Spring is here! Get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air, the life all around you—live a little! I took a walk today at the MadPea Mainstore sim, a darling little town with a center square park that even includes a playground. Get a tattoo, fried chicken, a little local flavor—it’s a great urban space, which is hard to find in SL it seems. I wore a flirty little slip dress from Apple May that she is featuring at Shiny Shabby, a great fit on my Maitreya body. I paired Senzati0n Domenitzo’s gladiatorish sandals for Fameshed for a walk down the street—no heels for concrete. And a gorgeous necklace that AvaGardner Kungler came out with last month lies perfectly in the decolletage of the dress and I am wearing Mea Carnell’s bangle for Shiny Shabby to dress up the outfit and match my gold nails from Santana Lumiere.

I am wearing one of Lara Hurley’s beautiful appliers for the Logo mesh head, one that fits the head so beautifully and kind of hides that it is that particular head. I think the biggest problem people complain about the mesh heads is that they all “look alike,” but this applier shows that good artistry can make them quite unique. Paired with gorgeous eyes from Umazuma Metaluna and sexy wavy tossed hair from Mina Nakamura for Fameshed, and I am ready for the world, ready to live a little!

A Woman’s Sword

Who said women can’t be warriors? I suited up in Sands Leavitt’s gorgeous armor for We <3 RP and felt instantly fierce. In mesh with materials in the textures, the armor is not just protective—it’s gorgeous. Instead of using his mesh chain mail underneath, I found that Tatyana Ultsch’s awesome top applier from the Jack and Jill Hunt, served the purpose. Long tall boots from Bax Coen in fitmesh with a metallic sheen adds quite a bit of sexy. Regal (and totally unnecessary but important for the look) wings from DeathRowDesigns make me look even that bigger and fiercer.

Even sexier is Solange Cerveau’s thong. While normally I wouldn’t feature something so itsy bitsy as a piece itself, in this case I have to highlight Solange’s great work on something so seemingly insubstantial. She has made the thong fit the major bodies, and it fits to a tee, as you can see. It also comes with a texture-change HUD so you can wear it with several outfits. She includes a “modesty” piece, a sort of codpiece for ladies, that allows the thong to be worn under skintight skirts to cover your mesh girl parts (for all those underskirt cammers).

Shylah Honey made new hair for Fameshed that’s totally gorgeous with a great hairline and beautiful flowing locks. There are 2 million long hairs in SL (I might be exaggerating but not by much) but conquering that is another thing and Shylah has found a secret formula in this look. I am wearing Lara Hurley’s luscious skin on the Karin LeLutka mesh head and it’s absolutely stunning. Somehow Lara is able to work past the limitations of mesh heads to add a uniqueness to the look, imbuing them with beauty.

Future Tense

A lot of speculation happens in chat groups about who will be doing what and releasing, who is fixing and rereleasing, what LL is doing with SL. People are always anxious for the next thing, the upgrade, or they worrying about the changes and often complain about the now. My attitude is, I can’t do much about it. Best to enjoy what I have now—a great new skin, awesome sims to check out, no more hair up my butt when I tp, and 60 groups! (I need more!)

And today I have a future look, built around a few pieces that are being sold at Collabor88. First there is the great little bodysuit from erratic Rain, a mesh piece fit right to the Maitreya mesh body and available in several colors and translucencies. I love the see-through look and the fit. Then there are earrings from Zaara Kohime, fit to the standard avatar and a couple mesh heads so they can be rigged and move with the avatar body. With her always brilliant textures, they are a beautiful addition to this future look. I accessorized with a bracelet from AvengeStore that she is selling at OMGacha in several different colorways, ombre tights from BigBeautifulDoll, and hot little gogo boots from Maxi Gossamer.

Kavar Cleanslate is offering this funky wild ‘do at Collabor88 this month, and of course I could not resist going to one of his Wild Fusion textures to make my hair look awesome. Audrey Lamede is offering a set of great eyes at the The Men’s Dept this month so I ran over to get the fatpack. Doubtless I will be using them over and over. Lara Hurley has managed to transform the features of the Logo Alex mesh head in a way no one else has managed, reshaping the lips and the nose so they take on a new look altogether. I really love the features of the Logo Alex head like the expressions and now the Omega makeups but it’s very recognizable with some skins. This skin seems to breeze past that constraint. That’s skill! Lara includes some beautiful eye and lip makeups that apply separately (updated Omega). I am really loving this skin.

Oh Brother–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 16

It snowed last year too: I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea. ~ Dylan Thomas

This is my brother. Ok, in RL I don’t have a brother but in SL, I have someone who functions as one. Not in that sticky icky hearts and flowers in my profile way. More like that annoying IM me with foolishness and stupid names like “smeg” and “fart blossom.” The one who will trash me one minute and go after anyone who looks at me funny the next. There is, of course, constant bickering and arguments about who is to do what and when. Like shoveling.

Of course, my brother needs to be the one who has to go out to do the shoveling. It’s only fair. The pose set from Kay Weston for FROST is more ideally fitted to him (*cough* no one needs to tell him the shovel position can be modifed).  And of course I can sit by sipping my hot cocoa and watching and tell him where he’s missed a spot. It’s the natural order of things.

Of course, if he was a little misaimed in throwing the snow, it would hit me and get all over my new sweater, the gift Sanura Snowpaw made for the KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar for yesterday. It includes a texture change HUD so you can wear this snowflake in several colors. My tights are stocking appliers from Ashton Tryce at FROST. They are awesome snowflake tights for any holiday outfit. My little boots are one of Chantal Mynx’s creation for FROST. My brother is wearing a horrible Krampus sweater from Parallax and a matching hat that he got on MP. (Because, you know, no reason to be cute and festive. Always have to bring things down, right?)

My brother is wearing today’s KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar gift, a beard from ReishiProphet, available in two styles and several hair colors including a tintable beard. (I tried making it green but, yeah, don’t go there.) This is a tattoo layer and is a gift for MEN, who seem to get short shrift in the gift department in SL during the holidays. He is wearing it over the Emerson skin from ReishiProphet but it can be worn with any skin and look just as awesome.

I am sporting Lara Hurley’s lovely new skin with an included winter blush, which is just lovely. I love the brows, lips, eyes. Well I love it all and it’s fantastic on my system shape. Bubbles Clawtooth is featuring two hairs with texture-change hats at Collabor88 with winsome hair styles. Please note brother and sister have the same eyes from Constance Daehlile. We got them from our dad.

Spring Forward

We have already had the time change where I live and it’s been a great boon to my spirits. It’s great to have daylight last into the dinner hour again.

SarahTheRed Aurbierre is selling this fresh and lovely dress as a Fashion for Life exclusive in her store. Click on the vendor, buy it, and all proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society. I can’t help but gush over this dress, which is light in its texture and movement and provides a simple canvas for dressing up in many different ways.

Lara Hurley’s beautiful skin provides a richness to this look with its deep tone, smooth texture and nuanced highlights. Lara doesn’t overdo it, which makes this skin elegant and understated. Elikapeka Tiramisu’s ponytail with the face-framing short bangs, is a pretty top to this look.

The ultimate accessory are the shoes, of course, which can make or break you. Nardya Rousselot’s lovely new sandals (in gold!), complete this look stylishly.
