Shiny Shabby’s next round opens today and it’s, as you can see, chock full of Boho goodness. If you are a fan of a gypsy soul, then you will score at this event as I did. First you have the wonderfully textured and meshed jacket from Rucy Byron, a piece that comes in several neutral tones that all look like fine suede so you can mix it with other pieces. It also includes an undershirt, but I chose to go with a tank from LacunaInc, carefully fitting it under the jacket and over my mesh body (which is mostly alpha’d out—go figure). I matched it to one of Sissy Pessoa’s fabulous maxi skirts, the entire set in many colors but also with great leathery/suede textures and a lace inset. I matched up the look with a handbag from the UnitedColorsTeam which is rigged mesh, so grab a demo before buying to see if it fits you as you like. I accessorized with a great necklace from Maxi Gossamer for Fameshed.

Gypsy Soul

Skin Fair is still going strong, and Inka Mexicola is one of the sponsors of the Fair, so it’s a double treat because you get several of Inka’s newest skins exclusively. I like Inka’s line because she includes appliers for everything, including the Belleza mesh body, which many creators have forgone because of the different UV maps on the hands and feet. Inka, with true skill, managed to create the applier for this body as well as others like the Maitreya, and she includes a great choice of brows and a set of beautiful lipsticks.

Mina Nakamura is also participating in Shiny Shabby this round with a great hair with a bandana that also includes your choice of textures on her handy HUD. And I had to show Kunst Himmel’s rugs again because I am totally hooked on them (no pun intended). Rugs always seem to be my final choice to pull an interior look all together, and I will be using this set of rugs over and over in my decorating. It’s worth a few pulls of the gacha!

Lily

“The noble buoyancy of her attitude, its suggestion of soaring grace, revealed the touch of poetry in her beauty that Selden always felt in her presence, yet lost the sense of when he was not with her. Its expression was now so vivid that for the first time he seemed to see before him the real Lily Bart, divested of all the trivialities of her little world, and catching for a moment a note of that eternal harmony of which her beauty was a part.”

~ Edith Wharton, The House of Mirth

Lily

I dressed up for a wedding a few days ago and I was so pleased with my look I had to share it. I named this look “Lily” after the character in “House of Mirth,” because the quote spoke to me. With a beautiful mesh dress from Sissy Pessoa, I was elegant and dressed well without outshining the bride, who was resplendent in white. I loved the bronze tone in the dress and the lush texture Sissy gave to the mesh. I wore lovely shoes from Senzati0n Domenitzo and Maxi Gossamer’s newest set for FaMESHed, a gorgeous pearl set that includes texture change for the color of the pearls and the metal.

Lily

Sawsan Secretspy’s glorious skin from the Hipster Fair was a great look for this bronze dress. And a gorgeous braided updo from Mirja Mills (thank god someone is doing them because it’s getting near-impossible to find new updos anymore) made my look complete. Congratulations, Etrone and Jayci. May your partnership in SL be happy and long lasting.

Bored

Bored

Life, friends, is boring. We must not say so.
After all, the sky flashes, the great sea yearns,
we ourselves flash and yearn,
and moreover my mother told me as a boy
(repeatingly) “Ever to confess you’re bored
means you have no

Inner Resources.” I conclude now I have no
inner resources, because I am heavy bored.
Peoples bore me,
literature bores me, especially great literature,
Henry bores me, with his plights & gripes
as bad as Achilles,

who loves people and valiant art, which bores me.
And the tranquil hills, & gin, look like a drag
and somehow a dog
has taken itself & its tail considerably away
into the mountains or sea or sky, leaving
behind: me, wag.

~ “Dream Song 14” by John Berryman

Bored

Let me say right off, I am NOT bored. Not with SL or what I am showing. I am merely amused today with John Merryman and had to share this poem, which always appealed to me. Whenever someone pipes up in Skin Addiction that they are bored, I always say something like Merryman’s mother. Then I suggest they go out and about in SL or else log off and find a good book to read. There is so much to explore in this world!

I like running around the grid in something kind of non-themed and cute so entrance into any adventure is guaranteed. This gorgeous new dress from AvaGardner Kungler is a great pick because it combines pattern with solid, an all-in-one that can get you from needing a skirt to prancing around a garden. I love the Mary Janes Sissy Pessoa is selling at FaMESHed with texture-change socks. Her mesh is well-proportioned and as with everything Sissy does, beautifully textured. I am sure these shoes are going to show up again on my feet. When I go out and about, I make sure I carry my inventory in a big bag (because it’s big) and this almost-free bag from Temperance Snoodle does the trick.

Bored

Circe Ishtari of Tokyo Girl had backed off making skins for a time. She hand-draws them, which is time-consuming for her and with RL things going on, she wasn’t finding the time. She followed her muse with several hair releases and mesh fashions. But she is back, gloriously, at Skin Fair 2014 with three new skins, one of which is the one I am showing. Available in five tones with appliers for boobs and butt (but not hands or feet, regrettably), all three of the skins include a makeup and natural version. I topped my look with M4ri1yn Magic’s darling top knot from the Attic, available with his awesome textures via HUD, which one can click around to test looks to avoid boredom. Love the wisps! (There’s my next suggestion when someone says they are bored—”Go click something!”)

Bored

“I’m bored’ is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you’ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored.” ~ Louis CK

Fierce Female

Fierce Female

“I’ve often thought it unfair that women are expected to stay at home when there’s a fight to be won. If a woman has the strength to bear a child, she can swing a sword as well as any man.” ~ Karen Hawkins

Fierce Female

Fierce women do exist. In fact, they outnumber the fierce men! Spooky Mistwallow just came out with this dress for her RP line, Mirage, and I put it on and felt my woman warrior emerge. Yeah, I know a warrior needs to be shielded and covered but this one is so lithe and fast she can fly through the air and get out without damage. The textures on the dress are so lush, especially the gold embroidery at the hem and bodice and the shape is sexy and my girl can be sexy and strong all at once.

Knee-high tie-up gladiator heels from Harry Hyx make the look even fiercer and sexier especially with serpent arm bracelets from Sissy Pessoa. I ran to the I Love Role Play gachas get gorgeous eyes from Filomena Quinnell and a raid horn from Thord Karu. I lucked out on my first try with both! And yes, fierce women can wear nail polish on their fingernails and toes—this one of Zozicon’s latest with beautiful spring textures and colors from the Pre-Release Gacha Garden.

Fierce Female

My skin is PeachieMuah’s latest for her doll series. I can imagine this skin could be a perfect doll-like skin on a different shape but on mine it turns out to be a little more sophisticated, despite the dimples. I love the liner around the eyes and their shape with well-groomed brows and a slight blush. My hair is a two-piece mesh beauty from Morphine Janick. I love the blonde texture and having it in two pieces allows the option to not wear the braid and just have the wind blown look.

I Wanna Be Evil

I Wanna Be Evil

I’ve posed for pictures with Iv’ry Soap
I’ve petted stray dogs, and shied clear of dope
My smile is brilliant, my glance is tender
But I’m noted most for my unspoiled gender

Prim and proper, the girl who’s never been kissed
Well, I’m tired of being pure and not chaste

Like something that seeks its level
I wanna go to the devil
I wanna be evil, I wanna spit tacks
I wanna be evil, and cheat at jacks
I wanna be wicked, I wanna tell lies
I wanna be mean, and throw mud pies

I wanna be evil, little evil me
Just as mean and evil as I can be

~ “ I Want to Be Evil” by Eartha Kitt

I Wanna Be Evil

I wanna be evil and the best way to be evil is to be deadly beautiful. With one of Mami Jewell’s newest gowns, I am wicked in the sexiest way. Mami has embraced mesh and brought her lush textures to a medium that is crowded with less-than-ideal artwork. She has also done what I love seeing designers do—mixing prims and mesh—this time with a feathered collar to create a dramatic, face-framing shape and beautiful satin flexi prims on the bottom for movement and elegance. Everything this gown is dramatic but not overstated.

I Wanna Be Evil

My vampiress look is achieved from several elements. First, Aida Ewing featured the Lucy skins a few weeks ago and with their “snow” complexion and very subtle brows and lips contrasting with a dark dark eye, they are perfect for this gorgeous specter. I found fangs from Sissy Pessoa were a perfect tattoo overlay—not too overt and elegant. And Carina Larsen’s white, elegantly rolled up-do is the epitome of restrained refinement that our cold-blooded beauty needs.

A Bright Summer Day

A Bright Summer Day

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

~ Mary Oliver in “The Summer Day”

A Bright Summer Day

What are you doing with the beautiful days of summer? Every day I get up and try to get out and see something, do something, experience something–going to the farmer’s market, knitting with friends, sitting on the beach enjoying the lake. And in SL I am doing the same thing–venturing out again–dancing, sailing, shopping, and making new friends.

A new friend I made decided to introduce me to an old friend of his and took me to her store. I already knew of her because she was one of the great designers who participated in Fashion for Life, but I was glad to have another opportunity to check out her store. AmySue Shirakawa has been in world for 4 years, running her business and making sporty, sexy apparel for women across the grid, all reasonably priced. Take this cute dress, for example—a summertime confection. With its very pretty print and great cut, it’s ideal as a sundress for hot summer days. I love the sheerness of the skirt and that pattern on the hem. She includes a hat with color-changing hair AND shoes with this, but I opted to match this with new wedges from Pixieplumb Flanagan.

A Bright Summer Day

I have donned Sissy Pessoa’s newest skin release, a beautiful porcelain skin with beautiful makeup. Most in the set are a bit more muted than this makeup but it’s so colorful and perfect for this summery ensemble. The body is well defined with a great décolletage and really nice legs. I wore it over a willowy shape from Sophia Rossen. Sissy’s skin fit perfectly to Sophia’s well-done shape.

I paired it with one of Kavar Cleanslate’s newest hairs. I am in love with this particular blonde color–Chardonnay. Is it the name or the color, I wonder? Kavar is rocking this feathered and wavy, 70s revisited look and while I get nervous about static long hair like this, it performed well in different poses.

My choker and bracelet are further add-ons to the summer flower theme. Danielle Astonia’s jewelry is really quite astounding and versatile. One pack purchased from her includes several colors (instead of potentially laggy color-changing scripts) and is finely crafted. Notice the roses running down the back. A visit to her store is a jewelry lover’s delight.

Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue

Out of the blue, you waltz back into my heart….

Out of the Blue

A pretty summer dress, sleeveless and elegant, is what a girl needs for a night out dancing. This lovely little dress from Sissy Pessoa fits the bill. With a sculpty top and skirt, it would almost seem it might not work but Sissy has built in all sorts of win with various sized tops (I put the XL on first by accident and flipped til I realized she had several tops to accommodate different sized avatars, which is a great move.) The skirt comes with and without an AO so you can try a different way of moving or not. The textures are, in Sissy’s usual manner, beautiful and stylish. She has her finger on fashionable prints.

Out of the Blue

My skin is the glowing and glorious new Audrey from Diarmiud Miklos, coming out on Saturday. I showed a different skin tone a couple days ago. Seeing it in tanned is a whole different story. The lips are bee-stung and beautiful, the eyes gloriously colored with ethereal shadows. My earrings are Rama Anatine’s offering for Accessory Fair, a loosely Egyptian-symbol-themed gold pair with a beautifully textured blue stone.

I have been showing you shapes from Freedom Parx/GM Nikolaidis for a couple months now under the name “Freestyle.” GM has opened a store for poses now and rebranded under the name “Fluke.” I am showing a handful of his poses here.

Out of the Blue

When I’m just about over you, you tear me apart.
With your smooth talking words, and promises from yesterday.
With the sound of your voice and the things that you say.

Dreaming of a Mojito

One of my favorite drinks is the mojito. I really got hooked on them when I went to Tampa for SLCC and sat at the bar with Lauren Weyland and Eshi Otawara and several others, enjoy the great drinks. Yum!

Calypso

So this beautifully done dress from Tammany Goodliffe makes me think of a fruity refreshing mojito (though it’s less lime than orange). With its great tropical print and excellent construction (that’s a sculpty skirt there but you would hardly even think about it the way it is fitted to the avatar and the way it moves), it’s an antidote to “spring-is-too-damn-long-coming.” Tammany’s work is perfection from top to bottom.

Calypso

I wore it to match the ethereal skin Gala Phoenix has recently released—May. Gala has combined photoreal features with artistically rendered elements to create a more mature, more refined skin for her customers. The lips are absolutely luscious this time—not overdone or oversized and her eyebrows are perfection.

I wear the set with one of AvaGardner Kungler’s beautiful jewelry sets. Ava makes jewelry go beyond the representative to the artistic in SL. I can really imagine these beads as an intricate couture piece for both the necklace and ring. This is part of a series she is completing based on nature; the next series will be about the ocean. I can’t wait!

Calypso

Finally, my shoes are a warm weather showstopper from Sissy Pessoa. Available at the Shoe Fair, they have all the earmarks of a chic summertime shoe—straps lacing up the foot, a sexy, more casual wedge, and golden python, which seems to be Sissy’s specialty. These would be perfect at a club or bar ocean side, where mojitos can be leisurely sipped.

Morea Style at Fashion for Life

French fashion has always been the cornerstone of the industry. France is the home of couture, of elegance, of clothed sexuality. It’s also the home of Morea Decosta, the owner of Morea Style.

Morea Style at Fashion for Life

Morea Decosta represents her vision in translucent flowing prims, delicately decorated textures and seductively designed system pieces. Morea, like the finest French couturiers, understands a woman needs to feel sexy and needs to feel light, sensual fabrics against her skin. She also understands a woman wants to show off her best features.

Morea Style at Fashion for Life

She also recognizes that a woman needs different looks for different occasions, so she doesn’t only provide dramatic ball gowns. Cocktail dresses and pant suits also feature in her fashion, all carrying the same stamp of sensual elegance and beauty.

Morea Style at Fashion for Life

Morea Decosta has participated in Fashion for Life for several years. This year, Morea Decosta decided to donate for a store space at Fashion for Life but she generously added a personal donation to become a VIP Sponsor. She did this because she knew many would see her brand and because she knew contributing to the American Cancer Society through this program insures all donations go directly to the ACS without passing through anyone else’s hands.

Morea Style at Fashion for Life

Make sure you attend the Fashion for Life, March 12-22, SL’s biggest fashion fair on 9 sims hosted by the American Cancer Society and SL’s Relay for Life!
