Getaway with Santa

Rumor tells that Santa goes to an undisclosed beach after the holidays, away from all the noise and commotion of Christmas, a beach without the surfeit of sugary cookies and room temperature milk, tomes of lists, and cranky ankle-biting elves. I think Santa needs to reserve a spot on his sleigh for me to join him this year.

If I went, and that’s a big if, I would be certain to pack lightly. A bikini, some sunscreen, sandals, and my iPad. Santa can supply the rest. The bikini that would go with me would be monica Outlander’s sexy one-piece with sequins (clearly not meant for swimming). For seeing and being seen, it’s the perfect tiny piece of material.

My skin will be Mallory Cowen’s newest with its luscious sun kissed glow and sexy sensual body. My hair? A gift Queue Marlowe gave out to her group for the holidays—a great pulled-back ponytail with her wonderful matching hair bases.

And my shoes will be these great new sandals from Oct Oakleaf. With their pretty little toes, beautiful decorative gems, and versatile hud, these sandals will complete my look with the kind of dazzle Santa appreciates.

Good as Gold

You know how some women just exude sexy? How they just give off that aura and you feel compelled by it. These are rare women–smart, confident, and independent—and that’s what makes them so sexy. But let me tell you something: some of it is attitude and some of it is studied attention to the details. The designers I am showing you today make the elements that make a sexy woman stand out.

First there is the dress from Moxie Polano. One heck of a sexy woman herself, Moxie has a good idea what will make a woman appear hot without looking hot to trot. With a skirt cut high in front but low in back with sensuous golden flexis swaying around the legs, this dress entices with its sexy satin halter.

Then I have this absolutely delicious skin from Tuli Asturias. I show Tuli’s work a lot. It suits me and gives off the right, more sophisticated look for my tastes. And it exudes sexiness without looking jailbait lookalike or used and rough around the edges or snooty alienish.

Truth Hawks keeps putting out this wavy sexy bedroom hair, to the delight of women all over the grid (and their lovers). I hope Truth never finds a comb.

Finally, the toes. I know, you keep hearing about the toes. I had a little *cough* moment of weakness in Nardya’s store and kind of fell in love with everything, it seems. So you see these saffron sandles with their heart breakingly sexy sole and toes and bows in the back. And damn, do they complete this outfit or what?

Red Nails

Someone has been bothering me about my lack of red hair lately, so here it is. The whole blog is based on the color red, in fact, because I recently got my RL toe nails painted OPI Red, and I am delighted. (It’s the small things in life, it really is.)

I start with a dress from Neferia Abel’s new summer collection. Neferia is a veteran designer in SL—her textures are elaborate, artistic and fashionable. Her designs are well-informed both from RL fashion history and from practiced SL design. This dress is a festive party dress, sexy and pretty. The red accents work perfectly to give the black and silver print pop.

I wear a pretty red-bowed hair from Truth Hawks. (Here is the red hair, darn it!) And red lipsticked skin from Tuli.

Finally, the centerpiece of this whole article, these TOES. Nardya Rousselot has outdone herself with a new set of prim toe shoes that have gorgeous toes. I am fussy about my prim toes. Some are too thin, some are too piggy, some are just unrealistic. Nardya’s are pretty and well shaped with lovely nail colors. This pair of shoes comes from a collection that has the most amazing flowered and solid textures on a very sexy strappy silhouette. I may end up getting the whole fat pack AND the special extra toenail hud Nardya sells. I have found my new addiction.

I’m Like a Rare B-Side

Sometimes my SL is a kind of.. uh.. interesting. I mean, where else could I turn into a tiny, live in a huge Tuscan villa, or be interviewed on TV? Today I had the privilege of being on Designing Worlds with Saffia Widdershins and Elrik Merlin. Thank you for inviting me to speak.

Of course I had a quandary.. the ever-important problem popped up. What to wear? I chose to go casual. I had finally gotten out shopping and wanted to show off some of my pretties. Take, for example, this cute top Zaara Kohime featured as a Dressing Room item. I have the whole outfit in another color, but this alone is an ideal piece.

I wear it without the bikini top option here. These terrific jeans are from Janie Marlowe, who is sadly closing her store, Mischief, soon but only to open something new and more exciting, she says. A veteran of fashion in SL, Janie made some of the first and best casuals in the grid. Now she has it all on sale at great prices. Get over to Mischief as soon as possible to pick up the deals, including these great jeans.

This hair is one of those OMGs. Made by Kin Keiko (who has made a few of my other favorite short hairstyles), this pixie is ideal. I had to do a little adjusting to the hair, but I am not concerned. When you place the prims this close to a head, all those sliders on a shape can make a huge difference. (That’s why there is not more MEN’s hair, guys. You all want to be eggheads or blockheads or chin-heavy and then suddenly the tolerances for the prims gets out of whack.) Kin has lovely textures, a real sense of body and style to this hair. A def fat pack for me.

Summer Dancing

Last night found me “stuck” (yeah.. stuck because the music was so good) at SL7B listening to the infamous Bradley Gazov doing his great blues set, away from Hotlanta.

I wore a cute outfit for my night out. First a top from Delora Starbrook, pretty and sexy all at once, very well drawn in a beautiful color. Then shorts from Barbra Kungler with cute little sculpty cuffs. And pretty bangles from kikunosuke Eel.

Finally new hair AGAIN from Truth Hawks. This one has streaks—I am totally digging these streaks! (They are subtle today—I used dark blonde.) And the shape of this hair is sexy! Finally wedges from J’s. I can’t day enough about these shoes and their pretty toes. They are so versatile, so chic and up-to-the-moment, and so sexy. Thanks to all these great creators, I looked great at SL7B!

Sometimes you just gotta strut around the grid in a short short skirt and show your assets.

Check out this sweet little number from sachi Vixen, the queen of the original avatar (because she and her partner Damen made most of the avatars newbies get today and they are a vast improvement to what we had back when I started). With a professional doing the work, we see the great shadowing and wrinkles, the rich color, and the fine details of the lace on the bodice and in the flirty prim skirt.

Then add to it this full and gorgeous hair from Queue Marlowe, the woman who is known for her ubiquitous lush and loopy locks. Add to it a glowing skin from Tuli Asturias that makes all the boys look (check out those legs)!

And finally, these must-have killer sandals by Anubis Hartunian, who offers quite a number of chic and sexy prim toe shoes at her store. (Check out the design on these. Rowr!)

Casual Blonde

Summer weekends are so easy. Throw on a top, jeans, sandals, put a pin in your hair, all set. It’s a good time to count blessings, to be grateful for what we have rather than what we don’t have.

In this case I have a new top and new capris. The top, from LeeZu Baxter, comes in sheer and opaque, but I chose sheer, because she has made the color so beautifully delicate, especially as it is draped at the decollatage. It’s a t-shirt, yes, of the silkiest sheerest material. I wear it over a bra from 5th and Oxford—a chic, sexy look that suits. The capris are well-drawn system pieces from Babyhoney Bailey. This is avatar fashion at its essential—no prims, no gimmicks. Babyhoney’s work stands the test with great seams, wrinkles, colors and a nice round booty.

My ‘do is a new one from Truth Hawks with his ingenious streaks. I have subtly applied white streaks to this delicious champagne for that sun-kissed look. Tuli Asturias gives me a healthy glow with one of her new Jade skins.

Queen

Ever meet a woman with magnificence? It’s the only word I can think of—magnificence. She’s a queen. She’s strong, quiet, commanding.

I found the outfit for such a queen at Isaura Simon’s store. With her beautifully drawn textures (especially the gems wrapping around the torso and the motif gem piece), Isaura knows how to dress a powerful woman. Her garments say she owns this place. This ensemble comes complete with the staff which has a mini AO built in that includes poses such as the one you see above.

Isaura carefully constructs her skirts with tiered prims and a close-up look will show gems falling off the shoulder pads—an incredible touch. Her system pieces are clean—no ghosting and a very gently rendered drop shadow to give more depth to the piece. The bra and panties underneath include a brilliant sparkling texture. It all works.

I wear hair from Sky Everett. Sky has been quiet as of late—producing but not spending a lot of time in SL, it seems. We miss you Sky :( Isn’t this hair magnificent?

I forewent the shoes sold with the outfit to go with some wonderfully detailed shoes from Rosie Lavochkin. Not only did Rosie include the signs of the zodiac across the main strap, but she imprints the big toenail with a gem and builds a shoe that is sexily strappy. (Check out the swirly on the heel.) These shoes are for women who mean business.

Bring It On!

The warm weather I mean. Maybe a pretty little summer dress will hasten the sunshine and warmth.

This darling ensemble from cyam Crystal might bring the sun out. The two pieces are sold separately so you can mix and match. I really love the tied shirt with its cheerful floral print and cute casual tie. The dress has a lovely eyelet skirt and a typical sweetheart neckline bodice.

I accessorized with some turquoise treasures in my inventory—bangles from Eolande Elvehjem and earrings from Jon Ree—both made and textured beautifully. (If I could have a more extensive jewelry collection in RL, they would both contain pieces like this.) A loose and lovely hair from Parvarti Monday tops me off, blonde and carefree.

My sexy shoes are from Maris Kanto. I have seen shoes very much like these walking around the pages of In Style and I love them. The stitching and studs make them somewhat ethnic/hippy without losing their high heel appeal. And Maris, as always, includes his fantastic skin-matching and color-choosing HUD. One of the best on the market.

Sun and Sand

It’s cold and rainy outside. It’s time for a trip to the beach.

A perfect outfit for this fantasy is Opal Lei’s new bikini and sarong set. Known for her beautiful mermaids, Opal has tried to emerge from the water and put her beautiful textures on humans too. She has done a darn good job. In this set, she provides both a Merkini and a Bettakini (you see the Merkini here). Merkini has a simple scale texture while Bettakini has a fin texture overlaid on the scale texture. Both come with the package so you can choose what you prefer. The colors are rich, the work impeccable.

I wore a bikini actually to show off my beach skin, a new one from Aradhana Voight. Known best for her beautiful saris and elaborate Indian-influenced jewelry, Aradhana has ventured into the skin trade and her gifts serve her well here. I will say I tried several hairs with these skins and opted for one of Truth Hawk’s darker colors—Aradhana’s skins need the deeper color to match the dark eyebrows and make-ups. Make sure you find Aradhana’s store on the New Delhi sim, which she is generously sponsoring for the RFL Clothing Fair, starting March 13. Make it worth her while and pick up a few of her gorgeous skins. I include pretty jewelry from Narita Rayna, being sold at this year’s Accessory Fair.

Finally take a look at my tooties. Maris Kanto has come out with another pair of gorgeous toe shoes with their versatile huds for changing the color of 3 different elements of the shoe, the skin, and the nails plus the hardware. They do everything but dance for you!
