

I Want Candy

Finally sweet little delectable clogs from Fallingwater Cellardoor that make the entire outfit pretty and mouth watering.

I Want Candy

So sweet, you make my mouth water
I want candy, I want candy

Changing Into Warmth and Vanity

I have known Erehwon Yoshikawa for a while now. She and I met after dancing week after week at Tiphares. I became in awe of her incredible music collection and calm and classy style. I met Erehwon face to face (to my surprise) at SLCC last year. It was so surprising I didn’t recognize who she said she was til later. I am glad she wasn’t put off my by weird expression. I have since met her wonderful partner (they are two incredibly cool people), and I have found out what a loyal and warm friend she truly is. And intelligent—unbelievably intelligent.

Erehwon has her own style, one that usually finds itself comfortable with steampunk or middle-Eastern or Indian attire or sometimes East Asian (since she has a recent obsession with Crunchyroll). She is comfortable in her shape, which is slightly rounded with an exquisitely pretty face. She is never ordinary, never cliched. I think this is another reason why I am so glad she’s a friend.

When I started in Second Life, I favored black and grey. They are dramatic, statement colors, and I wanted to play at steampunk (even if, as my RL partner, The Chemist, points out that the Victorian era was when aniline-based dyes were developed.) I’m playing with color in my wardrobe now.

Changing into Warmth and Vanity

I’m wearing Vanidad, by Indyra Seigo. Indyra has been making casual dresses and outfits with a dramatic flare in Second Life for several years. Vanidad means vanity, but you would had guessed that from the peacock plume print on the silk skirt. The highlights on the print pop out beautifully against the rich, dark brown silk of the skirt which almost tricks the eye into perceiving it as a dark burgundy. Printing the feathers on black silk would had been dramatic, but would rob the skirt of it’s warmth. While the skirt is both warm, and dramatic the top glows. Indyra takes care to add highlighting to the trim pieces, and shadows to the folds and sleeves.

Changing into Warmth and Vanity
The portrait of Ada Lovelace I’m standing next to was one the first things I made inworld, uploading her image from her wikipedia page. I still love having a victorian-esque garret to work in.

As I always do, I wear Mallory Cowen’s LAQ Carina skin in peach, and a modified version of the Marta shape by Melanie774 Kidd for Mela’s. The round soft face, dimpled chin, and sturdy hips are the body I feel most comfortable wearing inworld. Both skin and shape flow together with the top and skirt. And as a non-standard sized avatar, I appreciated how easy it was to tailor Vanidad to fit me: the skirt just had to go a touch larger, the ribbon tie pulled out of my chest, and the sleeve tops resized and recentered on my narrower shoulders. The glasses are PrimOptic’s Celeste. I have had these glasses since my first day in Second Life. I remember asking the first well dressed person I saw where I could find a nice pair of cat’s eye frames. They suggested Prim Optic and I’ve worn them ever since. (Also, you can shift the glasses to the top of your head with a click, for when you’re reading, or raising your cute factor.) The hair is Truth Hawks, because I must have big hair with bangs to feel like me, and the artful messiness of the hair is perfect for the outfit.

Changing into Warmth and Vanity

The shoes are Zaara Kohime’s Ilaida Mojri slippers. These are not as fanciful as the ornate slippers by Moon Ling that I usually wear, but they are elegant and perfect for standing on the balcony, and visiting with friends from sunset to the early hours of a summer morning.

It just takes practice.

There are a few friends in SL who are dear to me, whose friendship reaches beyond SL. (I am sure everyone has friends like that.) Douglas Story is one of those friends. So it was with great pleasure that I got the first dance with him at the opening of his new art installation with Desdemona Enfield and March McBain, called “Ripple.”

I wore Indyra Seigo’s gorgeous dress, which is being offered as her RFL donation at the RFL Fashion Fest. I can’t speak enough about the elegance and sultriness of this dress, from the beautiful rendered platinum textures to the perfectly placed gems. With its mix of exoticism and sensuality, it’s one of the most beautiful and unique offerings at the RFL Fashion Fest. (And I will note this gown is transferable, so you may easily gift it to your lady friend.)

I donned Tuli Asturias’ new offering at the Dressing Room, this sexy version of Gina. If you keep going back, you will probably accumulate an entire fat pack of Tuli’s beautiful skins at a great deal.

I shamelessly posed at the exhibit itself. I strongly encourage you to visit. Douglas’ video images and background combine with Desdemona’s incredible scripting abilities and beautiful sounds from March. Like DynaFleur and StormEye, the piece is based on interaction with avatars. So you have to be there to see it. Click on things, change the textures, make the walls flip.  Take a date and float to the bottom of the huge vase and there are poseballs for dancing. And drop a thanks to Tayzia Abattoir and Larry Pixel, whose NMC group is so generously hosting it.

There is nothing quite so beautiful as blue. OK, there’s green.. yes.. and red at certain times. And then there’s the beautiful white glitter of a diamond. But blue.. blue is the sea and the sky.

Near the Adriatic

This dress from Indyra Seigo, with its luscious pops of color, its graceful and sexy silhouette, and its casual richness makes wearing blue so easy. Indyra has mixed a simple black dress (worn sexily low cut) with a low-slung beaded belt and a ribboned hem. The dress is versatile yet unique—it reminds me of the hand crafted wealthy ladies like to wear when they want to look hippy chic. It’s not grungy or messy—it fits in all the right places.

I accessorized with Abraxxa Anatine’s absolutely gorgeous Karuka set. Abraxxa reaches farther and farther with each release, making the prims fit to her will with her beautiful textures and amazing aesthetic. Yes, I would gladly wear this necklace and bracelet in real life.

The shoes are from Onyx LeShelle, from the Maitreya Gold line. There is something so fantastic about the mix of materials and textures in these shoes—the feathers and leather and beads and snakeskin and metal. Onyx shows of her incredible building and texturing skills in these shoes (now you make a bead look that good—I dare ya). And the toes.. well.. they are to die for.
