I swear I am going to keep it a warm December. One way is wear sweaters and other warm clothes. I put together this cute ensemble with some new things that have come out to make my December sexy and warm. Start from the top with the great KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar gift, a set of scarves from AvaGardner Kungler in three colorways for great accessorizing. Ava gave us a pink and then a black and brown (for men too!) so you can switch it up and be warm.

I matched to the scarf Moonbubble Gothly’s darling mesh sweater, which comes in several colors, and is perfect for the FROST event. I paired it with jeans from the Mustang Sally outfit that GraceHaddington recently put on her floor. With a great washed look and fit, these jeans will work with boots! And these boots were essential—not only for getting through Froukje Hoorenbeek’s prim snow but also because Carmella Ruby made them so cute. She includes a script to remove or show the sock. I just dig the low profile and the great texture she uses.

Shylah Honey has just put out one of my favorite hairs she has ever made at N21. With the waves that turn about on themselves. It’s the ultimate in wavy, windblown hair, sexier than heck, and awesome with their great texture-change HUD. This is a *must have.* My beautiful soft skin is one I picked up weeks ago during the Skin Addiction Black Friday from June Salmson. The face is exquisite with a beauty and softness that highlights my pretty eyes from Constance Daehlie. How can a girl not keep warm with such goodness?

I don’t know about you but sometimes happiness comes from a bit of color and a fun pattern like polka dots. Beanster Potato’s new sweater comes with a 5-texture HUD so you can swap around textures. With a sexy-silky look to it, it is drapey in all the right ways and very sophisticated in its fashion. I wear silly tights from Irehami that I got from The New Tailors event. They come with appliers for Slink feet so you can do something like wear open-toed boots like these from GraceHaddington and not get cold tootsies.

My KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar gift today is this gorgeous hair with hat from Mina Nakamura. She includes with it a set of five ombre colors and TEN hat colors in the HUD for color change options. I love this stripey look but there are some more seasonal patterns as well. A free hair. Mesh! Can you beat that?

My skin is one of Umazuma Metaluna’s for the Arcade. Her set for this round have interesting shadings around the eyes and some great and unusual makeup colorways without being garish. I love Uma’s skins because she has such a unique vision.

It’s probably time to spoil yourself a little for the holidays. You have been through Black Friday and Cyber Monday and even Afterthought Tuesday (and wearing those dangerously high heels while you shopped). My skin is one of the collection at NatalieWells’ shop that I picked up while I was doing the Skin Addiction Black Friday. I love this skin—the tone, the lips, the eyes, the brows, the body. I imagined a very well-to-do, well-dressed lady about town when I made this look and GraceHaddington’s newest sheath with jacket is what made the look. Grace does textures like no one else I have ever met. She combines and layers them on mesh pieces with amazing proportions and shadows and depths that create beautiful, high fashion looks. This skill is also noticeable in my stiletto pumps that Grace made. Add to that that each of these outfits comes with a texture-change HUD and the pumps have nine various textures, not just an in-world color change. The New York Times has a brilliant haiku generator on their site (http://haiku.nytimes.com/) that pulls lines from their stories and makes haiku from them. I grabbed the lead haiku from it.

I thought it suited this sophisticated look from GraceHaddington, a mesh pantsuit with an open cut back. Grace buys up mesh templates and sprinkles them with gorgeous textures, great styling and her own magic fairy dust (including a great texture-change HUD), and supports a large business with several other junior designers. Her prices are always reasonable and her output prolific. You can walk in any day of the week and find scads of new fashions, priced inexpensively.

I wore with this a new jewelry set made by Zuri Lyric in collaboration with Poulet Koenkamp. With a gorgeous set of bejeweled pearls that drops down the back and matching bracelet and earrings, the pieces come with Zuri’s texture-change scripts and are pure luxe.

I wore a super-sophisticated and sexy skin from Sawsan Secretspy that she recently had at Boho Culture but now in her store. I added the FREE lipstick Zxxrysa Magic is offering for the Dirty Turkey Hunt at her store. My short hair do is a new one from Chiaki Xue, who still makes short sassy cuts fashionable.

Finally! I can use this song. A while ago a friend of mine said this song reminded him of me and since, I have been wanting to use it and now, GraceHaddington has given me reason. This sexy dress came through with a great fit between the top and the skirt with a great mesh jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Now, Grace does use template mesh as many do but she adds a lot with her great patterns and her texture-change HUD.

I have worn these shoes from Kenadeecole that she has at the Body Modification Expo for another blog entry but need to show them again because are so sexy and so well made (“shoes that cut”). The great part is she gives two fitted shoes—one for Slink feet but also one for Belleza bodies. It’s really not a big deal (I think) for her to do a refit and offer the Belleza foot shoe and they look so fantastic. They come with a great texture-change HUD for color and metal options as well.

My skin is one of Shyla Diggs’ newer ones that she has released in full at the main store. There is something so sublime about her work, so subtle and lovely. She never has harsh colors or bold contrast. And of course, her skins all match the Belleza body, which makes it easier. A short sexy ‘do from Chiaki Xue, meant for women or men, makes this look sexy and exciting and shows off that pretty face.

I just started reading Hopscotch by Jose Cortazar, recommended this weekend by a friend. But I had just started Behind the Beautiful Forevers from Keatherine Boo, which won a scad of awards and deservingly so. It’s amazing. But then last night someone told me to read A Sand County Almanac, so of course, I couldn’t wait and cracked that open. So I’ll probably find quotes from each one to share here.

This outfit reminded me of Cortazar’s description in the first chapter of his mixed-up book, a lady named Maga, who accompanies him through Paris on many adventures. (If you read the book and Maga turns out to be a poop, don’t tell me. I just read the first chapter so far.) I loved his description of this woman, and I thought it suited this look, a sophisticated beauty. I have assembled a set of mesh pieces on the Belleza body to prove, once again, that is quite doable. First, a top from one dress made by Nevery Lorakeet with a sheer panel on top and a lovely blousing that leads to a belt I found in inventory from Fhara Acacia (search: “belt,” scroll). My skirt is part of a dress from GraceHaddington that she will be putting out at Designer Showcase this month. With its perfectly shaded texture and flirty shape, it’s a great piece even without its accompanying jacket and worth it at the price. A handbag from Monicuzza Babenco from The Dressing Room and heels I retrofitted to the Belleza feet from Aleida Rhode (originally meant for Slink feet but nonrigged, so I could make them work), and the outfit is complete.

I am, as I said, wearing the Belleza body. Why? Well, frankly, I love being able to switch my hands and feet at the touch of a HUD button rather than searching through my inventory for the many separate pieces that make up separate mesh hands and feet. I was able to match my body skin pretty nicely to Sawsan Secretspy’s new Lolita skin, which she recently released at her store. I got Karla Marama’s hair at the Dressing Room. The sleek, low style is very nice though the rigging still needs a little work (saw some breaks in turning my head and pieces obscuring my face). It’s not the most sophisticated mesh hair. For a discount you can get bright colors at the event but regular hair colors like this were bundled for a higher price.

A beautiful look for the beautiful notion of “grace.” My dress is one of GraceHaddington’s newest, a beautiful joining of two mesh pieces to create a whole look . It comes with a texture-change HUD so you can choose between three color ways of the texture, and with the straps up the side and the leather inset, it skirts the border between pretty and sexy. I am wearing these strappy wedges from Lokii Violet at District 5, which also include a great texture-change HUD with a bunch of choices for the straps and the metal. The pretty bejeweled choker is one Maxi Gossamer made for a recent fair and I hope is now in her store. It includes color change for the larger and smaller gems for mix and match.

The ladies in Skin Addiction spent all day yesterday talking about this skin from Umazuma Metaluna. It’s a huge hit because of its beautiful features, freckled skin, full juicy lips and wonderful body. If any of this appeals at all, get over to Fantasy Collective and get it! My lovely braid is Truth Hawks’ newest hair and ideal for a lovely pulled back look. The braid is, of course, rigged so it moves wonderfully with the avatar and provides versatility for many looks.

Stare at My Hair

It’s that time of the summer again. Hair Fair! Last night the sims opened to designers and bloggers for shopping and as everyone danced between the ginormous bottles of hair products (labeled “Esselle”), the number of hair styles and designers boggled the mind.  As always, every item donates a percentage to Wigs for Kids, a non-profit organization that helps kids who have lost their hair to various reasons (chemotherapy, alopecia, etc.) get hair replacement systems.

One of my favorite designers is in hair fair this year: Damselfly. After a boom in popularity for their big fluffy hair, they regrouped and now the partnership of TOmmy Fairplay and Shylah Honey is back making great mesh hair for women AND men. TOmmy and Shylah are donating a portion of the sale of any and all of these hairs to Wigs for Kids.

If you have noticed, TOmmy and Shylah have been busy at several events and it’s been a pleasure showing and wearing their hair. They really want to get your attention. The hairs all come with a handy texture-change HUD that also includes resizing for non-rigged styles AND lest you are concerned about the scripts, they are removable.

My travel budget is kind of slim this year so I am relying on travel within SL to sate my needs. Addy Hax and several others from her community built a lovely little parcel based on their pretty sim in SL. You get a taste of little Italy right at SL11B (which still has the sims open). And what a taste it is!

Which brings me to Italian women. How do they manage to eat all that pasta and still stay so chic and lovely? I think it’s the lifestyle—the cobblestone streets, the pretty views, the refreshing air. (Yes, I realize this is a very imaginary Italy but I think the attitude of enjoying life, of seeing beauty, of feeling the invigoration of living is certainly an Italian way of being.)

I decided to go chic with one of GraceHaddington’s newest designs, which she is soon to release to the public for her summer line. On July 5 and 6, LivGlam is hosting a fashion show at which the entire collection will be released. Grace is terrifically excited, and I can’t blame her. This piece, with translucent top and skirt, has Grace’s signature luscious prints and her inimitable style. I can only imagine a dress this chic in Italy.

I accessorized with Erratic Rain’s new slingbacks for Summerfest. Erratic does her own mesh and she’s painstakingly meticulous about it, so when you get a pair of her shoes, it’s like buying handmade Italian shoes in Milan. Every single pixel is perfect. She offers these in a variety of classic summer colors and prints. Abraxxa Anatine’s dangling semi-precious stone earrings with a texture-change HUD allowed me to find the perfect look to match.

Shyla Diggs’ makeup for her latest skins at the Liaison Collaborative is lovely—deep and sensuous and as usual, we see Tricky Boucher’s great work on this lovely skin. My hair is a twisty ponytail from Shylah Honey from the Manga Fair, a great look for a manga style, I am guessing, with its corkscrew shape, but also chic enough for this look with wispy bangs pulled to the side.

Pink Punk

A pink punk princess is today’s look, made so by Datrip Blackbart’s fascinating dress made for Fashionart. With a metal framed peplum skirt over a zebra-striped and rose bud black mini, the dress is a juxtaposition of textures and ideas and overall, a success. I love the modified halter top of the dress, the colors, the idea of metals and fabrics and sequins, and yet it all goes together, unified by the color pink. GraceHaddington’s versatile handbag, being sold also at Fashionart, has a 60 Pantone color HUD. Senzati0n Domenitzo is offering these terrific strappy shoes at Fashionart with six colors on the HUD and they fit Slink feet. Yay!

I dressed up Aleida Rhode’s intense new skin with pretty pink lips and prim glittering eyeshadow from Aida Ewing. (Yes, mesh eyeshadow!) Chiaki Xue’s newest boy hair makes the look with her great pink hairbase. The hair is what turns the princess into a pink punk and makes her sleek and edgy. Poses from Kay Weston from Fashionart give a little room for flair.
