Intelligent Life

“I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here.”― Arthur C. Clarke

Intelligent Life

With the Brexit vote recently and people still supporting Donald Trump, you really have to wonder if there is intelligent life on this planet. I am guessing another planet hosts smarter (and sexier) beings. My sexier smarter being took a trip to the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, which is the best place to be as it opens today. Mimikri Kit has made this cosmic peekaboo dress in several colors with a matching thong and optional tintable pasties. It is made to fit several mesh bodies and system bodies. Nuria Augapfel has created these amazing shoe/boots for the Fair with a HUD to change the inner portion of the wrap around areas to lace or fishnet.

Intelligent Life

My inspiration to be alien came from Nethya Emor’s skin featured at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair. With a blue and subtle pink tint to it, it gives an otherworldly look to an avatar. I applied it on the Catwa Destiny mesh head from the Fair (which seems stuck to me now), though it comes with Omega, TMP and many body appliers. I paired it with the darling braids MissAllSunday Lemon is featuring at Uber. They come with a hat that fits perfectly on this hair but it can be worn without (as I show here). Funky earring cuffs from Celena Galli at Cosmopolitan Room finish my look.

Wallflower

“So fellows, please listen to me:
Don’t look at a wallflower askance;
If a girl sitting lonely you see,
Just bow, smile and beg for a dance.”

Wallflower

I can’t say I am often a wallflower. I don’t go out dancing that often any more (which is a sort of wallflowerishness, I guess.) This dress might catch someone’s eye. Made by Mimikri Kit, it is an example of what she excels at—provocative textures and shapes that are beyond the ordinary. The win is in the details—the seams that match up, the clean edges of the system pieces, the shape of each feather in the skirt, the excellent texture. Short skirts with flexi abound in SL. Most of them are not this stylish or wearable.

Wallflower

My skin is Kira Ahn’s offering for The Dressing Room Blue, which comes with several lipstick options on the tattoo layer. I love being able to choose my lipstick, and certainly this particular skin would afford eye makeup choices too. The face was a little over-dodged–not sure what happened there.

My choker is a sale item from Felicity Winslet’s closing sale at Mariposa. I recently had discovered Felicity’s work, had it in queue to blog, and then caught wind that she was closing shop. It’s a true shame because Felicity’s work is exquisite—this necklace is the least of it (and it’s gorgeous). Get down there as soon as possible to treat yourself to some beautiful gems. (She’s really nice too—handled a customer service thing for me wonderfully.)

i’m not here, no one sees me — wallflower

Caught in the Rain

City girls who run around town know you shouldn’t be caught without an umbrella these days. The weather is turning colder, the leaves are mostly off the trees, and a rainstorm could come down at any time on a gray day to drench you, so it pays to be prepared.

Caught in the Rain

First, have your umbrella. Second, have a good warm coat like this one from cocoro Lemon. I love how cocoro has styled the coat with a cheetah print inside. This coat is so authentic, from its dangling laces to its hood to its untailored silhouette. She was smart to make the coat open and a little oversized—it’s the cheetah that gives it zing. I donned pants from Uriah Eulenberg that I got in a set I purchased at a Designers United event. Made for men, the pants are high waisted knickers with a great wool tweedy texture. Blessedly, they look great on women too. I layer cheetah print leggings from Anyusha Lilienthal underneath, part of her animal series. And a cheetah print top from Mimikri Kit, picked up at a recent Dressing Room foray, completes my outfit.

Caught in the Rain

Mallory Cowen still presents some of the freshest skins on the grid and her new Phoebe2 is no exception. Once again we have the unbeatable glow that Mallory advertises, the finely shaped eyebrows, the expressive eye makeups, the pretty lips and the great skin tones.

Onyx LeShelle recently came out with a new slew of content—hair and shoes. I have not had a chance to check out the shoes, but I certainly liked her new hair selections, especially as they show movement and life despite the static nature of sculpties. (Though she has always been good at making hair look less like a prim on the head and more like individual strands making a whole.) I loved this hair for this look—anyone caught in the rain would be a bit disheveled.

Caught in the Rain

Gospel Voom has recently come out with a new set of women’s boots and they are fabulous and chic, especially when one might be concerned that Gospel can only do clunky Doc Martens. These are well-built with a gorgeous sculpty shape and absolutely brilliant leather textures. I love the little leather tie.

Caught in the Rain

a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think i too have known
autumn too long

Big Snuggly Sweater

I traded my summer clothes for my winter clothes the other day, which requires hauling a prim out of my studio, unpacking it, watching my inventory blow up, and then taking said same prim, packing it with summer clothes, and scurrying it away. (You think this is not true? Well, it’s not entirely true but I do have prims packed full of stuff in my studio.)

So after I wrangled the Fishook dress into the prim (and got a little hurt in the process), I looked at what I had. A few holey sweaters, some socks without matches, and a skirt I somehow got spaghetti sauce on. (How did I do that? I NEVER eat in SL!) Clearly I had to go shopping! (That is my excuse and I am sticking to it!)

Big Snuggle Sweater

I found myself at SMS (So Many Styles), tripping over the Fifty Linden Friday sign on the way to the good stuff. Inside I found, well.. so many styles–granny dresses, patchwork, vintage, ethnic, jewelry. My cam landed on this cute sweater. It looked just like the oversized snuggly sweater I would wear on a nippy day with its generously sculpted cowl neck collar and bell sleeves. Irie Campese clearly has a lot to say to the fashion world in SL, all of it good.

Big Snuggle Sweater

I ran home and pulled on these versatile leggings from Mimikri Kit. I can see these being utilized in many ways—with a sleek sexy top out dancing at a club, with a dress and boots to keep my legs warm, on a lazy day when dressing up and feeling uncomfortable is out of the question.

Big Snuggle Sweater

I found a sweet deal on a set of skins and hair for 200L for the batch on the second floor of Fishy Strawberry—similar to Cupcake’s gift packs of skins and dresses. Put together a pretty good look pretty cheaply with these packs from Fae Eriksen, and get a taste of her great work. This skin is one of the varied tones in the pack, all with blue eye shadow and the pale lip.

Truth Hawks pumps out hair every week, week after week, all varied, all beautiful, all perfect for the beautiful avatar about town. How the heck does he do it? This casual but stylish do, held back with color change hair bands, suited the curvy shapes of the sweater perfectly.

And of course, my trusty old Bloom boots from Onyx LeShelle. I remember when I first got these, in Maitreya’s little store with its five pairs of boots and five shirts and two posing stands and a Buddha on the wall. Remember that? I nearly fainted when I first found these boots—soft supple suede, richly colored, stylishly buckled. Find these babies in RL for me and I will be your best friend forever.

Feeling Purple

I was feeling a little purple today. Perhaps it was the grape jelly on my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Maybe it was the blueberries I ate with them. Not sure, but I had to have purple.

Feeling Purple

I started with this lovely dress from Mimikri Kit. I have secretly been a fan of Mimikri’s for a while, ever since a few items in one of her satellite stores took me to her main store, which had only a few more pieces. Now she has a completely full two story boutique with imaginative and fashion forward pieces covering the walls. The print has purple and blue themes and a beautiful Asian floral print entwined with black lace. Spectacular.

Feeling Purple

Mimikri’s system pieces are exact and very well done. Though I show a dress without prims, I will attest to her great prim building abilities and her ingenuity in texturing and rearranging prims. She has been working hard on creating clothing and pushing her boundaries—you can see it as you cam from the top floor, with her older content, down to the main floor. Mimikri clearly isn’t satisfied throwing a new texture on the same old skirt. She’s pushing into new territory and learning new skills with each piece. And it looks like she’s having a lot of fun doing it.

Feeling Purple

I topped the dress with a flirty Dorothy Hamill cut from *booN. Leave it to boo Nakamura to take an old hair cut and make it new with choppy ends and a slight purple tinge.

Feeling Purple

I added AnaLee Balut’s jewelry. She does some amazing jewelry—very couture and very fun. I love how her beads float around the neck and wrist.

Shoes from Melanie Zhao and Lissa Maertens finish the look. This is a new foray for Lissa, who clearly contributed the textures while Melanie contributed the building skills. The texture was a gorgeous silky purple chinoiserie.

I did miss being able to use Melanie’s resizer script on these shoes. While they were cute, I did need to manually adjust them a bit, and I am getting spoiled from all these great shoe makers’ huds.
