My friend Jaynine Scarborough is about to come out with an album that includes several gorgeous songs. Jaynine is a vocal teacher and performer in Berlin, who has, for years, also performed almost weekly in SL at her Thousand Rooms. If you have had the privilege of catching one of her weekly performances, you get to hear a beautiful woman’s voice, full of humor and earthiness and melody and sensuality. The song I link above is absolutely beautiful and the sentiment is perfect this season. Please click!!

I took a walk in a place called My Magic Winter to show off this darling coat from Larcoco Mathy for Shiny Shabby, which opens today. It includes a texture change HUD so you can switch up the sweater, buttons, and the detachable fur collar and cuffs. I wear it with Bax Coen’s newly redone knee-high boots, made specifically for different mesh bodies like the Maitreya Lara, the Bellezas and the Slinks.

Look closely and you can see today’s KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar gift, a pair of earrings custom-fashioned by RL jewelry artist, Bastchild Lotus. With a texture change HUD that allows variations on the metal, the charm and the beads, it’s a terrific gift! Look again and you can see around my neck the cute snowman Abraxxa Anatine has fashioned for the holiday with clickable texture change for the metal and scarf.

Umazuma Metaluna has made this gorgeous applier for the Catwa heads, which I am wearing on the Annie head. With several lip options, it’s a beautiful skin to match this head. (I am wearing it bare because I loved the look without lipstick for this outfit). Viking has made this great braid set for Hairology in several versions for most versatile wearing. With rigged and non rigged pieces, you can select the pieces that fit you best. Included is a great selection of hairbase HUDs for the Catwa head, Omega or TMP.

Oh Brother–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 16

This is my brother. Ok, in RL I don’t have a brother but in SL, I have someone who functions as one. Not in that sticky icky hearts and flowers in my profile way. More like that annoying IM me with foolishness and stupid names like “smeg” and “fart blossom.” The one who will trash me one minute and go after anyone who looks at me funny the next. There is, of course, constant bickering and arguments about who is to do what and when. Like shoveling.

Of course, my brother needs to be the one who has to go out to do the shoveling. It’s only fair. The pose set from Kay Weston for FROST is more ideally fitted to him (*cough* no one needs to tell him the shovel position can be modifed).  And of course I can sit by sipping my hot cocoa and watching and tell him where he’s missed a spot. It’s the natural order of things.

Of course, if he was a little misaimed in throwing the snow, it would hit me and get all over my new sweater, the gift Sanura Snowpaw made for the KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar for yesterday. It includes a texture change HUD so you can wear this snowflake in several colors. My tights are stocking appliers from Ashton Tryce at FROST. They are awesome snowflake tights for any holiday outfit. My little boots are one of Chantal Mynx’s creation for FROST. My brother is wearing a horrible Krampus sweater from Parallax and a matching hat that he got on MP. (Because, you know, no reason to be cute and festive. Always have to bring things down, right?)

My brother is wearing today’s KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar gift, a beard from ReishiProphet, available in two styles and several hair colors including a tintable beard. (I tried making it green but, yeah, don’t go there.) This is a tattoo layer and is a gift for MEN, who seem to get short shrift in the gift department in SL during the holidays. He is wearing it over the Emerson skin from ReishiProphet but it can be worn with any skin and look just as awesome.

I am sporting Lara Hurley’s lovely new skin with an included winter blush, which is just lovely. I love the brows, lips, eyes. Well I love it all and it’s fantastic on my system shape. Bubbles Clawtooth is featuring two hairs with texture-change hats at Collabor88 with winsome hair styles. Please note brother and sister have the same eyes from Constance Daehlile. We got them from our dad.

Mellow

The days are still golden this autumn. I was able to take time and toss out the flowers in the window boxes and trim the euonymus and then I sat down to listen to the radio for a bit, lounging on the sofa. In this case, the sofa is part of Alia Baroque’s featured set at ROMP this month, appropriately packed with poses for lounging and love making. I have decorated the family room with various pieces from Shiny Shabby—autumn and vintage pieces from Paolla Flux, pillows from Kunst and Hoorenbeek, chairs and tables from Soyoy, qu0op, and jammeh, and a charming piano from Marinestella. DanielEstro and Anaisterpellie have made the awesome ladder bookshelf for The Men’s Dept and Cherelle Capra has leant color to the room with her pieces for the Color Me Project. My radio is from the talented Lauren Bentham, who is offering prizes for the Peatonville Asylum game from MadPea, opening later this week (which I will write more about soon). And of course, this is all housed in Barnesworth Anubis’ lovely house for Collabor88.

Today I am casual in a baseball tee made for the season from Flutter Memel and Paul Lapointe and BastChild Lotus’ fantastic mesh jeans which have been refitted for the Maitreya body and also nicely fit my Belleza body with few adjustments. My skin is Shyla Diggs’ newest, a look that is fresh and comfortable on my own face, the most “me” look I can imagine, and my braid is MissAllSunday Lemon’s great fishtail braid for Fameshed.

The lyrics of this song translate to, “So much to do/ So much to do/ I´m willing and able/ No time to lose,” and I sure felt that way when a pal visited me this weekend. We raced around seeing things and eating and drinking like bacchanalians and we saw Gaby Moreno open for Calexico in a most awesome concert. I came back to gather up my messages and oops, Shiny Shabby had opened with a ton of great stuff.

Star with this fantastic long sweater with a low cut V-back from Kiddo Oh which is making the tour of all the great blogs (and mine). Available in four colors, with a simple knit texture and sexy silhouette, it will make your autumn evenings warm. Sawsan Secretspy has been making appliers like a mad woman lately, and this applier, available at Designer Circle, is a gorgeous look for the Ever mesh head from Lelutka (and probably for any of their mesh heads). With a dark liner, it looked great with Thora Charron’s lashes and I love Mina Nakamura’s new layered ‘do for Tres Chic and its beautiful textures.

If you use the Firestorm client, you would have to be blind not to see that it’s the fifth anniversary of the client, quite an auspicious occasion when Jessica Lyon spun the Phoenix viewer off from the original upstart Emerald viewer and then it morphed into the Firestorm viewer. Jessica has managed to imbue the project with kindness, helpfulness, and innovation with her calm and kind leadership.

Once again, the KittyCatS have made a commemorative kitten given out for free that has all the bells and whistles of the regulars ones, including breedability. Click this little darling and you can wear it on your shoulder, hold it in your arms, or cuddle with it. I ran down and picked one up, taking her along for the ride on my Haya 2015 from Turlaccor Mode. I had been noticing awesome photos by Darkley Aeon of these bikes on Flickr and so I got the chance to blog one myself (and will be showing more). Rideable and fun, the bikes also include many poses, effects and of course, exquisitely crafted details, as you can see here. Turlaccor is clearly a motorbike aficionado, with an eye for sexy speed. (All the poses you see me on the bike are unaltered poses included with the bike.)

Of course, I had to look the part and the first item that came to mind were Bax Coen’s smokin’ hot newly redone thigh high boots, which fit perfectly to the Maitreya mesh body. With materials, the metallic books in black are wickedly sexy, especially paired with mesh short shorts from Beanster Potato and a leather vest from Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus. Paul and Bast also offer a great motorcycle helmet with all sorts of texture options, which I donned as I took my kitten for a ride. (Safety first, right?) My skin is sawsan Secretspy’s newest for the Designer Showcase, a lovely sexy look that comes complete with all sorts of mesh body appliers.

Leather Power

My uniform is leather and my power is my age. ~ KISS

When I don leather, even in SL, I feel a sudden surge of power. Not sure what it is—wearing the skin of an animal, the smell, the squeak. Today I feel especially powerful as all the pieces I wear were made for the Maitreya Lara body and fit perfectly so I spent less time adjusting my shape and alphas and more time playing. Start with the corset top from Tatyana Ultsch, which comes with a texture-change HUD with an assortment of colors for the main leather (belts always black). Then add the harness mesh pants Paul Lapointe and BastChild Lotus just released, especially fitted to the body. With their elaborate HUD, you can change the color of the main leather, the color of the harness, and the metal. I clicked around to find a look I liked then put on Glamistry’s higher than high heeled pumps with their own brilliant clicky texture-change HUD. Accessories like the color from Sora Tatham at Shiny Shabby and Tatyana Ultsch’s cuffs complete this look.

I donned one of AtomicSparkle Skytower’s newer skins with brows and lips and used her body applier to fit everything together. With Audrey Lamede’s new eyes for The Men’s Dept, I think I made a pretty but intense look, which is what you want your best leather-wearing powerful woman to have. Jourdanmcmillan’s sexy side-swept hair, on which I applied an ombre texture, completes the look perfectly.

A punk look is what I needed to have today because of this new jacket from Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus, which includes a set of great designs for the back and of course, the add-on tank. The jacket has been made to fit the Maitreya mesh body as well as including all the standard sizes, and it’s rigged just perfectly to the body. I am wearing teeny tiny little shorts from Kinu Mayako that she is selling at the Thrift Shop for 50% off (as everything there is) and applied leggings from Tatyana Ultsch. Light blue boots from Moonbubble Gothly complete the look.

My skin is Umazuma Metaluna’s newest for Collabor88. All her skins for this round have parted lips, and I struggled with that. It’s very hard making the mouth look natural, in my opinion, and not making the avatar look like a mouth breather. I think, I hope, I managed to make the right tweaks to my face to make this skin attractive. My hair is Bubbles Clawtooth’s newest for Collabor88. I opted for the bright blue color to pop the look, and I fit Mayhem Seetan’s funky, jewel-encrusted headphones from On9 over the hair to just amp up this punk look with Maxi Gossamer’s almost vinyl platter necklace from Collabor88 as accessory. If you’re trying to get into Collabor88, give it a few days.

One more wonderful thing has come up: Thora Charron has made mesh lashes that fit both the LeLutka mesh heads and the system body. I have not tried them on the heads–in order to make lashes work on the heads with the competing makeups, some special things have to happen which I won’t explain here. However they look fabulous with a system head and fit me perfectly with very little editing. Your mileage may vary.

Barely’s always spinning what he calls “alt country” or what is now called “Americana,” and it’s quite come in vogue lately with some fabulous artists making music the way it’s supposed to be. I don’t think Barely brought Sturgill Simpson to me but he likes him as much as I do. I have been enjoying his album while doing this blog post and loved some of the lyrics, so that’s the title of the blog today.

Sometimes I think SL creations are a bit of everyone’s “little light within” given to all of us. Think about this once: where else in your life are you treated to so many people’s artistic and creative efforts, sold to you for so little to shape and light up your life? For example, this dress from Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus is so sexy and so well rigged and textured, but on top of that, engineered in collaboration between two people who live and love together. As I put it on, this collection of pixels, I marvel at its thoughtfulness and engineering, the sculptural qualities of the mesh, the proportions and “idea” of it, I think, well damn, can’t get that kind of experience for $2 anywhere else, right?

Then you have Maxi Gossamer’s mesh jewelry with her added touches of texture change and materials, the sexy boots engineered around the Belleza foot by Kenadeecole, and even the little dragonfly ring I got in a gacha from Piraiyah Novikov—each piece someone’s inner light shining.

Another miracle is how everyone’s light shines together. I am thinking of things like Sawsan Secretspy’s textures made into scripts for Tricky’s mesh body and Siddean Munro’s mesh feet and hands. And then Santana Lumiere’s nails applied to the hands and feet. And Queue Marlowe’s crazy waves fit to the body and gorgeous eyes from Nicole Button. I feel illuminated, lit within, by all the beauty and creativity this adds up to and absolutely amazed by how I can make this coherent “person” from such a melange of ideas and creations.

The Apoplectic Post Apocalypse

Genre’s theme this month is post apocalyptic, so I threw together a look from all the great stuff offered that is fierce and sexy, hoping I could share with you a little post apocalyptic style. Top to bottom, items that are from Genre: wild red hair from Cruella Pennell, who includes two different shaved heads that are tintable if you need to go wild. Then there is a “tiara” from Photos Nikolaidis that I tinted myself to match more with my outfit. A little necklace from Plurabelle Laszlo, a remake of a great bottlecap necklace she had done years ago (I know because it was my first happiness from Bliensen + Maitai). My bracer from Discovering Destiny includes vials of.. something and the ever-important key.

I rezzed the trailer from Jack Mondegreen and somehow my photo platform transformed itself into the Wastelands and bizarre characters of dubious provenance wandered across my scene. Soon I was engaging in chase scenes and various other feats of survival, using poses from Nancoix Urquan. Boots from Keishi Roo, of course, give me the edge and  the skirt from Spooky Mistwallow (yes, tough girls can wear skirts, especially when they wield a nail studded baseball bat from Draconias Timeless). All of the above is from Genre. Capture was in order with a great pose set from Kirsty Oherlihy (not available at Genre but essential to this narrative). I gave Z a run for his money!

I am wearing Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus’ new corset, which includes a great texture change HUD with a ton of color options for the leather and the metal studs. Clicking this look in took a bit of time because I had so many choices! Paul makes a variety of sizes of mesh to suit your body proportions. If you prefer to be a bit more busty, he gives you that option. Any piece from L&B is chock full of options and is made of 100% original and well-rigged mesh. I can’t speak highly enough of their work.

I want to point out I am wearing the mesh Venus body from Belleza. I have done a few things with it to complete my look. I clicked on the push up breasts to fill in that corset, and I reduced my shape size. I still can’t understand why folks resist messing around with their shape a little to get the look they want to achieve with their mesh body. This is the fitted mesh we all wanted for so long! Let’s use it! I reduced my breast size slightly to fit the higher boobs from the shape into this corset and voila!

Lazaretto

I love Jack White and I love his latest songs. The cutting edge of his song “Lazaretto” seemed to match this look, most of which I picked up at District 5. Start with a top from CrystalDoll Lemon from her fully-made mesh and textures. It’s sexy without being over the top (no pun intended) and suits the great plaid punk skirt Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus made exclusively for District 5. The skirt is, as usual, a Paul/Bast wonder with a incredibly versatile texture-change HUD that includes dozens of plaids, leather textures, and metals for mix and match infinitum.

I got my cuffs in Moonbubble Gothly’s gacha. I lucked out and got the color I wanted right off. (Sorry, you didn’t make money, Moonbubble.) My awesome and bright platform boots with studs all over (to keep the ankle biters away) are Mikhayla13’s can be found at District 5 as well.

My wicked skin is Lluna Nitely’s exclusive for District 5, a truly punk style with heavily lined eyes and glossy lips in several tones to match up with your outfits.
