Gypsy Soul

Shiny Shabby’s next round opens today and it’s, as you can see, chock full of Boho goodness. If you are a fan of a gypsy soul, then you will score at this event as I did. First you have the wonderfully textured and meshed jacket from Rucy Byron, a piece that comes in several neutral tones that all look like fine suede so you can mix it with other pieces. It also includes an undershirt, but I chose to go with a tank from LacunaInc, carefully fitting it under the jacket and over my mesh body (which is mostly alpha’d out—go figure). I matched it to one of Sissy Pessoa’s fabulous maxi skirts, the entire set in many colors but also with great leathery/suede textures and a lace inset. I matched up the look with a handbag from the UnitedColorsTeam which is rigged mesh, so grab a demo before buying to see if it fits you as you like. I accessorized with a great necklace from Maxi Gossamer for Fameshed.

 

Skin Fair is still going strong, and Inka Mexicola is one of the sponsors of the Fair, so it’s a double treat because you get several of Inka’s newest skins exclusively. I like Inka’s line because she includes appliers for everything, including the Belleza mesh body, which many creators have forgone because of the different UV maps on the hands and feet. Inka, with true skill, managed to create the applier for this body as well as others like the Maitreya, and she includes a great choice of brows and a set of beautiful lipsticks.

Mina Nakamura is also participating in Shiny Shabby this round with a great hair with a bandana that also includes your choice of textures on her handy HUD. And I had to show Kunst Himmel’s rugs again because I am totally hooked on them (no pun intended). Rugs always seem to be my final choice to pull an interior look all together, and I will be using this set of rugs over and over in my decorating. It’s worth a few pulls of the gacha!

Queen of Love

Today is a big deal. This is my 1500th blog post. Yep. 1500! With each post at approximately 400 words, that’s 600000 words or 2400 pages of writing. (If I were writing a paper, which I am not.) With approximately 4 images per post, that’s 6000 images (though my Flickr says 7861). With about 8 slurls per post, that’s 12000 slurs. And my traffic is almost at 1 million. (Yeah, a pittance in the grand scheme of the internet but still astounding to me.)

That’s why Callie got me this crown. And then she rezzed the new KittyCatS collections. Up top in my teaser you see the KittyCatS! 4th Birthday Collectible CatS. One is given out for free when you click the birthday cake at their sim and the other you get when you hunt for it. The two can be bred to make a special kitten, specific only to these two and both KittyCatS are free.

The two special Valentine’s collections are the Forget Me NotS and the CupidCatS. Obviously, you can tell which is which, and I love the Forget Me NotS because they have that old fashioned Victorian style. Barnesworth Anubis made the pedestals for the CupidCatS!

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I donned a bra and panty set that LacunaInc has made in red with all the appliers you might need. I am lounging on a special Valentine’s pillow from Cherelle Capra that she is offering at the Color Me Project (where everything is.. well, red.. go figure). And I love Glamistry’s new shoes with color change everything in a funky, stylish design.

Maxi Gossamer made this lovely locket that is full of a woman’s heart’s delight for Love is in the Air, hung on a beaded chain. And Sawsan Secretspy, the skin maker who never sleeps, has this gorgeous lush skin at the With Love Fair. Umazuma Metaluna is coming out with a new set of eyes for the Cosmetic Fair, and I donned a pair of the sparklers for this look. Finally, I love how Mina Nakamura’s sleek long hair curls around my shoulders, framing my face and making me look like a queen.

A Doll’s Life

Tatyana Ultsch is participating in Burlesque this month, and I thought I would dress up to match her great corseted dress. First the dress, which is a great mesh style that she has made with varying proportions for bigger booties and boobs and smaller ones. I matched it up with stockings from LacunaInc. These were made for the PhatAzz but I slipped the script out and put it in an Omega converter so I could wear them on the Belleza mesh body. I hunted around and found these great Victorian boots from Jackal Ennui, testament that an SL old timer can go with the times and do mesh well. My gloves from Fyre Furse and Sugar Falta I tripped on in MP and laced on to dress up my look. And my pretty necklace is Maxi Gossamer’s contribution for FaMESHed.

I am wearing Umazuma Metaluna’s skin for the Season’s Story, a beautiful look that comes with dark and light brows, a smoked eye tattoo option as well as blush and beauty marks and her great lip intensity system, for which I custom-colored my lips. (I love that option—any lipstick I want!) This time I used her applier on the Belleza body because I was having a problem with the Maitreya body in advanced lighting. The transition seems a lot better on the Belleza body for this applier.

Bubbles Clawtooth, that darling of fabulosity, has put this gorgeous loose hair out for Collabor88. With a separate HUD to switch up the color of the bow in back, it’s a versatile hair for many kind of looks, especially this pretty dolly look.

Some Sundays I just don’t want to get dressed. I want to laze around in my underwear on a comfy chair and not worry. Of course, in fantasy fashionistaland, that means I will look absolutely gorgeous doing so in this beautiful lingerie from LacunaInc, which comes with a ton of appliers so I can slip these pretties on to my Belleza Mesh body and roll around in a soft chair like this one, made by Whimsy Winx and Sasy Scarborough (the dynamic duo) with sexy, languid poses. Truth Hawks just came out with these darling curly ponytails, which I colored in this awesome light blue to show off the great curls and texture. I am still beguiled by the skin that Mochi Milena has made for androgynous looks. As a woman’s skin, it’s lovely and provides a beautiful palette for makeup, so I chose a liner from Constance Daehlie and lips from Zxxrysa Magic, which I have been wearing like mad it seems lately. A Little Nonsense

Check this out! I hit the motherlode! The folks at MadPea made a darling collection of gacha items for the Arcade this month, and I lined them all up (after I played with each one, of course). Each one is interactive in its own special way, from the goofy Sticky Finger I wore on my finger and flung around to the barking doggy that I had to turn off because it drove me nuts to the musical guitar you can wear and play like you did when you were 5 and your dad hoped he was raising another Eric Clapton to the ultra rare robot. These fun pieces can be won and traded or given away or you can use one in your own special photo for the MadPea Rewind & Play Photo Contest. My Attic opened again and this darling dress from LacunaInc is one of the great fashions being offered there. The dress is a great little mini for the coming fall with a nice cowl neck and a short skirt. The textures are rich and the silhouette is sexy. I matched up Kenadeecole’s strappy wedges from No21, which she has made for both Slink and Belleza feet. They also have a HUD for choosing metal colors and an optional translucent cuff around the ankle.

That being said, I am again wearing the Venus mesh body from Tricky Boucher. I want to reinterate that it’s easy to wear mesh clothing with this shape by using the alpha area of the HUD and editing your shape. It works brilliantly and look how great my legs look! And I don’t have to shuffle hands around. I am so relieved to not have to deal with that.

My skin is Shyla Diggs’ newest and wow, I am impressed. As always, Shyla doesn’t fail to impress with beautifully shaped brows, gorgeous eye makeups, muted and lush lips, a darling nose. With or without the mesh body, this is a skin worth having.

Elikapeka Tiramisu has been rather quiet, pursuing her first life I presume, but she does have a store with some gorgeous mesh hairs with her lovely textures. Elika was one of the first in SL, kids. And she still can pull it off. This hair comes with a great texture-change HUD and, as you can see, some sleek styling.

The Dog Days

Woot!

It’s the dog days of summer, though I am enjoying lovely sunny weather and cool breezes. I dressed up accordingly with a cheerful mien so I could face these dog days with happiness. And what a lot of happiness the grid is offering right now. First start with the new hair from Truth that he is offering at Uber. In two different face-framing styles, the hair includes a darling color change hair band with a series of great textures. My skin is Sawsan Secretspy’s lovely work for Designer Showcase, a clean palette for your choice of makeups, and I chose lipstick from Constance Daehlie.

My beautifully designed top is one of Erratic Rain’s pieces for Uber. She designed the mesh top to bottom for both this and the shorts she is selling and the textures are gorgeous. I found a pretty little necklace from Menieelee Gelles at the Chapter Four to match and a skirt from nodoka Vella. Pretty new peeptoes from LacunaInc make the look complete.

Oh.. and my dawgs. Nina Helix is offering another gacha full of ferocious pups and Apple Fall was selling this ceramic pug that I have repurposed, both at Chapter Four.

I am not covering my ears here because I want you to tell me something good. I will tell YOU something good. LacunaInc have put out these absolutely drop dead sexy separates at My Attic this month, and wow. I love how LacunaInc uses bold graphics to get her point across, combining them with great easy silhouettes. She cleverly sells these separately, so if you want to mix and match with other pieces or change up the colors, you can.

My shoes are also something good I can tell you about though considering how late I am blogging this, you might get mad at me. They are one of the two pairs Eku Zhong is featuring for the 21 Shoe this month. (I really hate this one-day-only sale thing but what are you gonna do? Call it 21 and 22 Shoe? Hm….) You have to drop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and run to her store to get the shoes if it’s still the 21st. They are sexy, fashionable and gorgeous.

My hair is Kattington’s newest for Kustom 9, a great poofy rockabilly-inspired updo with shaved sides. I chose to wear a hairbase from Maddox DuPont and eyeliner from Shyla Diggs to lend a little more edginess to the look. Big bold earrings with texture change from Ryca Doobie (the biggest in big earrings in SL) and of course, Aida Ewing’s bright red lips on her skin for Collabor88. Hope I told you something good. For the past few weeks the only TV show we have talked about in our house is Cosmos, the remake of the Carl Sagan show from my childhood. Neil deGrasse Tyson hosts this version, and it’s a restating of what Carl Sagan revealed to us many years ago with some added information and a strong argument for science and the belief in objectivity and Truth.

To say that it has great cultural impact right at this moment would be stretching it. Not enough people watch it, and that’s truly a shame, because the rhetorical and metaphorical means by which very complex and amazing truths are shared is astonishing and beautiful. It pulls us back from the nihilistic postmodern navel-gazing that has been going on for so long in academics to a beautiful world of absolutely concrete proof, logic, and deep wonder. The argument for evolution alone is so deft and tight, it makes me cheer. I do think that in the long run it will have a profound impact, however.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Neil deGrasse Tyson is sexy as hell, and he has the intellectual cojones to back up his narrative. He’s taking us on a star ride for which he knows every single millimeter. I have had the guy on my personal radar for some time, and all I can say is he is the real deal and gosh, there is almost nothing hotter than a physicist.

I put on this dress from Aikea Reiko, one of the many gorgeous patterns on this set of mini dresses, and I was starstruck immediately. With a hand-drawn belt that binds the dress, it’s a simple outfit that allows for many ways to accessorize. I am going to reframe the winter. I will see the cold air as “fresh” air. After all, the sun is out, the snow has stopped falling. Put on a warm coat and boots and take a walk. In this warm coat with lace hem from Circe Ishtari, it can be a fresh day and cute too. Circe is presenting this darling coat for the Style Icon.
