Intelligent Life

With the Brexit vote recently and people still supporting Donald Trump, you really have to wonder if there is intelligent life on this planet. I am guessing another planet hosts smarter (and sexier) beings. My sexier smarter being took a trip to the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, which is the best place to be as it opens today. Mimikri Kit has made this cosmic peekaboo dress in several colors with a matching thong and optional tintable pasties. It is made to fit several mesh bodies and system bodies. Nuria Augapfel has created these amazing shoe/boots for the Fair with a HUD to change the inner portion of the wrap around areas to lace or fishnet.

My inspiration to be alien came from Nethya Emor’s skin featured at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair. With a blue and subtle pink tint to it, it gives an otherworldly look to an avatar. I applied it on the Catwa Destiny mesh head from the Fair (which seems stuck to me now), though it comes with Omega, TMP and many body appliers. I paired it with the darling braids MissAllSunday Lemon is featuring at Uber. They come with a hat that fits perfectly on this hair but it can be worn without (as I show here). Funky earring cuffs from Celena Galli at Cosmopolitan Room finish my look.

Rare–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 1

Today opens the first door to the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, a project I have been working on with my partner, Callie Cline, for my fourth year. Every day from December 1 to December 24, a door on the calendar is opened and an exclusive gift comes out, one per resident, when the door is clicked. Many of the designers are personally KittyCats owners but they were asked to make a gift that anyone could enjoy—not necessarily about KittyCats or cats. So you can be guaranteed the theme will be holiday and the gift will be fantastic. I know I am excited! (Like what kind of great silly gift will Shai make? Will Mariska make something super sexy again? How much glitter will Belle throw at it?) Last year we even won  the “Favorite Holiday Event” for the Avi Choice awards!

Sands Leavitt made this fabulous suit for women to fit several mesh bodies for the androgynous theme for Uber this month, tapping into the idea of the beautiful rarity of the confidently androgyne. With an optional turtleneck “dickie” you can purchase to wear, the suit can serve as formalwear for humans of any and all genders. As usual, Sands lends his professional experience in modeling and texturing to this suit, which is sexy in the best ways. I paired it with Maxi Gossamer’s gorgeous necklace for Uber and stiletto heels from Claire Messenger and Nura Augapfel to up the fierce in my look. A bag from Harry Hyx takes us out for business. And I picked up some great poses from Di Hoorenbeek at Gen Neutral, where you can find great stuff every month.

What makes my beautiful soul a “rare” as well is my beauty’s green and blue eyes, the set part of the gift by Carina Larsen for the first day of the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar. She gives two sets of eyes—one blue and one green—and since they are mesh, I can mix them up, so I did! My hair is the unisex style Carina has created in a wintery, snowy tint, great for a handsome Arctic warrior or our beautiful androgyne. Shyla Diggs’ beautiful new skin for Uber includes chest layers to make the ‘dehance” the breasts. I wore it with the Belleza Isis body, however, so that option is not available on appliers. I did, however, reduce my breast size with my sliders.

I’m feeling a bit wanton these days, imagining spring coming. Datrip Blackbart sent over a collection of body-conscious clothes, and I had to burst out in color and curves to enjoy his fine texture work. He has issued two sets of clothes, one being this catsuit with breast and ass appliers. Click click away and I am sheathed in a tight orange suit, laced up the back, with bodaciousness front and back. I purposefully accessorized with Ariadne Garrigus’ exclusive sunglasses for The Feeling so you were NOT looking at my eyes. Dangerously high platform heels from Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger make my legs impossibly long and of course I have enhanced with breasts from Riann Maltese and athletic legs from CK Winx.

I had to show Shyla Boucher’s Arcade skin again with the lip gloss she sends along with it. It’s the sexiest skin for a look like this, especially with that subtle gloss. Truth Hawks just released this sensuous, wind tossed hair. He is getting better with mesh, the individual strands breaking free to curl and curve around. And my sexiest poses are always the ones from Rogan Diesel.

The phrase “Chercher la femme” came from Alexandre Dumas in his book “The Mohicans of Paris,” and has come to mean that whenever a man acts out of character, it means there is a woman he is trying to impress. Our “femme,” in one of Mami Jewell’s fantastic releases she made for the ladies of the Miss Virtual World (in this case Eva Luxury), is bound to make any man lose his step. With its sexy, dramatic lines and beautiful prim skirts, this is a gorgeous combination of mesh and flexy. Mami has embraced mesh as I knew she would—using it to make her elegant vision rather than letting herself be directed by it.

My beautiful skin is one of the many Shyla Diggs and Tricky Boucher are offering at Collabor88. With ruby red lips and smoky eyes, it’s elegance matches this look. My upswept hair from Mirja Mills is so sophisticated and so sexy. Her hairbase makes the look complete with the twist of the hair going into the mesh. And earrings from AvaGardner Kungler add just enough glitter and shine to lift this look to captivating and dangerous.

I realized I needed to get over this cold thing and SL was the place to do it. Instead of trying to warm up, I just put myself on the flip side—the other side of the planet in Australia, where Christmas is warm and summery. In Australia, I don’t need the boots, the long underwear, the damn hat and mittens. I can wear a short little mini dress and do just fine. This minidress from SamanthaSJones is ideal with red roses and a skirt that’s just up to there, perfect in the holiday heat. Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger’s sexy high heels with a gift-wrapped bow are ideal in green, completing the holiday look. And if you look closely (past my darling bangle from Maxi Gossamer, featured at Collabor88 where everyone is falling into the water because they didn’t reset the tp point), you will see Giela Delpaso’s international-flavored nails, offered as her exceedingly generous Peace on Earth hunt gift. I chose the Australian nails, of course.

Julia Merosi is generously offering this chic and sassy little kittycat necklace as yesterday’s KittyCats Advent Calendar gift and Sileny Noel is offering a set of sexy lined eye makeups (one of which I am wearing) as today’s gift. Home Is Where the Heart Is

For the past couple weeks I have been working hard on things in my RL home—specifically we are redoing the family room in anticipation of four different holiday parties this year. The carpet needed replacing. I had had it with the horrible wallpaper. And we needed some new shelving. The house is a mess because we have displaced everything to get to the walls and floor. But it’s starting to come into focus, slowly but surely. (Check back with me after the carpet is installed!)

Such a project is not so hard in SL, blessedly, especially when you get a beautiful, fully-furnished house like Cain Maven’s latest redo on his Eco design. The Eco III furnished includes a dining room, living room and bedroom set (with some adult poses), art on the walls and decorative plants. Just rez and go.

If you’re feeling like it, you can add your own touches, like this chair from Cory Edo, which is being sold at Collabor88 in a kazillion colors or Lilly Juno’s mid century modern chair (shown below) that includes several gorgeous poses. Lilly is back in SL if you were a fan of Immerse, selling both furniture and clothing.

Spooky Mistwallow has opened a new store called “Mirage” which includes pieces that are influenced by Persian and Arabic arts. Her recent dress, which I am wearing, cleverly uses a Persian rug design with lace added to it. The ladies from N-Core—Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger—are featuring drop dead gorgeous sling backs at FaMESHed in over a dozen colors. These are classics, made to go with several looks, and they match beautifully using N-Core’s web-based color matching system.

I <3 Maxi Gossamer’s jewelry, especially this intricate clockwork heart that Maxi is featuring at Collabor88. The lacey nail appliers from Sasy Scarborough accent the heart ring from Maxi. The full and lush, almost bouffant blonde style from Tabata Jewell suits Aida Ewing’s newest skin, Elvi, in tone and fashionality. And Audrey Lamede’s gorgeous hazel eyes complete the look.

Lou Reed passed away this weekend, so in remembrance of him and with a sad heart for his wife, Laurie Anderson, I quote his famous song “Sweet Jane.” My sweet Jane wears an LBD—“little black dress”—this one from Kim Lysette for Liv Glam, a cute mesh skirt with a cleverly made lace system top with a criss-cross back. A great song for a great look. Starting with this studded nightclub dress from SamanthaSJones (a limited edition so get it quick if you like it), I put together a look that will take me through the speed of dark. I accessorize with Maxi Gossamer’s great jewelry for FaMESHed. I am wearing a pair of Nuria Augapfel’s and Claire Messenger’s great newer shoes. They come with their web-based skin matching system and four versions of the shoe all in one hud—with peep toes and without, with straps and without. These shoes are sex on two legs.

I broke down and got Ava Grau’s fantastic newer skin, which looks fantastic with blonde hair. I love the subtlety of the makeup and the shape of the brows and lips. I have added an eyeliner from Tricky Boucher/Shyla Diggs to dress it up. My gorgeous blonde hair then is Kavar Cleanslate’s contribution for the Arcade, a side-swept wavy mane of hair that flows over the shoulder. Pump a few linden into his machine and see what you get—his textures are always gorgeous.

Before I finish this blog, I want to make a confession. Because of a glitch in the new materials viewing, the shoes by people like Gospel Voom and this great pair from Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger are showing up with a horrible glitch. When the “Advanced Lighting Model” is checked, the alphas blending the ankles of these shoes into the skins of the avatar frame show up dark. In other words, the alphas don’t work. This is NOT a flaw in the creation of the shoes—it’s a viewer problem, based on choices LL made in how the textures render. I can not avoid this problem by turning off Advanced Lighting without losing shadows and all sorts of other depth I enjoy. Therefore I AM touching up the ankles in my ham-handed way on photos in this blog.

I have spoken to Gospel Voom about this in depth. At first, his CS claimed there was nothing he was going to do about it and blew it off but a personal conversation with him gave me a much more satisfactory answer. He will be looking into how to work around the problem but the problem is a thorny one for all creators employing the alpha to blend the ankles. Since I am guessing a lot of people still don’t use Advanced Lighting, I am not going to worry about how I look to others. The work around is turning off the blending for the Gos shoes (which leaves a noticeable-to-me joint) And I will put up with seeing the glaringly obvious stain around my legs for now.

And I confess my touch-up to salve my guilty soul and to help anyone who sees this glitch from going nuts wondering what they could do to fix it as I had.

Looked Over

I never understood why someone would be upset about be examined or being looked at in SL. I have seen the silly prims that cover everything and been asked why I am looking at someone because they can see my crosshairs. Why wouldn’t you want people to look? You are showing an avatar style—isn’t that your intention?

I have no problem with being looked over, today especially. Voshie hand draws her skins, so she is the first person to know the difficulties and art of making great skins. Bliss Couture at Fashion for Life

When Amutey DeCuir happily accepted sponsoring the Entertainment sim—Avedon—at Fashion for Life, we were thrilled. We couldn’t put her store on the sim—it was designated for entertainment and main entry—but she had no problem. She knew that her donation was going to the American Cancer Society, and she wanted to do what she could.

Amutey’s clothing is dramatic and bold sometimes and sleek and sexy other times. She employs bold, sometimes uncommon colors, relishing in the opportunities SL offers for making clothing that is chic and forward.

Amutey’s textures have a sheen that lends a richness to her dresses. Her additional textures—lace or an Asian print or a ruffle or a fur—are what really make her work stand out. Each creation is brand new, considered with careful thought and constructed with clear attention to proportion and silhouette.

Amutey’s participation in Fashion for Life has been a joy. She has been selfless and helpful and lots of fun. She knows this fundraiser is about a serious matter but also realizes that it’s about bringing happiness and joy to the many cancer survivors and cancer patients who rely on the grassroots Relay for Life program from the American Cancer Society to give them community, support and encouragement. Amutey told me many people helped her when she was new to SL and she wanted to give back; by being a sim sponsor at FFL, she’s doing so for thousands of people who are in SL who have been touched by cancer.
