Clown

Sometimes I have to take on a challenge and follow through on it. I won’t specify today’s challenge, but I will lead you to Renee Lowenhart’s blog, Fabfree, for a hint.

Clowns

You know, it’s not easy making a clown skin look sexy but I kind of pulled it off with this sexy little mini and sleeves from Aikea Rieko. Her store is an amazing array of textures on finely made sexy little numbers. It’s hard to choose what you might want because she gives you such a variety. Her system textures are excellently executed; her textures very well drawn. Luckily, she was having a “Black Like My Soul” sale so the choosing was easy. (And I felt very poetic.. and emo.. snatching up all these black items for about two seconds until I got over it with happiness at finding them on sale.)

Clowns

This hair, offered by Elettra Gausman as a dollarbie, is a bright red homage to the glam-style bowl cut. As it’s only one prim, it’s low arc. It looks terrific with this skin from Wynx Whiplash that I have been sitting on for a while, waiting for a good chance to wear it. This was it!

Society Lady

I have a friend in SL who is quite the society man. He told me quite plainly, “Pretty. I like women in hats,” when he saw me in this ensemble. He likes ladies with elegance and intelligence and means, so from him, this is high praise.

Society Lady

The ensemble I am wearing, from maizon Rayna, certainly begs one to think a woman of better means would be wearing it. It’s not only the hat, which is splendid and simple all at once, but also the slim line of the dress, the classic tailoring of the skirt and neckline, and the pure elegance of the whole look.

Society Lady

Nowadays, society ladies are not dowagers—many are young women of means, building on years of social connections through their families’ legacies. We don’t have a big need for that in SL—women in SL work and shop and marry and lead companies and organize events and educate and innovate. Not a lot have a need to carry on the blood line or plan for how to spend their inheritance.

Society Lady

Nevertheless, this is a place of dreams and fantasies, so pretending I am a young wealthy woman is not impossible. I chose Monicuzza Babenco’s beautiful skin to feature in this fantasy. It was a natural with its beautifully rendered eyebrows and aristocratic features. And Tesla Miles’ very high but very classy heels provided the final punctuation to this statement of class.

Pretty in Pink

Everyone has to have that title at some time or another on their fashion blog. But today I am pretty in pink.

Pretty in Pink

I am showing a dress from Nonna Hedges, part of a series she released a few months ago in a flurry of inspiration and productivity. Featuring her signature elegant lacework and full prim skirt, this dress is a delicious delicate pink.

Pretty in Pink

But this blog is really about the jewelry. Tiffy Vella makes some of the most exquisite jewelry in SL—jewelry I would wear in real life if I could get my hands on it (and afford it). Her prim work combined with her textures and colors are out of this world. I can only gaze in awe at a necklace like this.

Tiffy will be having a show at the Shengri-La sims Saturday, October 17 at 7 a.m. slt, called Purple Prose. It’s a static show, hosted by the Fashion Research Institute. You can see the pieces worn live on models and purchase. I encourage you to come. (I will be there, lying on a poseball while I gulp down copious amounts of coffee in RL.)

Pretty in Pink

I dressed this outfit up with hair from Elikapeka Tiramisu. (You find out that showing earrings, etc. requires special hair, poses, etc. It’s all quite a job showing one’s work.) I paired it with this delicate skin from Lorac Farella. I have a set of classics here to highlight Tiffy’s amazing work.

Nonna a Paris

Nonna Hedges is the doyenne of evening dresses in SL. When I first came to SL, a friend of mine took me to her shop and I gasped. Classical music played on the stream, rich woods and silks covered the surfaces, the soft scent of roses and vanilla wafted through the air. I felt like I had entered an exclusive boutique. On the gowns, fine handmade lace covered the bodices, silk with a subtle patina flowed across the gowns.

Nonna’s work has a style like no one else’s–a classical aesthetic rooted in a woman’s intense but banked sexuality. A Nonna woman doesn’t wear bright turquoise, she doesn’t have crunchy curly hair, she doesn’t speak loudly (though she is well-heard). She would never chew gum.

It was with pleasure I received Nonna’s latest creation, perles et dentelle. Nonna has been focusing on Paris lately (as evidenced by her recent store remodel, which features a large version of her Eiffel Tower necklace draped over the walls of the store). Details is the name of her store, and for Nonna it’s all about the details, from the pearl necklace and belt to the barefoot prim shoes (which I don’t show here, but they come with the outfit).

This piece was inspired by her dreams of Paris with it’s subtly pink/pearl lace (notice the ribbon detail finishing off the neckline and sleeves) and its cocoa satin skirt. Finishing off the skirt is a beautiful gradient prim kickpleat. Notice the crinkled rosettes at the shoulders, the pearled belt with the gold buckle, and the prim laces tied criss-crossed and tied in back..

Red Velvet

Winter Jefferson, blogging vampire and tireless organizer of Swansong, whispered in my ear the other night that he had seen the perfect gown for me. Winter doesn’t realize my inventory is FULL of the gowns “perfect for me”—about 450 of them. (Don’t ask…) But, still, hope springs eternal, so I went to check it out.

When I teleported into Black Swan, I saw what he saw. Redheads CAN wear red and THIS redhead loves to wear red. Tabitha Ninetails of the Dancing Academy has outdone herself with this elegant evening gown. From the cleverly constructed décolletage to the careful and beautiful rendering on the system pieces, I can feel the rich fabric lying on my skin, the open back and exposed shoulders caressed by the air, the heavy skirts swirling around my legs with each step. I feel elegant and regal. Winter was soooo right.

Red Velvet

I have topped this ensemble with Sky Everett’s Reign in red and a cute pair of earrings Nonna Hedges just sent through that I imagine she has made in Maya. Little diamond-studded Eiffel Towers add a little something different to the ensemble. They aren’t your mother’s pearl studs.

Red Velvet

Maitreya’s elegant and sexy Verve pumps complete the outfit.
