I took a springtime walk at Nusquam, enjoying the windlight through the trees and the warming spring air on the sim. I went for a black and white look to combine some fun pieces from The Project Se7en and Shiny Shabby. First is this dress/shirt combo from Larcoco Mathy for the Project Se7en that includes a HUD with a ton of choices for the inside dress. Then I pulled on funky socks made by BerthaWeiss, also at The Project Se7en, which has resizable garters that include a HUD for color choices. I am wearing some funky platform shoes from Pill Kanto for Shiny Shabby, a double balance on the train track at Nusquam. Mea Carnell’s stylish necklace for SaNaRae adds some circles to all my stripes.

Shyla Diggs is rocking the appliers lately and has come out with another applier for the Catwa heads, this one new for the Mix Event and absolutely gorgeous. With several eye makeup and lipstick choices, it’s a great look on the Annie head. Shylah Honey has been cranking out some darling looks lately and this wavy casual ‘do for Fameshed is perfect for this spring day.

Chill Out–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 6

Ever see those model photos where they haul some poor model out into the freezing cold and make her wear something completely revealing? Once again, SL proves it doesn’t matter! Besides a little frost bite on my toes, it all worked out splendidly at the Frisland sim. I wanted to show this frosty but hot dress from StellaJane, today’s gift for the KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar, in the kind of pretty setting it deserves. The texture evokes snow without being completely seasonal so you can wear this dress over and over again—and it’s a GIFT! I dressed up my look with Glamistry’s newest slingbacks, absolutely sexy shoes with his great texture change HUD, fitted to all sorts of feet. I found Druunah Esharham’s great necklace at We <3 RP and had to have it to put photos of my KittyCatS in. Where else would I wear them but close to my heart?

By the way, I love this new trend of being able to join a group for a sim for a minimal amount to rez pose stands. It’s a brilliant idea for the sim owners and photographers. I was able to join Frisland’s group, rez my pose stand and my LumiPro projector and go to town!

Shyla Boucher has just released another set of appliers for the Logo Alex heads, and I have to say they are absolutely gorgeous. I never felt quite right in a mesh head, even Max’s sexy Alex, but with Shyla’s skin, I feel wonderfully beautiful. Note the very slight cleft in the chin, the beautifully shaped lips that work so well with the expressions on the head, the perfect brows and pretty eye makeup. Shyla contoured the blush on the head just right. Mina Nakamura’s lovely wind-tossed hair in a set of special shades for the Mix Event (priced half off) is perfect for this chill out.

Fall is a time of a lot of running around. School’s going again, the harvest is coming in (and if you think that’s silly, it’s not—I have a fridge full of vegetables I have to do something with), the garden has to be cleared, leaves have to be raked. And meanwhile we are clinging to the last few warm days for a long time with evening descending ever earlier. So it’s hard to sit still and just… relax and enjoy.  I ran around SL shopping in this outfit from Cecilia Blachere, who does amazing textures on mesh. Check out the suede on this skirt and the beautiful knit of this sweater. I accessorized with new pieces from Monicuzza Babenco, including a darling handbag which comes with a HUD to change the inside part so you have a nice neutral bag with optional details to change.

Kuranosuke Kamachi’s beautiful new style tops this look in a very lovely way. I am trying another skin made for Logo heads on the new Chloe. This is the skin offered by Otyebis for Shiny Shabby and I would say it lies on the Chloe head in a very interesting way. There is a lot to love—the pores on the skin, the skin tone, the nicely drawn brows (though not their placement), the pretty lips. But something is just not working quite right. I tried to make it work for me—changing out eyes, clicking different lashes on the HUD, but I think the nature of how these skins are made, they want a tiny, widely spaced round eye and narrow nose, which this head doesn’t quite have.

I’m in trouble. I just got Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch from the library and now I am caught up in the story, so much so that I am up all night reading, unable to put it down once I allow myself to start reading. It’s an incredible book so far, anguishing and funny and all that you want from a book. It’s quite long too, so I am guessing I will be up several nights finishing it. It seems once I start, it’s hard to stop and only pure exhaustion breaks the spell.

I tried to convey that in this photo with a woman reading at a desk and the world of the novel blooming around her. My novel reader is wearing Kiddo Oh’s classically-cut dress and sitting at Tobias Convair’s desk set, both for this round of Shiny Shabby. I accessorized with Aleida Rhode’s cute, inexpensive flats for the Mix Event and AvaGardner Kungler’s exquisite bracelet for We <3 RP.

Lots of skin makers are making Omega compatible skins aimed at getting them on the Logo mesh head. Pixy Snook made this charming skin with appliers for what seemed dozens of bodies, but she clearly shaped the look around the Logo head with its luscious lips and bright eyes. Tabata Jewell’s back-knotted ponytail for Shiny Shabby is a lovely casual look for a book lover who wants to devote her time to the story, not messing with her hair.

The MadPea Productions Art Gacha opened yesterday, and I have to say, if you want some fun or beautiful pieces for décor or gifting, this is the place to go. One of my favorite artists is participating—Garvie Garzo—and if you like whimsical pieces that add a touch of though or fun to your space, hers are the best. I chose three pieces to show from her set, which are very much her style. The sign flashes on and off (but not with in world light) and has that great neon sound. I would highly recommend you check them all out as they are fun and inexpensive.

Beanster Potato was one of the first designers I went to way back when when I wanted a complete and cool outfit. She did sweaters with skirts and then tights and a little bracelet and maybe cute boots—she thought it all out but made her pieces separate enough you could wear them with other things. With the advent of mesh, beanster has not stopped but continues in this great tradition with her SLX Outfits. This set I am wearing comes with everything—top, jeans, hip belt and jewelry, even pumps though I opted for my own shoes. They fit and look fabulous and come at a terrific price. Bonus is the texture change HUD she packs with the top so you can have a number of looks out of this package. I chose KenadeeCole’s feathered sandals, also with a texture-change HUD for the feathers, to make this look a bit more casual.

Kuranosuke Kamachi is cranking out hair and I have to say, it’s all luscious and long with great textures. Included is a pretty comprehensive texture-change HUD so you can find just the tone you like. I am wearing the Alex mesh head from Maximillion Grant and this time I opted not to fool around with the expressions. This head can be more than that—you can actually walk around wearing and enjoying it (and who walks around with their tongue hanging out besides my dog?). It’s a great shape for Sawsan Secretspy’s lovely skin for the Mesh Body Addicts fair, a skin that comes with several makeup options. I popped in Eleri Catlyn’s mesh eyes and adjusted them to size for the head.

Finally, my seat is a collaboration between Wavie Haller and Tegin Serin for the LTD round. I walked around and was amazed by the offerings at that particular event. There were some lovely pieces for decorating, especially this chair, which comes with a ton of poses and great textures for the pillow and blanket, all scripted in for your decorating and redecorating pleasure. One thing I really like about Wavie is that he is willing to collaborate with many designers and groups and seems to do so with ease. That’s a particular difficulty with many creators in SL and RL too. To work and seamlessly combine efforts is sometimes impossible, but he seems to make it happen again and again. That’s real.

A punk look is what I needed to have today because of this new jacket from Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus, which includes a set of great designs for the back and of course, the add-on tank. The jacket has been made to fit the Maitreya mesh body as well as including all the standard sizes, and it’s rigged just perfectly to the body. I am wearing teeny tiny little shorts from Kinu Mayako that she is selling at the Thrift Shop for 50% off (as everything there is) and applied leggings from Tatyana Ultsch. Light blue boots from Moonbubble Gothly complete the look.

My skin is Umazuma Metaluna’s newest for Collabor88. All her skins for this round have parted lips, and I struggled with that. It’s very hard making the mouth look natural, in my opinion, and not making the avatar look like a mouth breather. I think, I hope, I managed to make the right tweaks to my face to make this skin attractive. My hair is Bubbles Clawtooth’s newest for Collabor88. I opted for the bright blue color to pop the look, and I fit Mayhem Seetan’s funky, jewel-encrusted headphones from On9 over the hair to just amp up this punk look with Maxi Gossamer’s almost vinyl platter necklace from Collabor88 as accessory. If you’re trying to get into Collabor88, give it a few days.

One more wonderful thing has come up: Thora Charron has made mesh lashes that fit both the LeLutka mesh heads and the system body. I have not tried them on the heads–in order to make lashes work on the heads with the competing makeups, some special things have to happen which I won’t explain here. However they look fabulous with a system head and fit me perfectly with very little editing. Your mileage may vary.

The lover who waits. She bathes, dresses, and listens to the soft music, expecting her lover. Her chosen lingerie is, of course, from Mariska Simons, the queen of lingerie in SL, who is now converting some of her older pieces and making all of her new pieces with appliers. This outfit, which includes appliers for every body you can imagine as well as Omega, is a case in point of sexiness combined with new technology. Paired with Darling Monday’s shoes for the Mix Event, it’s a bold but sexy look. Lounging on Cory Edo’s modernist furniture for Uber makes the wait more comfortable.

Her skin is a combo of Aleida Rhode’s newest skin available at her mainstore with appliers for everything but the kitchen sink with eyeshadows from Izzie Button and lipstick from Carrie Janick. I am kind of digging the ability to mix things up this way on the LeLutka mesh heads, though I will say it was a bigger challenge finding eyeshadows I liked. I loved these dark eyes from Eleri Catlyn for my waiting woman. I wish more creators made darker, rather than lighter, eyes. Thora Charron’s long wavy sexy new hair in a bold color is the crowning touch.

Summer Reading

Summer is a wonderful time to sit down with a good book, especially when it’s hot outside. I remember, as a kid, being in some summer reading contest in the library every year and trying to gobble up as many books as I could. Since these are the hot days of summer, I wear as little as possible and read read read. Today I am out on the beach in a Erratic Rain’s new bikini for Uber, a two piece set fit perfectly to the Maitreya body. Yes, I am wearing ridiculously sexy shoes as well because, well, gotta look good when you’re sunning and this pair from Senzati0n Domenitzo for My Attic, tops the sexy list.

My long hair seems unusually perfect on a breezy beach but this is SL, and fantasies abound. (Like the one about walking through sand in high heels.) Shylah Honey has made this hair exclusively for the Mix Event, which starts on August 1. And I purchased the skin Lumiya Rae is offering at The Lexi Project because it was so gorgeous and came with appliers for LeLutka and Omega. After trying it out on the Leda head, I decided this was the perfect look (especially after squashing my shape head a bit). I added a lighter lipstick by applying Carrie Janick’s lipstick set and then using the head HUD to dial the intensity down, mixing the purple from the original skin and the pink from the lipstick set.

Romantic hair!

I have seen Viking’s hair popping up at other events recently so I was glad to get a chance to see their hair at Hair Fair this year and it was a great experience! Choosing three different asymmetrical styles, Viking showed that hair can have variation, even across a similar shape. First long and straight and tied to the side, then a long braid with a full pouf, and finally curly and sexy dressy hair. My dress is Dead Dollz featured exclusive for The Epiphany. It’s absolutely gorgeous but a bit complicated and costly to obtain. At this gacha event, players play on the machine as usual taking their chance with commons and rares but once they receive their prize they are given 2 options: open the box or redeem it for Epiphany points. (You only get 30 seconds to decide after you wear the box, so be careful to do this when you’re ready to make such decisions.) If they open the box they can keep the item. If they choose to redeem they exchange it for credit and the item disappears. The credits then compound and you can use them to “purchase” exclusive items that will never be sold outside of the event. A no-trans exclusive item costs 25 points; a trans item is 200 points. This dress is an exclusive item.

Bottom line, if you like this dress, you can purchase 25 common items in the gachas for 25-100L each and if you decide to redeem them all, you’ll end up with enough points to get the dress. Purchase the cheapest gachas at 25L each and you can spend 625L or less, if you get some rares to get it, and that’s true of any of the exclusive items. This dress is worth it. I am not sure all the exclusives are. I am guessing for hard core gacha enthusiasts, the ability to redeem points for duplicates will be a boon (and you can carry up to 100 points over to the next round). For those of us who aren’t hard core, well.. meh.

There’s nothing like a cozy, sexy bedroom for a woman in SL. This great bed with color change sheets, pillows, blanket and headboard from JianSL at ROMP has a bunch of sexy animations for bedroom fun. Sway Dench has made a bunch of furniture and accessories in black and white that are EXCLUSIVE for the Mix Event this month so if you want them, get over there (and check their HUD for other great buys).

My sexy corset, which is topless and pantless (which I *mostly* hid) is Iki Akira’s exclusive at ROMP and honestly, it fits great over the Belleza Isis mesh body with few alterations. Sexy bowed platforms from Nardya Rousselot are one of two pairs she is featuring at ROMP and they come in sizes to fit Slink, Maitreya AND Belleza.

I AM wearing the Belleza Isis mesh body. Can’t you tell from my cute little can peeking out from beneath my corset? For matchy match, I have Shyla Diggs’ newest version of Amelia, a lovely lush set of skins she did exclusively for the Mix Event. My long (and modest) wavy hair is Shylah Honey’s newest for the Mix Event, and it comes with all their fantastic colors!
