Mollena

Mollena

Mollena before I met you
I’d always walked the line
I know you’d leave me
If I let you
The blame’s entirely mine
Cause I could fall into a whole world of trouble over you

~ “Mollena” by James Hunter

Mollena

Remember that girl in school who got every boy’s attention just by being who she was—she exuded some energy, some spirit and life that turned boys’ eyes? I knew several girls like this. As years passed, their stories always turned out to be a sad for whatever reason. Despite being able to capture any boy’s attention, they always chose the worst ones—the bad boys—and it always turned for the worse. No one can sustain that kind of energy forever.

My Mollena here is in tribute to the beauty who captured the boys’ attention. All sorts of boys fell into a world of trouble over her. From her slinky tank top from Betty Doyle (a great separate that can span tons of looks—from retro to contemporary) to little black capris from Ivey Deschanel, Mollena has a look that’s rockin’. Accessories from Dick Wiesel (who has this belt out in color change) and Nyte Caligari make the look. And of course, high heels from Teresa Republic turn cute into sexy.

Mollena

The real story here is the skin and hair. First, this skin from Helyanwe Vindaloo is fresh and pretty—youthful but not kewpie-doll. The eyeliners in this series are fantastic—I opted for this modified cat-eye, which looks smokin’ hot without being over made-up on this pale skin. My hair is from Kavar Cleanslate’s newest color set—Evolution. I love how he includes roots with the hair—we all have them as the hair grows out and lightens as it gets long. The style reminds me of that girl in school—she wore it short and feathered and sassy just like this. (She’s divorced with three kids now. *sigh*)

Bohemian Rhapsody

I love the mix and match of SL. We are given several layers, flexis, various attachment points, sculpties, and even color-changing shoes!

Bohemian Rhapsody

The best part is that I can dress as I please every single day. Today I felt bohemian so I mixed and matched an outfit here using elements from fri.day as well as Sari’s. First we have the great short jacket from Darling Monday with its almost retro elements, nicely tailored with a ruffle around the neck (and fits great). Then we have Sari Telling’s funky and fun prints with their Indian influence. I love these pants (though the system piece is no mod—argh—can’t shorten them).

Bohemian Rhapsody

Women all over the grid were heard to squeal when Tricky Boucher announced he was releasing a new skin for women. I, of course, ran post haste to get a few. And was I happy I did. Following on the beauty of his Alyson skin, Elle has a more mature demeanor. No freckles now and a decidedly sophisticated and sexy face.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Finally smexy shoes from nut Barak. What bums me out is that I went to Orange Creations probably a day before these came out. But I won’t complain. The shoes are luscious with beautiful toes (it really is all about the toes) and fashionable styling. I love the zippers in back.

Bohemian Rhapsody

I will say I had a little trouble matching these in world (as usual). I used the setting they told me to use for Belleza’s Elle. I am wondering when skin makers will come out with shoes to match their skins. Would make sense, don’t you think?

Hippie Babe

Is your Valentine a natural girl? You know the one—she eats organic, talks about your aura, smells like patchouli and lavender, drags you to Burning Life, glows with fresh air and sunshine.

Hippy Babe

If this is your girl, then I suggest you get down to AnaLee Balut’s place and find this set, which includes these pretty undies. Flowery but not girly, this is the kind of outfit a woman wears when she wants to let her hair down. Reflecting her love of nature and her slightly batty air, this is for a girl who is earth and air and water and fire all at once.

Hippy Babe

Hanging around our hippie’s neck is a necklace for a cause dear to her heart—Abraxxa Anatine is donating all proceeds from the sale of this beautiful piece and its matching earrings to Haiti. With its native motif and turquoise stones, this jewelry set will deliver your babe to the vortex. Add a feather in her hair from marron Vita, and she’ll be ready to crawl in a tent with you and anoint you with oils (and other stuff).

Holiday

Today I saw a number of friends logged on who are not usually logged on during the work day. Apparently, there is a “holiday” today, which I am NOT celebrating for many reasons, most of them politically correct. However, I have decided this should not preclude me from enjoying some relaxation.

Holiday

So I donned this groovy Hawaiian-inspired dress from marron Vita and ran out to my beach. The sun was just setting when I went outside, so I snapped a photo and then ran off to my studio. This dress has a fantastic texture with just the right amount of 70s brown and mustard. It’s kind of retro in a really wonderful way. And it comes with a hibiscus for your hair.

I wore some flipflops from Detour Sideways—really, who needs anything more? And a little bangle with lily made by SAZAE Yoshikawa for Creamshop finishes it all off nicely.

Holiday

And I have donned hair from Parvarti Monday of fri.day. This cute ‘do comes from their new store where you will find many new styles in the new fashion of wispy hair combined with sculpted prims. Even the naming of the hair colors is fun—notice I have ‘Jaded Blond’ on. Well, I tried ‘Happy Blond’ and ‘Anxious Blond’ and ‘Cranky Brown’ before settling on this color. It’s a practical DSM IV of hair colors!
