I took a stroll in the snow after a party the other evening. I felt pretty and festive during this week between Christmas and New Year especially with my new coat from Ariadna Garrigus, which comes with a texture change HUD that includes several gorgeous looks. I opted for the safe red with black to match my pretty little shoes from Apple May, which are her exclusive at Shiny Shabby. The only downfall to these shoes? They only are available for Slink feet. I got a pretty neck bow from Jellyroll on MP to echo the whole black bow thing I have going on and have a spiffy handbag from Aikea Rieko for Shiny Shabby.

Marcopol Oh is offering this skin at Shiny Shabby for the LeLutka heads and I opted to wear it on the new Simone. It comes with several lipsticks and eyeshadows but I preferred to apply a shadow from Izzie Button. Dressy earrings from AvaGardner Kungler, also for Shiny Shabby, give some holiday kick to my outfit. And Mina Nakamura’s casual but sophisticated cut for Tres Beau gives a sort of casual touch to an otherwise sophisticated look.

Bringing Home the Tree–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 11

Loch Noble just reopened their sim and a fresh coat of snow has fallen with more coming down. It’s coated the whole beautiful village with a white blanket and made it perfectly charming and wintery. I took a late morning run over to check out the storefronts and get my tree. (OK, it’s the sim “tree on a car” but work with me here…) I felt very seasonal in Aryiana Novelli’s supposedly ugly sweater for Christmas on 34th Street, though I think it’s absolutely charming with the clever use of multiple translucent layers to make it look soft. Chantal Mynx’s cowl for FROST provides colorful warmth, as do Izzie Button’s tights for TLC. And they matched my boots from Hera Aviatik, which are also for FROST. Pretty earrings from AvaGardner Kungler for this month’s On9 (which I downsized quite a bit) and a berry cluster from Abraxxa Anatine make the whole look seasonal and pretty.

Thank goodness for Mavi Beck’s darling holiday poses for TLC because they worked great for this set of photos. I am wearing Sawsan Secretspy’s new skin for Winter Trend on the Catwa Jessica head and I added shadows from Alaska Metropolitan that she is offering at a rock bottom price at Anybody. I have fallen in love with Constance Daehlie’s eyes for Winter Trend (which you will see over and over for the next few weeks). She offers system and mesh eyes. And the final and most glorious part of my look is Queue Marlowe’s gift for the KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar for today—an amazing topknot that includes three different HUDs for your wearing pleasure.

Peanut Blossoms

“We wanted our Peanut Blossom Cookies recipe to have a smooth texture with a roasted flavor, so we used creamy peanut butter and replaced a portion of the flour with ground roasted peanuts.” ~ Cook’s Country

I have officially run out of titles and quotes today so you are being subjected to my topic of interest at the moment: Christmas cookies. Yes, I am starting now but this will be a banner year for cookie baking and I have made room in my freezer and purchased many pounds of butter and chocolate for the festivities. Then I give the cookies as gifts to teachers, relatives and friends here and afar. For example, Barely Texan nearly got down on his knobby knees earlier this year to beg me to send him a batch again. And Callie hinted around several times. For the Celebrity Auction for MadPea, benefitting Live & Learn in Kenya, I offered to send Christmas cookies as part of the prize, if the winner takes me up on it, he will receive a few of the said peanut blossoms as well several other cookies (which will title blogs in the future).

I also want to point out that this blog has been nominated as “Favorite Fashion Blog” in the Avi-Choice awards, which is quite an honor to me and my fellow bloggers who sometimes contribute to this blog. There are SO MANY fashion blogs for SL, so this is truly an honor, especially to be in a group of such distinguished bloggers. That being said, a quick trip to the grocery store to get hazelnuts, raspberry jam, dulce de leche, and several pounds of chocolate was in order, so I put on this hot little dress from Spooky Mistwallow (that includes a great texture change HUD with ten choices), struggled into tights from Alaska Metropolitan, threw on my scarf from Izzie Button from Gen Neutral, and grabbed my purse from Snow Martiel and ran out the door in my highly practical and sexy high heeled boots from Senzati0n Domenitzo. Yes, I always dress like this when I go cookie ingredient shopping—don’t you?

Umazuma Metaluma is offering a seasonal blush for cheeks and nose at Tres Chic, so I employed the blush layer over Nicole Button’s latest conversion to the Catwa head. I also used Nicole’s great eye makeups though I struggled with the lipsticks—they just didn’t conform to the lips the way I had hoped, even when I dialed them down. I also had to keep reapplying the blush as the lips overrode that. Not sure if it was a problem with the head’s HUD, the head or the makeup HUD.

Last, I want to give a big plus to the hair I am wearing which includes ANIMATION just like my face. Other people have tried this in the past but Thora Charron has finally made it work with mesh that seems to move in the breeze. I tried to capture an animation (and will attempt again on a future blog), but the side tendrils and the ponytail sway as if a gentle breeze is blowing on me. It’s pretty fabulous!

The Waiting

The lover who waits. She bathes, dresses, and listens to the soft music, expecting her lover. Her chosen lingerie is, of course, from Mariska Simons, the queen of lingerie in SL, who is now converting some of her older pieces and making all of her new pieces with appliers. This outfit, which includes appliers for every body you can imagine as well as Omega, is a case in point of sexiness combined with new technology. Paired with Darling Monday’s shoes for the Mix Event, it’s a bold but sexy look. Lounging on Cory Edo’s modernist furniture for Uber makes the wait more comfortable.

Her skin is a combo of Aleida Rhode’s newest skin available at her mainstore with appliers for everything but the kitchen sink with eyeshadows from Izzie Button and lipstick from Carrie Janick. I am kind of digging the ability to mix things up this way on the LeLutka mesh heads, though I will say it was a bigger challenge finding eyeshadows I liked. I loved these dark eyes from Eleri Catlyn for my waiting woman. I wish more creators made darker, rather than lighter, eyes. Thora Charron’s long wavy sexy new hair in a bold color is the crowning touch.

Spring Madness

I was looking over the photos on Flickr of SL and my own and decided it was time for a little more color and saturation.  I am tired of the haze, the mood lighting, the desaturated tones. It’s Spring! Time for a little madness! I started out with the new vest/hoodie/shirt combo from Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus, which is chock full of so much choice and goodness, I didn’t know where to start first. Their great HUD allows choice of leather shade, metal tone, hoodie look (with Paul’s great prints or solid), hoodie liner (!), and t-shirt color. And the hoodie is an add-on so if you just want a t-shirt with vest or vest alone, you’re in business.

I matched them up with the shortest short shorts from Moonbubble Gothly, also with a wholly choice-filled texture-change HUD and Maxi Gossamer’s feathered necklace for Uber, also chock full of choices on her menu. Socks appliers in over 20 shades from Izzie Button and OMG boots (OMG being used as an adjective here) from Bax Coen with a texture-change choice for shade and accent. (I was clicking for a good hour trying to find a look that was as bold and sexy as I could make for a sunny Spring day between all the items.)

Thank goodness all I had to do was put on Umazuma Metaluna’s gorgeous skin for Skin Fair that she now has in her store. With the pink blush, the rich skin tone, and the gorgeous sultry features, it was just perfect, no clicking involved (except for the appliers). Ms. Bubbles Clawtooth has this sexy sensuous hair out at Fameshed this round and I put on her “Daring” color set because, well, what’s Spring without a little exuberance?

Geek Chic—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 18

I’m a nerd. I admit. I am a nerd about SL. I passionately love SL. I love my friends. I am an “enthusiast.” The way I see it, some people geek out about knitting, some geek out about model airplanes, some geek out about the Raiders. Me? I geek about SL. There’s nothing like meeting an SL friend in RL and suddenly conversation turns to Burning Life or Maitreya shoes or gestures or why you can’t teleport instead of taking the stairs. (All such conversations happened this weekend when Eshi and I had drinks with an SL friend who was in from out-of-town.)

Eku Zhong makes some of the coolest stuff including shoes for KoiKoi and furniture and structures and other whacko stuff for Culprit. She made this silly sign for the KittyCatS Advent Calendar and it’s honestly a perfect piece for most of us SL nerds. I couldn’t resist wearing this awesome sweater from Dawn Brunswick that she is selling at Frost. It comes with six equally uh… “interesting” textures including one with big furry kittens. My boots are Tatyana Ultsch’s super fly boots for Frost, which include a HUD that allows the addition of a strap and other decorative features.

I put on Truth Hawks’ great long ponytails with bangs. They really aren’t that nerdy but I needed something whimsical and this fit the bill.  I love Jade Glazner’s skins because of the clean palette they give for wearing makeups. I wore her cateye liner so my eyes could be seen better behind these great nerdy glasses from Laika Saintlouis—cuz even a nerd can be cute!

River—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 9

Beloved Ruby sent over her KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar gifts—two gorgeous women’s winter coats and a men’s outfit with striped sweater—and Z said, “So let’s go skating!”

We had a wonderful time at the gorgeous frozen river/lake at Angel Manor. I was able to set the windlight to a late Sunday afternoon winter light straight out of my real life, so the skating seemed brisk and fun. We took a ton of photos between us. I treated a few of them in PS, which is not my usual, but they seemed so nostalgic.

I loved the gifts Beloved Ruby has made for the calendar, all of them lovely and truly generous and I had a great time finding the scarf from xxRyvenxx, the mittens from Izzie Button, and the tights from Bax Coen to dress the look up. Z had a fine time dressing his up for skating and both of us did tricks with our AOs all over the pond. Kaya Angel has outdone himself on this gorgeous build. It’s straight out of my own winter.

Shylah Honey has made this darling hair for the Winter Trend and it includes a HUD for changing the color of the headband as well as for the hair itself. The curls framing my face were ideal for this almost old-fashioned look. My skin was one of Rocketta Haven’s I got during the Skin Addiction Black Friday sales, a luscious-lipped, blushed pale skin that offset well with all the red I was wearing.

The New York Times has a brilliant haiku generator on their site (http://haiku.nytimes.com/) that pulls lines from their stories and makes haiku from them. I grabbed the lead haiku from it.

I thought it suited this sophisticated look from GraceHaddington, a mesh pantsuit with an open cut back. Grace buys up mesh templates and sprinkles them with gorgeous textures, great styling and her own magic fairy dust (including a great texture-change HUD), and supports a large business with several other junior designers. Her prices are always reasonable and her output prolific. You can walk in any day of the week and find scads of new fashions, priced inexpensively.

I wore with this a new jewelry set made by Zuri Lyric in collaboration with Poulet Koenkamp. With a gorgeous set of bejeweled pearls that drops down the back and matching bracelet and earrings, the pieces come with Zuri’s texture-change scripts and are pure luxe.

I wore a super-sophisticated and sexy skin from Sawsan Secretspy that she recently had at Boho Culture but now in her store. I added the FREE lipstick Zxxrysa Magic is offering for the Dirty Turkey Hunt at her store. My short hair do is a new one from Chiaki Xue, who still makes short sassy cuts fashionable.

This morning I woke to perfect sunshine, lovely warm air that wasn’t too humid, a dozen peaches, and the anticipation of my little cousin (she’s 12) coming to visit. I made a peach cobbler (gah, the putzing with the peaches!) and frozen yogurt (awesome) and we had burgers for lunch. Then I took my cousin and son to the pool in this brilliant weather and cleaned the kitchen. It was just a lovely day, full of sunshine and the contentedness of small joys.

So I didn’t feel a need to dress up in any manner more than something pretty. I started with this loose dress from AvaGardner Kungler, who is a pro at textures, colors and proportions. Ava always brings elegance to her fashions, even the most casual, and this outfit feels rich even if it’s not “dressy.” I paired it with lace leggings from Tatyana Ultsch, who is also a pro at textures. These leggings will work with asses and mesh bodies but also come as pure system pieces with add-ons, which I prefer. My shoes are darling wedges that Senzati0n Domenitzo is offering in a gacha at the Aloha Fair.

Sawsan Secretspy, who is one of the most prolific skin makers in SL, I swear, is offering this gorgeous skin for the Aloha Fair. In several bright, sunshiny make-ups, it’s sure to add warmth to your look. My hair is one of Queue Marlowe’s newest, loose curls casually pinned up in back with her ever gorgeous textures. Manic moves and drowsy dreams

Once in a while I have a guest blogger. I have had Asima Saad on the blog before and she wanted to cook up another look and blog entry, which I gladly accepted. Asima does a lot of RP and loves writing and dressing up. Hope you enjoy her look and story as much as I did.

Leah glanced upward at the clock on the wall and cracked her gum.

The rink was empty, and even the weirdos had called it a night. She shut off the lights to the popcorn machines, and soda fountains, then ran her fingertips along the long red countertop. Some guy had scraped into the red pressboard ‘SLAYER’ with something sharp and her nails glided easily across the deep grooves.

She wiggled her toes in one of the neon high-top sneaker as the music from the sound system wound its way through the vacant rink. She closed her eyes.

Synthesizers and drums created a sonic surf that she could swim in. And she lost herself in the rolling tides of the epic tune.

When the sound started to fade, headlights cut their way through the glass of the doorway, and she dropped down, snagging a cluster of keys on her dash to catch her ride home.
