Valentine’s Day is coming up so a long of roses are going to be gifted through Marketplace in the next couple weeks.I am wearing an outfit from Ariadna Garrigus that’s a taste of sexy for strolling the grid. With mesh jeans, a draped silky tank and a nicely shaped jacket on top, it’s a great look for going out or shopping. I wore Senzati0n Domenitzo’s boots for Shiny Shabby with it and Maxi Gossamer’s new heart-filled pearl choker for Fameshed. It has color change for both black and white.

Not everyone on the grid is sold on mesh heads yet, and this skin is a beautiful look for a Valentine. This time she has blond brows, so I am able to wear one of Queue Marlowe’s gorgeous new lush looks with abundant curls.

I am an introvert. I like my alone time a lot. I like quiet. So a walk in the woods is a good thing, and dressed as a woman warrior, I can let my inner fierce out. I dressed this way because two elements I wanted to show: first, these great mesh gladiator sandals with knee pads from Erratic Rain, which she is featuring at Uber. Available in several colors, the sandals are great for any kind of RL or a sexy summer look. My outfit is one of ValentinaEvangelista’s great mesh pieces. She makes her own mesh, and it’s not easy rigging clothes to fit well and also doing the fantastic textures she makes. If you want original mesh, that’s the place to go.

The other reason I did this look was to show off Shylah Honey’s hair for We Love Roleplay. Shylah (and her husband Tommy Fairplay) also do all original mesh pieces. This side-swept ‘do comes in 20 shades on their texture-change HUD and includes the feathers on the side, perfect for RP. My skin is Sawsan Secretspy’s exclusive for 24 Squared. Soon the butterflies will be out, flitting around flowers, spreading joy. I can’t wait. In the meantime, I can fill my home with colors and butterflies, specifically this furniture Kaerri Rae is selling at the EB Awareness Event with part of the proceeds going to Debra of America for research into Epidermolysis Bullosa. I wrote about the disease and a classmate who had it yesterday, but as I was listening to this song by Mariah Carey, I was thinking about the bravery of the parents of such children. The song talks about letting some you love spread their wings and fly and for a parent of a child who is so easily injured, what a leap of faith to let their butterfly out into the dangerous world. That’s why support of the patients of EB is so important. It would be wonderful to see these Butterfly Children fly.

I wear Ivy Burner’s darling sun dress for the Monochromatic Fair. This is a kind of essential party piece in my mind—perfect for casual dances, beach parties or shopping. The flowered texture is almost retro and the lined hem and belt makes the dress pop. My shoes from Pill Kanto are his interpretation of pumps with a open sole, which he is selling at L’accessoires. (Shouldn’t it be “Les accessoires”? I keep getting tripped up by this.)

My fresh and beautiful skin from Sawsan Secretspy was a natural for this look. The pale red lips, the gorgeously lined eyes with a touch of yellow give my red dress a bit of glamour and a little retro touch. With Circe Ishtari’s newest hair, a combo updo ponytail with click-to-tint color menu, this pretty red ensemble compliments the butterfly décor.

I never used to enjoy walking. I always felt I needed to be going somewhere to make it worth my while but now I realize it’s the journey that makes walking so much better than driving or even biking. I can see into shop windows, notice the flowers (if they ever return), smile at people, enjoy the fresh air.

I put together an outfit of different pieces to make my walking fashionable. First is the two piece jacket and shirt from Cecilina, which she is selling at The Chapter Four. Part of the 2-for-1 group, you get the under piece and this jacket. Presumably you can wear the jacket without the under shirt but I like them together. I wear them over leggings from Moonbubble Gothly, who includes a HUD of darling textures for changing things out (as seen above). One pair of pants can be worn SO many times. My messenger bag is from Superjaix in the gachas at The Chapter Four. Made for male avatars, I still managed to make it look good with my girl. And I built my whole look around Cyclic Gear’s darling loafers with contrasting bows. They come in several combinations and she has made them to fit the Slink flat foot or Toddleroos.

My skin is one of the fresh and lovely skins Umazuma Metaluna is offering at The Chapter Four in a gacha. I have looked at all of them and they are all worth the extra cha-ching, especially this rare with its delicate freckles and cat-eye liner. MissAllSunday Lemon has this new hair out at FaMESHed, and it’s definitely worth a look-see because of its versatile styling and as usual, her great textures.

*** I need to make one big important plug! You NEED to walk to the Basilique Playhouse to see Paradise Lost. As you know, I have blogged it but really, truly, it’s a must-see in SL if you see anything. Tickets have gone on sale. (Don’t worry—I made sure to get mine already so you can’t snatch my opening day seats.) I am so stinkin’ excited to see this and I am a jaded SLer. Get your tickets on Marketplace for 1000L or 1500L at the door. Half of all ticket sales will be donated to the WWF Adopt-A-Gorilla Program for Ihoho, the mountain gorilla (who is should be made into a gacha toy, he’s so cute).

My quote is sent out to a friend who has received some bad news, and I want to give him some encouragement. It feels like there is a lot of bad news we receive from friends in SL but the truth is that if we appreciated what we have more, we would *hear* the good news too. The other night a friend who has not been on SL for a while logged on and had the BEST news for me. He had met a beautiful woman in RL and they had gotten married. He spammed me with wedding photos and gosh he was right—she IS beautiful.

None of that is pertinent to this look except the cheer I wish to evoke with the look. Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus have come out with a new leather jacket that can have the tank top or not. Both have color-change HUDs and of course, the colors are coordinated with their other pieces, so I wore their more recent skirt release with its absolutely fabulous tushie. (Paul, please consult the mesh ass people and show them how to do it?) The textures are typical L&B—lush, nuanced, perfectly shadowed and tangible. I want to run my hands all over myself just looking at this jacket. And the snakeskin top is amazing. Add great capris from Ivy Burner (who is also a mistress of texture), gorgeous jewelry from Maxi Gossamer, and funky stilettos from NikkiIrene and I have a great look!

I couldn’t help but put on Queue Marlowe’s whimsical hair from Collabor88. As a friend said, How does it do that? Queue won’t do something unless it’s fun and doesn’t let a bad day EVER get her down, which is why it’s always good to have her around, even if it’s in her hair. My skin is Peachiemuah’s newest doll skin with dimples, soft features and pretty eyes. A touch of lipstick from Mocksoup Graves brightens the natural-toned face. Peachiemuah’s skins come with appliers, so you can wear your Slink hands and feet as I did.

So too much of a good thing can be a good thing when it’s cantaloupe or spring weather or Sunday afternoon naps. The Girl Scout cookies we just got, on the other hand…. You can never have too much good fashion, however, and LivGlam and K Collection has a way of giving us a lot of a good thing but it’s never enough. Enchantment, which is opening on February 1, will be an event taking as its theme “Little Red Riding Hood.” You’d think it would be an event full of baskets and capes, and while there are plenty of those, there is also an undercurrent of resistance to a story of a lovely little girl being tricked by a wolf. First, much of the clothing is less for a little girl and more for a woman, like this gorgeous gown by Monica Outlander. Now, I am not surprised Monica upends the tale of a sweet little girl by turning her into a sophisticated vamp—Monica is never satisfied with the status quo. Her gorgeous Blanchette gown evokes the sleek beauty of its namesake, Cate Blanchett. Monica imbues Little Red Riding Hood with something else with this hooded gown.

Amanda Randall imagines the wolf less as a threat than an accessory with her posing wolf at Enchantment. With six darling poses, you can go from long lean model to besties with the wolf. Maybe “my such big eyes you have” could become friendship or true love….

Then you have Isabeau Baragula’s evocative accessories—bowed Mary Janes and w wearable wolf mask that goes over the face or on top of the head. Is LRRH the victim or the sheep hiding in wolf’s clothing? I love how the headpiece looks as a sort of perverse tiara. Isabeau also sells a horned chair with several great poses, the bowed branch draped with silk (color-change, of course) and a mounted wolf’s head. I think the wolf is in big trouble in Isabeau’s version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Finally, Nina Helix made an exclusive skin for this event—a vamped up Red Riding Hood, and it comes with all the appliers you could need. With dark eyes and a deep deep red matte lip, heavy brows and a very romantic face, this is not your traditional skin. When I first put it on, I had to get used to it but once I paired it with Keiba’s dark eyes, I was enchanted, especially with one of Truth Hawk’s newest hairs in black. Watch out, Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood is out to get you!

Heard this on KCRW this morning and thought it was a great reminder cased in a beautiful song and luscious voice. And I felt love, true love, when Zaara Kohime came out with this dress today. In this dress you see great design and beauty combined. First start with the colors and texture—rich, textured, glorious. I can feel a million little silkworms working their magic to make the fine threads that were woven. I can feel the weight and quality of this fabric and the labor of the finest Indian artisans who wove it. I can detect the scent of the dressmaker’s perfume, the designer’s first sketch leading to this gorgeous piece. Wear it with materials turned on and you just go, “Wow!”

Lest you think I am waxing poetic over nothing here, let me point out the design. Zaara did her own mesh and did it wonderfully. She has cleverly made the silhouette of a lady with a perfect peek-a-boo at the calf, a nice simple wraparound at the bust and a form-fitting mesh that moves gracefully with the avatar. Combining the perfect alpha with great rigging is the secret here. There is no bump in the hip as it transitions from waist to hip (which I see a lot in mesh dresses) or a weirdly shaped rear-end. She even gets the transition of the fabric as is wraps around built into the mesh. I feel as exhilarated wearing this as I do driving my friend’s Audi—fine engineering and beauty give me chills.

This is why I had to style this dress with Truth Hawk’s newest hair, also a piece of beauty and fine engineering. He has finally got his HUD, his vendors, his textures down pat. Now he can send out pretty things for us to enjoy. I really have to hand it to Truth—he has never sat back on his success and let himself become obsolete as a result. H’es always seeking ways to make things better for his customers.

With several brow options, cleavage, eye makeups and lipsticks all in one pack, it’s a bargain and perfect for this elegant look. Momentary Bliss

I woke up this morning to fresh snow and bright sunshine, and I made muffins, ate a bowl of perfectly sweet cantaloupe, found a most beautiful piece of music from the KCRW song of the day in my podcasts, a chat with a dear new friend, and received a lovely skin to blog. What more bliss can one have?

I ran off to Leroy to take photos of this beautiful mesh dress by Cocoro Lemon, which she is featuring at the Season’s Story. I tried for white but the vendors were not working well that evening, and I ended up with beige, and with this look, it’s about as aetherial as mesh can get. I decided to keep my accessories to a minimum—a flower ring in my hair from Wisp Jinn and anklet from Caelan Hancroft.

I have to admit one good reason for my bliss was this new skin from Umazuma Petaluna. The face is sublime with depth and a natural beauty which appealed to my mood today. Uma has clearly put a lot of work into this skin, from the beautifully drawn brows to the expressive eyes to the smattering of freckles and gentle blush and the full bee-stung lips. She includes appliers for hands and feet (which is why I could wear my Slink hands and feet and run through the grass barefoot), breasts and butt.

I am wearing Queue Marlowe’s newest hair, which falls on my shoulders in gentle waves and looks beautifully natural with its deep textures and attractive silhouette. Deep eyes from Keiba finish this gorgeous look.
