Yo quiero llegar
A esa tierra linda
Que está más allá
Donde hay una sonrisa
A bailar la cumbia
¡Candela, candela!
A bailar la cumbia
¡Que quema, que quema!
~ “Cumbia Donde” by Calexico

Cumbia Donde

This great song from Calexico (even better performed live, right, Barely?) is the kick off for this danceable look. I have donned Mea Carnell’s latest necklace for My Attic and dangerously high platforms from Glamistry. My dress is NataPorolo’s offering for Shiny Shabby, a beautifully textured, gorgeously colored silk piece. My gripe with the dress is the sizing. It’s shown here as a “maitreya” fit but it did not fit my Maitreya mesh body by any means, and my body shape is not extreme in any measure. The hips and legs were so off I had to do major surgery to my shape with alphas and sliders to get into the dress and then adjust the top to fill it in. I understand that Maitreya has not released their rigging, but some designers seem to be getting it spot on or close enough. It should not have been included as a “maitreya fit” if it didn’t work along  most sizes of shape worn on the Maitreya body.

Cumbia Donde

I used Ensorcelante’s skin for Shiny Shabby as an applier on the Logo Alex mesh head from Maximillion Grant. I will say it looks different to me—the proportions are not the same and I wondering if the creator even tried it on the Logo head and if this was their intent. The lips are full and luscious but the eyes seem off to me in some way—too small or too enclosed. The brows do not extend around the browbone, which is a problem I have found with a lot of Omega skins for the Alex head. The body is, however, gorgeous with a great pair of legs, nicely textured arms and a beautiful tone. I donned one of Mirja Mills’ great braided ‘dos, now in store as it just left an event. I love what she’s doing with braids, using textures to mimic braids on these sinuous long locks.

“She was not one for emptying her face of expression. ” ~ J.D. Salinger, Franny and Zooey

Franny

Mochi Milena finally came out with her appliers for Maximillion Grant’s Alex mesh head for Logo, a head that accepts Omega appliers, which has become a boon to the mesh head market. Mochi has shown that with artistry and skill, you can make a good shape look great, especially with a wide range of tones and several makeup options in the HUD, including thinner and plumper lips (if you find you want your lipstick to lie a few pixels in). I applied it to the Alex head, which is the head Mochi used when designing the skin but then I couldn’t resist trying it on the Chloe head as well, which was recently rereleased with Omega capabilities as well. Both heads look glorious with the skins. And of course, I had to use the various expressions HUDs to test the makeups’ versatility.

Franny

This blog entry was really supposed to be about the Maximillion Grant’s mesh heads paired with Mochi Milena’s skin appliers, but let’s talk about the dress too. In perfectly crafted mesh, ValentinaEvangelista has made this tight shiny latex-lovers’ dress for ROMP. It’s a kinky sexy dream of a dress, not showing as much skin as suggesting containment, restraint, and sexiness. Paired with Glamistry’s newest strappy heels, it’s a sexy look. Topping it with one of Thora Charron’s just-released styles at Lelutka was easy to do, especially with her wide range of great colors and textures. More forthcoming. And AvaGardnerKungler’s earrings for On9 glam it up just that little bit more.

ValentinaEvanglista actually offers this dress in two versions, one plain (yet hardly “plain”) and the other with derogatory words on it to mimic the outfits Amber Rose and Blac Chyna wore to the MTV Video Music Awards. I get the point of the dresses but it’s a fine line from wearing “bitch” or “slut” on my dress as a political statement (and in their case, a publicity stunt) and wearing it on a necklace around my neck or on a septum piercing or worse, tattooed on my skin, even my virtual skin. (I guess my point is, I ain’t wearing it. Being a woman doesn’t make me a bitch or a slut.) When we have suits that say “privileged and brutal white boy arrogant dick” worn by the Donald Trumps of the world maybe I will feel more comfortable.

“We carve our destinies blindfolded, with sharp knives.” ~ Claire Fontaine

Destiny

ROMP opened today so the libido of the grid just cranked up a few degrees. With an assortment of sexy items, from apparel to furniture to décor to toys, you are bound to find something you like for you and the one[s] you love. I managed a sexy look with this applier lingerie from Roslin Petion, usable on many mesh bodies and sexed up with collars and armcuffs from Muka Release (which are mod if you want to add scripts, etc, later) plus a blindfold from Kreao Kujisawa. Katya Valeska is offering these sexy poses at ROMP as well.

Destiny

The big news is that Maximillion Grant finally finished the conversion of the Chloe mesh head for Omega. I got to test it with several Omega appliers meant for the Logo Alex head and the Catwa Jessica head, and I will say it’s a great alternative for wearing the Omega-ready skins. Some do not translate well but some simply didn’t translate well to any of the heads (brows not extended far enough, lips either too full or too thin, eyes made for teensy wide-spread elven eyes on system heads). Just like fitting a skin on your system face, it has to fit to your system head. The great thing is more are coming out so we all don’t look like Stepford Wives.

Shylah Honey’s loose and sexy wavy ponytail tops the look. Damselfly recently upgraded all their HUDs to include 40 colors instead of 20. So per purchase you get 40 shades of your favorite hair color. That’s like 100% more free!

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” ~ Stephen King
Just One More Page

I’m in trouble. I just got Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch from the library and now I am caught up in the story, so much so that I am up all night reading, unable to put it down once I allow myself to start reading. It’s an incredible book so far, anguishing and funny and all that you want from a book. It’s quite long too, so I am guessing I will be up several nights finishing it. It seems once I start, it’s hard to stop and only pure exhaustion breaks the spell.

I tried to convey that in this photo with a woman reading at a desk and the world of the novel blooming around her. My novel reader is wearing Kiddo Oh’s classically-cut dress and sitting at Tobias Convair’s desk set, both for this round of Shiny Shabby. I accessorized with Aleida Rhode’s cute, inexpensive flats for the Mix Event and AvaGardner Kungler’s exquisite bracelet for We <3 RP.

Lots of skin makers are making Omega compatible skins aimed at getting them on the Logo mesh head. Pixy Snook made this charming skin with appliers for what seemed dozens of bodies, but she clearly shaped the look around the Logo head with its luscious lips and bright eyes. Tabata Jewell’s back-knotted ponytail for Shiny Shabby is a lovely casual look for a book lover who wants to devote her time to the story, not messing with her hair.

“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv’d but three summer days – three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.” ~ John Keats

Three Summer Days

Summer is here finally! It’s been a long couple years of hard weather for many people, so we all seize on whatever we can get. This darling outfit from Mami Jewell is a perfect celebration of summer with butterflies floating about and its own butterfly wings. With a sexy mesh dress beneath, it’s a fairy’s ideal summer look.

Three Summer Days

Maximillion Grant has made appliers for the Maitreya body to match his mesh head, which I had shown recently. To be honest, I rather like this body, especially the legs, which are beautifully detailed and human. Those are some sexy legs. I clicked around the makeups to find my ideal look for the mesh face. With Mina Nakamura’s windblown hair for Kustom9, this look is the ideal celebration of summer!
