Baby’s got all blue, starting with this elegant and sexy mesh dress from NataPorolo for Shiny Shabby that includes a clever fade to translucent hem and a stylish wrapped and ruched bodice. The texture is great and the mesh is nicely rigged. I wore it over the Belleza Venus body after a few adjustments to my shape and it fit perfectly (however notice my thin legs—reduced the muscular setting). I accessorized with Monica Outlander’s lovely pieces for her gacha at Shiny Shabby and slipped on wickedly high and ridiculously sexy shoes from Glamistry that he is featuring at Kustom9 with his incredible texture change HUD.

AtomicSparkle Skytower has been making skins in SL for quite a while and now she is coming up to speed with appliers soon to come out for the Belleza and Maitreya bodies to match her skins and the Slink hands and feet appliers she already has. I tested her Belleza applier and it looks darn good, especially with this gorgeous skin that comes with tattoo makeups so you can switch up your look. My wild hair comes courtesy of Kavar Cleanslate for the Festival of Sin. I used his handy HUD to get a dark hair and then added blue streaks. He has some brilliant mixed color looks and fantasy colors as well. And the aforementioned blue eyes are from Ikon Innovia, his beautiful exclusive for Shiny Shabby with system eyes and his great HUD system for mesh eyes.

Whatever Is Whatever

Thank you, Breezy Luik, for the title! Quite apropos!

It’s one of those weeks. Dashing back and forth, here and there. Half the time I don’t know if I am coming or going. The darling little bicycle carts Trace Osterham made for Arcade are a perfect metaphor for what’s going on with me. One way, Italian ice; the other, cotton candy. Wear it and ride off!

What else do you expect at the beginning of the summer? Flowers need to be planted (the windowboxes are in, by the way), all the classes have to be scheduled, a quick family trip planned, and SL12B is about to open! It’s easy to get around when you’re wearing something cute like this dress from Novery Lorakeet that she has at Shiny Shabby. With Bax Coen’s great little booties, now released in neutrals, it’s a lovely look, especially accessorized with Grazioso Alekseev’s gorgeous glasses (all prims—omg!) and one of Monica Outlander’s hair accessories for the Arcade.

I am wearing one of the LeLutka mesh heads with an applier from Sawsan Secretspy, who has seen fit to bring her artistry to the various faces of LeLutka. With a great hud that offers several eye makeup and lipstick options, the head works perfectly with Sawsan’s skin for the Maitreya body. A cute easy little ponytail from Ikira Frimon for Shiny Shabby and I am ready to go!

This song just won’t leave me alone. It’s lovely and beautiful and sentimental and though the lyrics aren’t the best, the singer makes it work. So I had to use it for this blog, where the dress, from Fashionboi Landar and Justice Topaz, makes it. From the Shiny Shabby event, it’s a perfect mix of silk and girly with a little sexy in the mix. I styled it with applied corset stockings from Moonbubble Gothly, the cute flats from Shaleene Kenin, and a jewelry set from LouLou Teichmann, the latter two from Shiny Shabby as well.

Monica Outlander has released a set of her Sprites for the Arcade, a group of animals she has created from felted wool and crystals and herbs in real life that she has replicated in SL. Darling little animals, cute for decorating your home either singularly or in multiples, especially if you grab the cute shelf she gives for displaying them. My hair is Truth Hawks’ absolutely gorgeous piece for this month’s boho-themed Uber. I love the loose braid, the textures and the darling accoutrement that come with a color change HUD so you can mix them up, or just not wear them. I absolutely love this hair, and I am not usually a braid fan. I am again wearing Sawsan Secretspy’s gorgeous skin for Designer Circle because I felt like I had hidden it behind glasses in my last post and wanted to show how truly pretty it is.

The Christmas Candle—KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 21

The glow of a candle is the warmest sight on a cold dark winter night. Here in the Northern hemisphere, we are coming on our longest night, so a warm light is doubly welcome. I have fun these beautiful holiday lanterns from Winter Thorn to shed light on the beautiful gift that Monica Outlander is giving in the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar. With a mesh bodice that includes materials (hence the light reflecting off) and a great flexi prim skirt, it’s a piece of Miamai couture you can get as the gift for today!

My beautiful illuminated face is Umazuma Metaluna’s lovely gift to her group members. The skin includes teeth, which you can vaguely see behind the lips I added. I never like myself with teeth so I used one of her lipstick tattoos. The eyes are absolutely fabulous and she generously offers it with freckles and, as I show, without. I have one of Mirja Mills’ just-released up-dos she made for MVW, a gorgeous french braided number, just in time for the holidays. And Poulet Koenkamp crafted this spectactular hair piece and earrings for the holidays, which dresses up my look just perfectly, creating a sparkle in the evening darkness.

The new District 5 event is kind of tempting. I have seen some previews of items that will be there and it’s gonna be tough. For example, this mini dress from Cynthia Ultsch comes in several colors and includes a HUD that allows you to change the color of your belt and buckle may times over so you can mix and match it with other looks. Lots of ladies like Cynthia’s work and this is your chance to get it with this versatility built in. The high heels from Sn0b that I am wearing have the same kind of HUD scheme with the ability to switch out colors on separate pieces and even to hide elements of the decoration, like the bows. My awesome necklace is one of Maxi Gossamer’s pieces for FaMESHed and includes her magic texture-switch scripts. Monica Outlander just put out a set of Slink nail appliers that include mesh tattoos. They work with size 10 hands, which mine are not (because that would give me t-rex arms) but are resizable. I chose to forgo the tattoos because the polishes are plenty pretty.

Kavar Cleanslate is selling this lovely hair at Collabor88 this month in his set of fantastic textures. I can see he is attuned to his audience, who wants full locks and a sort of innocent sexiness that comes out from the pinned-aside bangs. My skin is one of Brendon Papp’s glorious new skins on Marketplace, which comes with three eyeliners and five lipsticks and an aetherial style and sublime smile you won’t find with other skins. He has been slowly coming back to SL and offering more and more of his unique style, so keep an eye on him!

A Marriage of Design and Beauty

Monica Outlander, always known for her creativity and fun in SL, has announced the Miamai Luxe Scavenger Hunt, and I have been given the auspicious honor of being one of the bloggers who will be supplying a hint for you. While I won’t just give you the question and answer, I will give you many hints photographically and textually.

This is how it works: The first three people who answer all the questions on the website and submit a notecard to Shae Sixpence will win the entire Luxe Collection, including all the shoes you see in these photos. Every single one for your virtual tootsies. How can you not try?

This is all in honor of the release of Monica Outlander’s new spring collection at Miamai, the Luxe Collection, which includes shoes from her partner, Pill Kanto.  With this “reception,” I wanted to point out how Monica’s work is a marriage of design and beauty and for this collection, it’s a romantic assemblage of the sensual qualities of fabric and clothing with softly-colored, spring textures. The blouse drapes and balloons around the waist, the skirt flows in billows of heavy luxurious fabric. The pieces are mix-n-match so you can wear them with other pieces in the collection or potentially with other creators’ work.

As for our reception, what better place than the Nash Conservatory at Kew Gardens, which Barnesworth Anubis has so faithfully replicated with his Classic Conservatory, which is being sold at Collabor88 this round. The building is perfect for concerts, parties and wedding receptions, as you can see here. I festooned the windows with Maxwell Graf’s mesh drapes and hung Tya Fallingbridge’s gorgeous chandeliers, which she is selling at the Home Show. Froukje Hoorenbeek’s bistro table and vases are perfect for dinner.

That being said, if you look closely, each table has three pairs of shoes, one from each of Pill Kanto’s three different collections, at each table. (All the tables are shown in the photo with all the shoes Pill will be selling, hint hint hint. And yes, they are heavy on style AND land impact I found out, so put them on your feet, not on your land.)

The Seasons Story opened yesterday to great applause and lag so take your time before you run over. It’s open through the end of the month (I think—no dates to be found). Aida Ewing is offering a set of skins derived from her popular new Brandi series, delicate and otherworldly. I top the look with a wavy ‘do from Bubbles Clawtooth and accessorize with gorgeous pieces from Maizon Rayna and a pretty ring from Allegory Malaprop.

The Maiden

I felt like a maiden from a storybook fantasy tale today. It’s probably because of this glorious new mesh dress from Monica Outlander, which comes in a number of colors, but all have the peacock feather insets in the skirt and at the bodice. With her gorgeously drawn shadows, Monica makes a simple mesh silhouette seem complex and lush, tailored with dart seams and insets.

There’s another reason I feel like a fair maiden, and that’s because of the skin I am wearing today. Jade Glazner is releasing this beautiful new skin at Skin Fair 2014. Freya comes in six tones with four brow options and two different cleavage options. Jade is also selling all the standard appliers separately for the skin. She will also be offering a set of dark glossy lipsticks as a gift in her store. (I wore the green for the full-length photos but stripped it off for the close up so you could see the skin in its delicate glory).

My long maiden locks are Tabata Jewell’s newest contribution to the grid. With storybook length and beautiful face-framing qualities, this hair, which comes with one of Tabata’s clever texture-changing HUDs, makes this maiden even fairer.

Deep in the Woods

Enchantment, which is opening on February 1, will be an event taking as its theme “Little Red Riding Hood.” You’d think it would be an event full of baskets and capes, and while there are plenty of those, there is also an undercurrent of resistance to a story of a lovely little girl being tricked by a wolf. First, much of the clothing is less for a little girl and more for a woman, like this gorgeous gown by Monica Outlander. Now, I am not surprised Monica upends the tale of a sweet little girl by turning her into a sophisticated vamp—Monica is never satisfied with the status quo. Her gorgeous Blanchette gown evokes the sleek beauty of its namesake, Cate Blanchett. Monica imbues Little Red Riding Hood with something else with this hooded gown.

Amanda Randall imagines the wolf less as a threat than an accessory with her posing wolf at Enchantment. With six darling poses, you can go from long lean model to besties with the wolf. Maybe “my such big eyes you have” could become friendship or true love….

Then you have Isabeau Baragula’s evocative accessories—bowed Mary Janes and w wearable wolf mask that goes over the face or on top of the head. Is LRRH the victim or the sheep hiding in wolf’s clothing? I love how the headpiece looks as a sort of perverse tiara. Isabeau also sells a horned chair with several great poses, the bowed branch draped with silk (color-change, of course) and a mounted wolf’s head. I think the wolf is in big trouble in Isabeau’s version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Finally, Nina Helix made an exclusive skin for this event—a vamped up Red Riding Hood, and it comes with all the appliers you could need. With dark eyes and a deep deep red matte lip, heavy brows and a very romantic face, this is not your traditional skin. When I first put it on, I had to get used to it but once I paired it with Keiba’s dark eyes, I was enchanted, especially with one of Truth Hawk’s newest hairs in black. Watch out, Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood is out to get you!

An Orchid in the Snow

Monica Outlander recently put on a fashion show of epic proportions with some of her newest Black Label fashions on display. I was not able to go but I understand it was quite something and I am not surprised, because when Monica thinks, she thinks grandly and with sweeping creativity and beauty. She invited many people to participate in The Golden Thread, her show, and asked people to make artistic photos using her Black Label Fashions. I did one for the show but it’s not PG enough for the blog, so you can see it here.

One of the most beautiful pieces from the show was this dress, Shae, which is an absolutely gorgeous mesh assemblage with materials features (see the sheen on the bottom). In this gown, Monica brings romanticism to the modern by using mesh to create folds of brocade and satin and sheer taffeta in a pile up of gorgeous materials. Each detail—from the bead-decorated bodice to the buttons running down the corset to the flowers adorning the hips is attended to with loving care. This is how haute couture is supposed to work—a celebration of the senses and shapes. Monica outdid herself and truly produced a work of art.

The dress suits this new skin from Rocketta Haven. Yes, I showed it yesterday but I have to show it again today because I am absolutely smitten. The delicacy of this skin, the gentle features, the romance of the look deserves more than just a glance. Even the hands are lovely (featuring a nail applier from Sasy Scarborough perfect for the holidays). My side swept hair is MissAllSunday Lemon’s newest release, an almost wind-blown style that echoes the drama of Monica’s dress.

I felt a little melancholy today so I put together this lovely purple look to boost my look and then someone reminded me of that beautiful wistful song by Prince, Purple Rain. Monica Outlander has recently come out with a new gown set which is simple to wear (just two system pieces and two prim parts) but oh-so-lovely. Monica has not given up on the beauty of flexi prims for a full romantic gown, especially since she can do system pieces so well.

I get the privilege of sharing with you a new hair designer—Pollen. She has just started out on Marketplace, and she already shows promise. Completely mesh hair,  this ‘do includes a HUD for changing the tones of the hair and the flowers in the hair. And this piece comes with a free necklace, which matches the flowers in the hair. The side bun is romantic, especially with the optional flowers.

Aida Ewing’s newest skin, Angelica, is the perfect look for this almost ethereal amethyst ensemble. With the lightest of brows for the blonde skin, a gorgeous blush and subtle, glossed lips, this new set will be a welcome addition for Glam Affair lovers and skin wearers around the grid.
