Seduction

Seduction

Seduction is always more singular and sublime than sex and it commands the higher price. ~ Jean Baudrillard

Seduction

A long slinky dress in black with little flickers of skin showing, a strappy sandal, a sexy back, long wavy hair and deep red lips and nails. Who could be immune to this seduction? This incredibly sexy dress is a creation by Joeylin, who has exploded with gorgeous, sexy content since I last saw her shop a few months ago. The texture on this dress is peekaboo, as many of her textures are, though this is incorporated with the dress (the dress includes both lighter and darker skin versions).

I am wearing Gospel Voom’s latest shoe, the Eva. It’s a classic, old-school vamp with a stiletto heel. As always, the skin matching is a breeze with his special matched library of skins. I colored the nails red and ran out to get Jamman’s mesh nails, which I had been hearing a lot about in Fashion Emergency. With a special hud, I can adjust to three lengths and several colors of red with the set I bought.

Seduction

Tricky Boucher probably has the most seductive skins in SL. With soft and sexy features, the Shyla skin has a ton of attraction power, especially with the red lips I added from the set. Long wavy locks from Truth Hawks’ new collection soften the look, making me old-school movie star fabulous and Deco jewelry from Tiffy Vella adds elegance and completes the look.

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

As I have said before, I have always had a little trouble being blonde in world. I am not blonde in RL nor do I understand the fascination with blonde coloring. Even when I was a girl, I always thought Sabrina was much more intriguing than Jill and that Kelly was just way better looking in general. (See, I thought I was Sabrina but I *wanted* to look like Kelly.)

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

But I am starting to see the appeal of being a blonde. First is this new skin from Mallory Cowen, made especially for blondes. With its subtle and light features, beautiful glow (it really does glow as advertised, and we aren’t talking about prim glow), and the well drawn features (eyebrows!), it’s an exquisite skin that makes being blonde pretty damn fun for me.

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

Then add Sascha Frangilli’s remade Temptation dress. She has remade the dress with less “battleship” and more cocktail. She gives you, as always, several options. I show two here—the prim longer skirt and the system skirt, with the great bolero and without. I paired it with these great slingback from Nardya Rousselot. I completely endorse her shoes—great shape, great textures.

P.S. A quick note. RFL Clothing Fair is happening again this year, starting at 3 pm slt on March 13. IF you are a fashion blogger in good standing, you may drop a note to Phoenix Ember with your name and blog url and she will add you to the group to preview the sims on press day, March 12. RFyre will be sponsoring the Paris sim, based on the city where Raven and I will be vacationing when either of us wins the lottery.

More Spring Flowers

I can see more people have the same idea I do. We’re screaming for spring! (Apologies to all my friends in the Southern Hemisphere.)

Spring Flowers

Today’s visit to a springtime flower garden comes courtesy Nicky Ree. I think she’s in the same state of mind. I show here two sets actually, both using the same pattern from Nicky’s Autumn Dance collection (I bought both—I couldn’t decide.) First the shorter dance dress (which also comes in another version). With the ruffled neckline and flouncy ruffled skirt, this is at once sexy and girlish. The brilliant addition is the solid wide belt around the waistline—it makes the dress go from purely flowery to stylish.

This is the difference between a new designer and an expert—Nicky is able to wrangle her textures and prims into making the look she wants. Flowers go from proportionally small in the top to larger on the prims, the waistline shows as a solid piece even though it extends from the top to the skirt prim, prims are all perfectly placed and textured. Nicky controls what she does—she turns the “bugs” of designing in SL into “features.”

Spring Flowers

Then I show the Dance Gown. With its elegant line, full trained skirt, and detailed wrist it is a breath of fresh air—the first window open after a long winter indoors.

I found what I needed to gently compliment the dress at Maeve Mortlock’s store, Ear Candy. With every piece going for 59L, Maeve makes stocking my jewelry box inexpensive and delightful. Her earrings look like no one else’s—clearly Maeve has a great stash of beads and textures to work with and she uses them with joy. My biggest complaint? The jewelry is copy/no trans. I can’t give gifts. Otherwise Maeve would be making a lot more linden as I pass these baubles out to all my friends.

Spring Flowers

It’s spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain

Santa, Baby

I am running around the grid trying to shop for my loved ones for the holiday. I run into men looking at panels with quizzical looks in their faces (even without emoters), their edit beams going back and forth from one panel to the other, totally confused.

Santa, Baby

Well, Santa, Baby, what ladies want is something to make them feel pretty. And if she’s a lady like me, she wants to feel beautiful, and she wants only the best. And you want her to look sexy. I’ve got your answer!

Santa, Baby

LeeZu Baxter just came out with a set of lingerie that includes her own special touches. The lingerie is super sexy, but it also includes her signature artistic flourishes—this time in the manner of silver filigree slashed across the bodice. But the artistry is also in the myriad other details—the silk stockings wrinkled at the knee, the sheen of the satiny ribbons in the garters (one of them twisted, as if put on in haste), the sexy clips barely holding everything together, and the beautiful hand drawn lace along the bodice, stocking tops and panties. Gentlemen, buy your woman a piece of art!

Santa, Baby

I paired this with one of Lorac’s newest skins, only available at her new store at the Icon sim for a mere 10L. (Ten lindens for Pulse!!) For this small amount, you are getting the latest Lorac artistry from the new warmer Life line with a beautiful green shimmering eyeshadow, red holly lips and a dressy cat-eye liner.

Santa Baby

And finally, some cute little slingbacks I got from London Dailey. These are the kind you can kick off quickly, which one would need to be able to do, wearing this outfit ;)

Dream in Aubergine

A night out on the town. Now if you have a special someone, you know that you want to look your glamorous best. Even if you don’t, you want to show yourself in the best light.

Dream in Aubergine

Sascha Frangilli’s newest release, Malicious, will take you there. With its beautifully embroidered textures, versatility and gracefulness, this dress is pure glamour in one folder. The dress comes complete with several options—I show two here. She gives you SIX prim skirts alone (listed here because the names crack me up): the Big Sucker, the Battleship, the Swooshy, the Sleek Flexi, the Thin Flexi, and the Cocktail Flexi. And then there’s the Train. (The trim on the front? That’s the Chest Frillies.)

Dream in Aubergine

I chose to show this in Purple but it comes in many other colors including Cognac, Emerald, Gold, Indigo, Magenta, Mandarin, Pink, Red, Silver and Turquoise. There really is not reason not to get one—or two—or five.

Dream in Aubergine

Since the whole theme here is purple, I paired this with a subtly tinted purply hair from ETD and amethyst RFL earrings from Abraxxa Anatine. Pulse has just come out with this skin–Wildflower–which suits the theme perfectly. And I ran and got my FAVORITE shoes (as you all have had to hear about a million times), the slingbacks from SKG shoes—this time in Eggplant. (The real question here is how many ways can you say purple?)

Dream in Aubergine

I will wear purple as a young woman (and not just as an old woman):

Business Time

I recently met with Gentle Heron of Virtual Ability, Inc. in world at my villa. We had met at SLCC and found we liked each other a lot and had a lot to share. Gentle’s organization was one of the first winners of the $10,000 USD Linden Prize. In collaboration with a number of residents, including my friend Pecos Bill, Gentle has raised the bar for non-profits in SL.

We specifically meant to discuss fashion for members of her group–people who are disabled and live in SL. They have various concerns—how do you wear a prim skirt if you are in a wheelchair and it hangs down, how do you dress if you are sight impaired, how do you seek the support of creators in world and bring awareness? Gentle estimates that 20% of our residency has some form of disability which hampers them in using SL. That’s a lot of folks who find enjoyment and fun but just need a little help and since I know a little bit about prim skirts, I wanted to help. We had a great meeting.

Business Time

To meet with Gentle, I wanted to dress appropriately for business. While she is an open-minded lady and actually a lot of fun, I wanted to show her how much I respected her work and her group by making my avatar reflect my seriousness (and my fashion savoir faire).

Business Time

So I chose this classy outfit from MEB’s 2009 Fall Collection. While MariaElena Barbosa uses photo sourced textures, she does so with skill and elegance. She has combined sculpty cuffs and collar in a manner that makes the silhouette of this blouse sharp and stylish. And the slacks look tailored and rich.

I will note that she includes the pair of shoes she shows in the panel photo with this outfit. I purchased another outfit where she showed boots in the photo and received shoes instead, which I found disappointing. MariaElena needs to work a little on truth in advertising.

Business Time

Autumn Hykova’s appropriately-named “Posh” was a perfect accompaniment to the outfit along with Pulse’s fresh Valeries Wheat/Blush skin. I accessorized with Cora Lu’s Steel Spikes for Paper Couture and of course, my favorite slingbacks from SKGShoes, the Alina Slingback Pumps.

Supreme Elegance

I pulled out one of my favorite dresses today, a dress from Paper Couture. It reminds me of true elegance, high fashion—the kind that Richard Avedon photographed in the 50s and 60s. I saw his exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (and treated myself to the catalog), and I couldn’t help but see some of that high fashion in this dress.

Supreme Elegance

Ava Lu’s dress for Paper Couture came out with a number of others last fall. Paper Couture releases in an interesting fashion—they follow fashion seasons. This dress was from Fall 2008—a collection based on birds. They even made bird masks and beautiful artistic photos for the release. Truly high fashion.

Supreme Elegance

This dress has a unique shape with its sculpty skirt underlain with netting and its strategically placed prims off the sides and back. It’s not your run of the mill empire waist dress and it works with its regal scarf. The texture is sumptuous, rich and heavy with embroidery. This is not a dress for every woman in SL.

Supreme Elegance

Paper Couture is not for every woman in general. They take chances with their fashion, using avatars as an opportunity to try out their fashion ideas and innovating with prims, sculpties, and textures. Sometimes they hit it (Cecilia, Folora Gown, Cardinal Entrance are a few I really love) and sometimes they miss (Turtle Dove.. oh dear), but they do it grandly. And they do it without arrogant pricing. Their outfits are 250-300L so you can own the whole collection for a pittance, and toss what doesn’t work for you. You can find their past collections available on XStreetSL. There are some real gems there.

Supreme Elegance

I accented the outfit with tasteful earrings from Cora Lu, offered in this Spring’s collection. ETD’s elegant Anisa (also one of my favorites) tops the ensemble with Saki Galiazzo’s sophisticated Alina slingbacks finishing the outfit.
