The sims at Fashion for Life are all about travel, so of course some of the designers jumped in. Nancoix Urquan chipped in to the theme with a set of poses complete with a suitcase prop that has texture change. Of course, everyone is taking photos on Troy Vogel’s sim with this set because it’s so perfect. Troy built the sim despite a personal RL move, and I love him and his bears to pieces for his generous contribution to Fashion for Life.

Sysy Chapman has always been a big supporter of Fashion for Life as well, and she is offering this great dress in several version with a portion of each sale going to Relay for Life/American Cancer Society. With her great bright textures and sexy silhouettes, she makes my travelling girl look fresh and sexy. With little espadrilles from Freya Olivieri and jewelry from JuneMonteiro and Moonsoul, I have Fashion for Life covered.

Don’t you hate the women who come off the plane looking fresh and rested, not a crumple in their clothes, not harried or tired? That would not be me. I would be the one posing on the tarmac and missing my connection regardless of how great I look. My skin from Inka Mexicola gives me that tan traveled look with a high-fashion makeup for glamorous traveling. A piece of a hot poem for a hot look. (Oh gosh I love this poem from Kevin Young.) I went over to the Dark Style and picked up some sexy items including this lingerie from Tatyana Ultsch, who includes appliers for top and bottom, though I only used the top on my mesh boobs from Riann Maltese. (I think my bottom is fine enough as is.) Sexy shoes from Promagic complete the look over Slink feet.

My skin is one of Shyla Diggs’ lovely makeup looks on Tricky Boucher’s base. Love the details of the body, especially that lovely butt and the hip bones. My hair is Mirja Mills’ beguiling retro style for My Attic.

If I am looking a bit more voluptuous, I am in this outfit. I think to balance a big top, a woman needs the bod to hold it all, including a bigger waist and bigger hips. This look is luscious and sexy and absolutely smokin’ without being exaggerated or cartoonish. (Hint: a little fullness to the belly and butt adds to the plush.)

The Red Room

He pulled me close, and I gasped. Beneath his impossibly long lashes, Tristan Grape’s hooded dark searing eyes scanned me. “Before I kiss you with my hot lips, I must ask you, Harper, have you finished your blog entry?”

I dropped my eyes in shame, heat filling my face as I turned 50 shades of red in embarrassment. “I… I did not, Tristan. I was having problems with fitted mesh and my boots needed refitting and I kept losing a hand when I put on my hair and I crashed 20 times.” I shuddered at the memory of adjusting the skybox and testing the windlight with 50 shades of blue density.

He sighed. “You know what this means, Harper?”

I blinked. “I lost my Flickr Pro privileges?”

He shook his head solemnly. “No, it means you must go to the Red Room.” When he said “Red Room,” I heard an echo as if he had turned on his voice morph in SL. My heart fluttered. Now I would know about Tristan’s Red Room, that forbidden skybox of pain and pleasure, that mesh enclosure of virtue and vice, that mysterious cube in the sky made by Niemack Saarinen that took only 32 prims on his spacious Homestead. I was going to enter the forbidden zone!

He rezzed a chaise from Rogan Diesel and after I clicked through several poses, finding a comfortable position, he moved me up into the skybox. Where I waited. And waited. I fluffed my mesh skirt from Ivy Burner and checked the buttons straining on the leather vest, hoping I showed some Rock Attitude. I retied the laces on my boots from Circe Ishtari and admired their shiny materials-ready texture. I readjusted my fishnets from Bax Coen and clicked my nail HUD to try all 12 colors (not 50 shades but come on, it’s only 5L!) from Giela Delpaso’s generous applier for the Runway Perfect Hunt. Twisting my heart-shaped ring from Maxi Gossamer that I just got at FaMESHed, I clicked the light fixtures on and off… on and off… on and off.

Wisps of my straight asymmetrical hair from M4ri1yn Magic floated against my cheek. I checked all 50+ shades of hair M4ri1yn offers on his HUDs while I waited. I admired my spanking new skin from Shyla Diggs (pun intended), enjoying the vibrant makeups and her beautiful features. (I am so glad Shyla is back!) I clicked some more, changing the color of the stones in my heart-shaped pendant from Maxi Gossamer. Click… click… click. I sighed. Click… click… click. As I waited, my heart beat faster and faster in anticipation of what would happen in this red room.

And then I saw something that made my heart stop:

I’m feeling a bit wanton these days, imagining spring coming. Datrip Blackbart sent over a collection of body-conscious clothes, and I had to burst out in color and curves to enjoy his fine texture work. He has issued two sets of clothes, one being this catsuit with breast and ass appliers. Click click away and I am sheathed in a tight orange suit, laced up the back, with bodaciousness front and back. I purposefully accessorized with Ariadne Garrigus’ exclusive sunglasses for The Feeling so you were NOT looking at my eyes. Dangerously high platform heels from Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger make my legs impossibly long and of course I have enhanced with breasts from Riann Maltese and athletic legs from CK Winx.

I had to show Shyla Boucher’s Arcade skin again with the lip gloss she sends along with it. It’s the sexiest skin for a look like this, especially with that subtle gloss. Truth Hawks just released this sensuous, wind tossed hair. He is getting better with mesh, the individual strands breaking free to curl and curve around. And my sexiest poses are always the ones from Rogan Diesel.

My quote is sent out to a friend who has received some bad news, and I want to give him some encouragement. It feels like there is a lot of bad news we receive from friends in SL but the truth is that if we appreciated what we have more, we would *hear* the good news too. The other night a friend who has not been on SL for a while logged on and had the BEST news for me. He had met a beautiful woman in RL and they had gotten married. He spammed me with wedding photos and gosh he was right—she IS beautiful.

None of that is pertinent to this look except the cheer I wish to evoke with the look. Paul Lapointe and Bastchild Lotus have come out with a new leather jacket that can have the tank top or not. Both have color-change HUDs and of course, the colors are coordinated with their other pieces, so I wore their more recent skirt release with its absolutely fabulous tushie. (Paul, please consult the mesh ass people and show them how to do it?) The textures are typical L&B—lush, nuanced, perfectly shadowed and tangible. I want to run my hands all over myself just looking at this jacket. And the snakeskin top is amazing. Add great capris from Ivy Burner (who is also a mistress of texture), gorgeous jewelry from Maxi Gossamer, and funky stilettos from NikkiIrene and I have a great look!

I couldn’t help but put on Queue Marlowe’s whimsical hair from Collabor88. As a friend said, How does it do that? Queue won’t do something unless it’s fun and doesn’t let a bad day EVER get her down, which is why it’s always good to have her around, even if it’s in her hair. My skin is Peachiemuah’s newest doll skin with dimples, soft features and pretty eyes. A touch of lipstick from Mocksoup Graves brightens the natural-toned face. Peachiemuah’s skins come with appliers, so you can wear your Slink hands and feet as I did.

Finally, a shout out to my pal, Rogan Diesel, who has finally given us some more girl poses. Keep it up, sunshine!

I realized I needed to get over this cold thing and SL was the place to do it. Instead of trying to warm up, I just put myself on the flip side—the other side of the planet in Australia, where Christmas is warm and summery. In Australia, I don’t need the boots, the long underwear, the damn hat and mittens. I can wear a short little mini dress and do just fine. This minidress from SamanthaSJones is ideal with red roses and a skirt that’s just up to there, perfect in the holiday heat. Nuria Augapfel and Claire Messenger’s sexy high heels with a gift-wrapped bow are ideal in green, completing the holiday look. And if you look closely (past my darling bangle from Maxi Gossamer, featured at Collabor88 where everyone is falling into the water because they didn’t reset the tp point), you will see Giela Delpaso’s international-flavored nails, offered as her exceedingly generous Peace on Earth hunt gift. I chose the Australian nails, of course.

The Temptation

I have temptation on the mind today because I recently made toffee bars with two sticks of butter and whole lot of brown sugar and chocolate and they kept beckoning me with their rich sweetness. I finally sealed them up in a container and shoved them in the freezer for Christmas but now the scemt of decadence lingers around me. Today I am show you an evening dress from Ariadne Garrigus that is itself pure temptation with its slim silhouette (belying my toffee bar binge), sequined hem and leg cut-up-to-there-and-then-some. With a simple bodice, the dress is all about that leg, and the leg shows off whatever fabulous shoes you happen to have.

In my case it’s a pair of high high heels from Siddean Munro. With an impossibly sexy wrap-around style and heels that are higher than high, these shoes are temptation itself. What is tempting is to go off and buy every shoe ever made for the Slink feet (every shoe that isn’t overpriced, that is) because you can look so gorgeous. These are Siddean’s newest shoes on her newest feet—a super high heeled foot that truly is designed for shoes only (you’d look funny wearing them separately). Siddean is selling them at Shoetopia but if you can’t get in or can’t see when you get there, she’s going to have them in her store.

Sawsan Secretspy keeps putting out gorgeous skins. I am wearing Donna, one of her newest skins and I love the eye makeup, especially the way it looks with Audrey Lamede’s group gift Portrait Eyes. AvaGardner Kungler is fulfilling her desire to be a jewelry maker in SL and shows us another of her beautiful designs with these earrings she is featuring at L’accessoire. And my girl, Queue Marlowe, has just issued another set of gorgeous hair using her HUD system. This beautiful romantic style is perfect for a tempting look like this one—full locks, curls and a romantic up-do.

The Serpent

Bax Coen has just released her new thigh high boots, based on the latest technology she has exploited to create a boot that doesn’t need an in-world staff to fit. Her “Collision Bone Deformer” allows the boots to fit to your avatar, adapting to slider changes. (I am proof because my legs are often too muscular for many mesh products—these fit me like a skin.)

She has also included materials textures on the boots so you can see sheen and surface details. I have featured a video about materials that explains what they are. Most people don’t get it until they see it.

The best part is the boots are mesh, which means they move with you. Bax has been very careful in making these boots. A peek to the inside shows she has textured the upper lip. The boot bends naturally around the calf and knee so you don’t see the ungainly bending that is clear on so many mesh pieces that go over joints. Most people won’t notice this, but it’s a design marvel. They’ll just see how hot they look.

My serpent friend is Rogan Diesel’s offering for this month’s Collabor88. With three color options for the snake and 10 different poses with snakes wrapped around the torso, it’s a hot posing accessory. Even more convenient, the snake rezzes separately from the avatar, so you can use this snake for your self or others.

I am wearing a glittery bikini from One Bad Pixel’s recent release. With sexy side ties and a shimmering texture, it’s a snake handler’s dream, especially when set against the glimmer of a serpent. Jay Z, the rap star, the husband of Beyonce and daddy to Blue, is not just a rapper, entrepreneur, record producer, and rich man—he’s also an art collector. Recently he decided to do his own form of performance art called “Picasso Baby” at the Pace Gallery in New York. I first read an article about it in Vulture by Jerry Saltz and then found the video a couple weeks later. The critic, Jerry Saltz, loved it. “Maybe I was smitten by fame. I stayed for just about the whole six hours, and all I can say is that I don’t think I saw one instance where Jay-Z was not totally there, in the moment, working the energy.”

I was impressed by his summary: “I went in doubting. I left elated.”

That has nothing to do with what I have on except the idea of energy, giving and getting. The article said Jay Z would not put up with schmaltz—he wanted genuine energy and he fed off it for his performance. I really liked that idea. When I see stuff I want to blog, I am looking for that authentic energy… and joy in creation. Ariadna Garrigus continues to produce joyful work, it seems to me. This nightclub dress—translucent with shimmering silver stitchwork—is a case in point. She pushes her expertise with mesh by making this body-conscious see-through piece with matching mesh panties.
