What Doesn’t Show

I have to flash a photo of the HUDs piled up with windows on my screen, windlights set, inventory opened, and Callie and Aleida chatting with me. How does someone take a photo among all this?? Now you know some of what doesn’t show.

What does show is LeeZu Baxter succumbing to mesh bodies. Yes, folks, she has transferred some of her best system pieces, hand drawn, beautiful work, to mesh body appliers. I am so glad she did. LeeZu was always known for her gorgeous work, which was, before mesh came along, some of the most innovative and artistic on the grid. It was painful to have to pack it up when I decided to go all mesh body all the time. Now that’s not a problem. For example, I am wearing the incredible Monroe lingerie, a set I had long ago blogged on my system body in all its elegance and sexiness.

I thought the soft candlelight from Winter Thorn’s beautiful candle cages from her set at Collabor88 would lend some atmosphere. I applied Umazuma Metaluna’s gorgeous skin for the LeLutka mesh heads to another head in the set after my blog a week or so ago with the same skin was such a success. I think people are concerned they might all look alike with these mesh heads, and certainly with a certain male mesh head I see on the grid, that fear is justified, but with six heads already in the LeLutka collection, all modifiable by messing with head stretch and a plethora of skins already created to apply to these heads, I don’t think you need to worry about that. I applied the basic makeup to the eyes and Umazuma’s gift lipstick to create this look, after tweaking the blending and shimmer on the HUD. My super sexy hair is Bubbles Clawtooth’s beautiful offer for Kustom 9, a fitting style for this beautiful look.

Before the Party—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 14

Before any party in my house, there is a period of furious cleaning, pulling out the special dishes, setting the ambience. Since the holidays are coming up, I pulled out some accessories for creating the mood. Sway Dench’s fireplace for the Liaison Collaborative is a great centerpiece without flickering fire and Trace Osterham’s collection of bar tray and other party-related items (cleverly named “Eighteenth Amendment”) create a perfect party atmosphere.

Wintery house preparations mean a cozy sweater and tights, this the wonderful cabled turtleneck Missqwerty Pevensey is featuring for Frost with a great shape and wonderfully textured cables. Tights from Maya Levane warm the look up.

But the best part of the look are the other gift today in the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, these custom-made boots from LeeZu Baxter. Sawsan Secretspy has now released her golden skin tone for the Elsa line and it sure is gorgeous with a deeper tone for girls who want to shine. This set includes heavily lined eyes for a more seductive look. My casual updo with a bun at the nape of the neck is one of Mirja Mills newest and comes complete with her great texture-change HUD. And my gorgeous green eyes are from Constance Daehlie’s new set at Anypose.

I thought a song by St. Vincent was a perfect choice for a dress by LeeZu. Both throw together colors, patterns, ideas into a melange of perfect sound and thought. LeeZu’s latest mesh has ruching in the back and front and a little lace peekaboo slip at the hem. Other creators would make this a simple shape; LeeZu does more with it. Then she applies her amazing art, combing graphic color with actual feel-touch textures and detail.

I added one of Abraxxa Anatine’s jewelry sets for Mystic Realms Faire to the look. Obviously this is meant for some elven look but it works just as well with a regular outfit which bespeaks its stylishness and versatility. Nails from Cyclic Gears for My Slink Obsession give me a stylish orange metallic touch.

Gina Lurra has created a pair of mesh boots with a HUD that allows you to change everything except the color of your underwear—vamp, heel, sole, studs, zipper, etc. She includes rigged and unrigged versions (for those of you who can’t resist tinkering).

Queue Marlowe has come out with a new style that is out to there in curls and style. Once again, Queue blew corkscrews out of the water with this look. It is made of bouncy flexi prims with a color-change hairband. My skin is Aleida Rhode’s sensual coppery skin for the Body Modification Expo. With a beautifully shaded body and a lovely face, it’s a great offer at the Expo. I added a slick of gloss from Mocksoup Graves to soften the look.

Lauren Bacall recently passed away and I wanted to do a tribute look for her but who can possibly replicate such beauty? Only she could be herself, because it was her soul that gave light to her elegance. Her famous quote is a perfect sassy elegant rejoinder and encapsulates the persona she embodied.

For this dress from LeeZu Baxter, I wanted to find an elegant, old school look but I knew I couldn’t pull off Lauren Bacall, so I proceeded as seemed natural. LeeZu has never been afraid of pushing the boundaries of what she can do in SL, pulling in elements of everything at her disposal—textures, mesh, prims, and old fashioned style—to create her very haute fashion. This time she has mesh layers to show a very elegant gown with a lace overlay and then a great filmy flexi skirt at the bottom. With the brooch at the rib and the medallion flung over the shoulder, it’s sexy and beautiful, especially with her complex textures.

A look this complicated doesn’t need a lot else going on, so I opted for small earrings from Krystal Jenkins, which show well with my new hair from TOmmy Fairplay. This is a men’s hair, but it looks amazing on women too, especially worn with this gorgeous skin from Umazuma Metaluna from her collection for the Arcade. With deep berry lips and a gorgeously framed eye, the look is pure glamour.

Sometimes I need to break out the leather and the piercings and just get a little punk. I had all this good stuff around and I put it together and boom! Start with the great jacket/shirt combo from Tatyana Ultsch. This absolutely awesome jacket comes with a HUD that allows tons of variations (stripes on or off, different belt looks, dozens of t-shirt textures or none at all). I made sure the stripes were on to match Eudora3D’s skirt for We <3 RP. My kick ass boots are mesh delights from LeeZu Baxter that she came out with not too long ago.

My skin is a great deal at The Dressing Room Fusion. If you want to get into Inka Mexicola’s stuff at a good price, this is the way to do it. I punked it up with liner and lips from Constance Daehlie, who I seem to be a showing a lot of lately. It’s a go-to for me. Those beautiful gray eyes are from Umazuma Metaluna’s set at Chapter Four. Hasuko Kuramoto brought out these mesh ears not long ago and I made my own earrings from full perm pieces from LCorse. And my updo? A brutally brilliant bun from Kattington.

Everywhere Hair

I called this “everywhere” hair because Thora Charron from LeLutka has managed to hit every demographic in SL for her Hair Fair offerings: RP, high fashion, romantic and dressy. In Thora’s typical style, the textures are detailed and beautiful with all the exacting touches typical of a LeLutka hair.

The styles, of course, vary in vision. Using mesh in interesting and exciting ways, Thora has managed to make a collection for Hair Fair that is certain to donate lots to Wigs for Kids, especially with the lush hair colors and great hair textures.

The hair comes in packs by color and do not include a HUD. This may or may not be a winner for some. Certainly, wearing non scripted hair IS a winner to most people, and there are abundant color choices. I love this lush red—Harvard—and think it’s stunning for all these hair styles.

This cheerful Beatles’ tune popped up and made a perfect title for this beauty, who I have named Martha. Fashion for Life opens today, featuring the work of over 150 designers, with donations from a portion of every single sale going to RFL. Because of RFL SL’s rules, the designers were required to load their items into individual vendors, one at a time, so you had better shop til you drop to make it worth their while. (It’s open two weeks. Take a sim a night or day and you’ll have seen everything and been able to explore these gorgeous sims too.)

The sims are, as I have mentioned, gorgeous. I took today’s photos on Pluto Fairey’s beautiful sim, which is sponsored in part by LeeZu Baxter. And check out the dress LeeZu is offering as her exclusive. Available in eight combinations, this down-right sexy dress with its bold graphic print will put you ahead of the crowd, especially with this amazing silhouette on a proprietary mesh piece. LeeZu has filled the store with items, all in the RFL vendors, so buy buy buy! (And make sure you click the flowers—there is a dance pose in them. I will be spending any time at FFL dancing in these flowers.)

My goal was to be top to bottom FFL content and I managed it. Start at the top with hair from Shylah Honey and Tommy Fairplay. With their great texture change HUD I was able to get this great two-colored look that matches my dress. My skin comes from LadyLuy and includes a ton of makeup options including blush. My eyes are from a set being sold by Marisela Bouchard, who generously paid for two shops so she could sell skins and clothing. My jewelry is offered as the exclusives by Sebastian Dionysus and Plurabelle Laszlo (who is also offering some darling shoes that I somehow have to get into the blog). Sasy Scarborough leapt in at the last minute to grab a store and is offering some darling nails, one of which is just great colors (no decoration), which is great for many outfits. Inventoil Made Easier

A few years ago I introduced the word “inventoil” to the world, which was my word for going through my inventory and sorting things. At the time my inventory was almost manageable. I knew what I had and where it might be. That ended a couple years ago when boxes exploded with fatpacks of fatpacks, and I started joining events to blog. And oh, well, I shop a lot too. Pfff.

StarlightShining clued me into a fancy trick in Firestorm that is going to revolutionize your inventory, especially if you have a hoarding problem as I do. And I’m going to teach you how to do it. The bottom line is that you are going to be able to pack massive amounts of stuff into a package without manually moving it. It’s kind of like those Spacebags that “triple your storage’ when you vacuum out the air.

First, get the Firestorm client. This only works with Firestorm as far as I know.

You need to select what you want boxed. Make a folder at the top layer (meaning “Inventory > Folder”). If it’s in any other folders, this will not work. My folder is “~ 100 Block,” full of some dope stuff I got to blog for the 100 Block, some of which you saw here. The event is over and I am desperate not to part with these things but the reality is, they have to be packed away if I can’t bear to delete them. I named the folder with the ~ (a tilde in geek terms) so it would sort to the bottom of my inventory, making it easier to find. (You can name with ! at the beginning and it sorts to the top but I have used that trick too many times for it to be useful to me anymore.)

Everything in that folder, including folders, is going to pack into the package at ONE LEVEL. That means the stuff IN the folders will go into the box but the folder separation will not. So if you pack folders in this folder, don’t expect them to remain sorted. I don’t personally care. Most people name things in a manner that they sort correctly. And if they don’t, well, I didn’t need it anyway.

Edit the box and hit “Copy Key.” You are going to need that in a moment.

In the chat line of local chat type “zdrop on <paste what you copied from Copy Key here> <name of folder EXACTLY with capitalization correct here>”. The package and folder do not have to have the same name, incidentally. I just happened to do that. This is a photo of what I ended up typing.

If you did it all correctly, you will see the message in your chat window start scrolling by and witness each item being packed into the package. The progress will fill up your screen but no one else’s.

While it packs, resume your normal activities in the sim. Pose for photos (though the little starry line might show as you package), furnish your house, sort other items in inventory (though you can’t start another zdrop transfer), chat in Skin Addiction. It’s not a quick process if you have a lot of things.

The biggest thing I found is that you need to stay within in the sim you are on and while I have not tested this, I am guessing you have to stay in relatively close proximity to the package. I managed to thoroughly furnish the Theosophy sky box while packaging all my LeeZu one evening.

If you are packing a lot, I would advise you to get a scripted package that will allow you to scroll through menus to find the contents of the box. I use the Bright Container myself, which is old technology but works for me. And yes, you can pack into packages that already contain scripts, objects, notecards, etc. If I find more 100 Block items, I can simply jam them into that box from the same method.

If you check inside your package, it may take some time for the inventory to pull up but you should see this:

Any no copy items will have gone into that package. The rest transfer, so if you want to keep the folder in your inventory AND have a box of things, go ahead. I will be holding on to that folder for a day or two more and then maybe, if I can bear it, moving it to trash. In a day or two I might even “empty trash.”

Let me give you a quick review of my outfit. Start with the aforementioned LeeZu Baxter, whose work I can not BEAR to part with. Her newest top features a peekaboo peel off strap that drops down, so I put on the bodysuit that Kinu Mayako is offering for a mere 5L in the Pink Fusion Hunt. (Oh hunt items—another choice batch for boxing!) My skirt is Datrip Blackbart’s Pink Fusion Hunt item and my shows with anklets are from Mr. Gospel Voom and his innate knowledge of what turns men on. (I got lots of compliments on these shoes, ladies… hint hint).

My skin is Carina Larsen’s newest and I have to say I have a secret crush on her work. Her skins look like no one else’s but have a sophistication and freshness all at once that make them gorgeous and unique. My eyes are also from Carina and include a HUD for changing size, glow, and shadowing. I will be featuring more of these mesh eyes. Finally my hair is Chiaki Xue’s newest, a darling short cut that includes a little bouncy flexi so when I am hanging upside down, you can see it fly out.

I couldn’t resist cranking it up with tights from LacunaInc from The Attic and LeeZu Baxter’s latest mesh boots, so sexy and funky and fashionable.

Once again Paul and Bastchild give you the great color change HUD so that you can wear this versatile skirt over and over. And of course as always, Paul gives you a really fine fanny. In fact, this mesh is engineered really well with a great curve on the hips, iat the waist and even in the option of alphas (there IS an upskirt option, you naughty ones). This is what it comes down to—you get a “fatpack” in a great HUD, sexy leather textures and a finely-engineered butt. It’s a must have.

This is going to be one of those mega blog entries where I share all the pretties I have picked up or been given. Start with this fabulous skybox from Tobias Corvair, which he is featuring at Fameshed. He calls it the “Architect’s Skybox” but I have figured out that it’s the gacha-player’s skybox with all its wall space and shelves. I hung the clever windowboxes from Barnesworth Anubis outside with his pansies and vines (which you can’t see) and took a shot through the window. Barnesworth makes the flowers super big so you can arrange and shrink them. A great tip is to LINK them when you have arranged to reduce the land impact.

Tobias gives the main floor a big space so you can enjoy a main living and social area. I arranged a more traditional chair from Hideki Carami’s gacha at Chapter Four (you get two chairs in the “prize”) with Cory Edo’s latest chairs for Collabor88. Cory’s chairs come in a handful of great decorating colors (lots of neutrals) and have a huge variety of poses and animations and, if you’re in the mood for love, delectable adult animations.

Tobias tucks little shelves under the staircases—the one up to the bedroom, which I made into a contemplative loft lounge—and then another up to a top-floor balcony. I put some of my yard sale gacha finds on the shelves, particularly my collection of art dummies from Robin Sojourner. (Yes, I do the gacha yard sales. Your trash is my treasure!) And he gives you an abundance of walls. I was able to hang my entire collection of LeeZu Baxter gacha posters around the skybox.

Tya Fallingbridge has a nice set of home accessories at FaMESHed including this modern lounge chair with footstool, side table and funky flower lamp. The chair includes several relaxing poses including this contemplative one, perfect for resting and listening to music after a long day.

I opted to make coffee the theme of the kitchen downstairs, using a darling graphic from Isabelle Requiem’s gacha at Oh My Gacha. She includes several kitchen and house décor items, including the rug beneath my feet. These little touches are what makes a house a home.

My outfit is an assemblage of pieces I liked together—first, the slouchy sweater from Sanura Snowpaw, a warm casual look for being at home. I paired it with Ivey Deschanel’s skirt from her ensembles at the Dressing Room Fusion. I am so glad to see Ivey working with mesh. Her textures have always been outstanding and at 70L, the skirt and top (which you don’t see here) are a steal with the quality she puts into them. My little boots are LeeZu Baxter’s mesh concoctions, wearable art on my feet rather than just on the walls.

Shyla Diggs has come out with a new skin for Collabor88, and I wear it with pleasure, opting for a pale lip to match the smoky eye, which accents a pair of eyes from Umazuma Petaluna’s gacha at Chapter Four. Fortunately, I lucked into these blue beauties though looking at her prize board, they are are all gorgeous. Amberly Boccacio is offering several colors of this funky necklace at Collabor88—it comes with silver or gold metal. And Circe Ishtari has made a long short cut with winsome wisps and a color change menu in the hair itself—click for colors and relax.
