The sims at Fashion for Life are all about travel, so of course some of the designers jumped in. Nancoix Urquan chipped in to the theme with a set of poses complete with a suitcase prop that has texture change. Of course, everyone is taking photos on Troy Vogel’s sim with this set because it’s so perfect. Troy built the sim despite a personal RL move, and I love him and his bears to pieces for his generous contribution to Fashion for Life.

Sysy Chapman has always been a big supporter of Fashion for Life as well, and she is offering this great dress in several version with a portion of each sale going to Relay for Life/American Cancer Society. With her great bright textures and sexy silhouettes, she makes my travelling girl look fresh and sexy. With little espadrilles from Freya Olivieri and jewelry from JuneMonteiro and Moonsoul, I have Fashion for Life covered.

Don’t you hate the women who come off the plane looking fresh and rested, not a crumple in their clothes, not harried or tired? That would not be me. I would be the one posing on the tarmac and missing my connection regardless of how great I look. My skin from Inka Mexicola gives me that tan traveled look with a high-fashion makeup for glamorous traveling. Add this great feathered hair from Alice Demonia, which she is offering at the Thrift Shop, half off (in price, not style) with a great HUD for texture changes. I’ll catch the next flight out.

Portlandia

A friend of mine clued me into a new show that’s gone viral online but will be starting up on the IFC channel in the US on Jan. 21. Called “Portlandia,” it’s about folks who live in Portland. I am not sure how they will make a series of a bunch of comedy sketches but I look forward to seeing more episodes anyway. The first episode, especially the opening, reminded me a lot of SL.

I assembled this Portlandia-type outfit (tattoos are covered). First we have a terrific leather jacket from moonbubble Gothly over a striped shirt from Hudsen Armidi (who claims “death” in his profile). Then I wear some great low-slung bell bottoms from Aranel Ah over clogs from Amandine Arai. Tie on a scarf from SySy Chapman, and I am set. The fun part about this outfit is it was so hodgepodge but it came together so nicely for me. I was just feeling the Portland vibe.

A young woman from Portland needs a fresh look (from sleeping late and drinking organic chai from recycled cups wrapped in burlap). Tuli Asturias’ Emma skin is pretty enough to do the job.

And needless to say I am in love this newer hair from Truth Hawks, named after someone I know (I swear). With a color change cap and optional streak, it’s gorgeous and perfect for our Portland girl.

A small disclaimer: I shot these photos using screen capture with shadows in Phoenix. For some reason taking a photo IN the client doesn’t keep the shadows for me.

Intrigue

I am a little stir crazy, a bit restless.

I decided to dress it up. I put on these sexy flowy pants from monica Outlander, a slinky top, just out from Sysy Chapman (who does these sexy little separates so well), a pretty necklace and earrings that get some glamour treatment from Quinlan Quimby and some killer heels from Viktoria Brandenburg.

But the story is really about the skin and the hair. First, the hair—from MrSigmund Fride, this hair is quite dramatic (intentionally so). I wanted big and I got big. And then the skin, from sachi Vixen. You know I don’t think sachi envisioned it this way but it works. The subtle make up, almost glimmering under this big pile of hair, is perfect for this look. It’s already so over-the-top, the makeup doesn’t need to be so.

It’s Golden

Part of living life is that feeling of bleah that sometimes creeps over. I had it yesterday. We really are living in tough times—people are out of work, oil is leaking like mad in the Gulf, a whole country in Europe is going bankrupt, we are still engaged in war, SL seems a mess, a friend passes away—should I go on? *sigh*

But then, as it always does, the sun rises to the next day. The flowers in my windowboxes are growing already and reflecting their color into my bedroom. The neighbor’s birds squawk joyfully (cockatoos next door—don’t ask). The weather is beautiful! I log in and someone makes me laugh right off with her stories. A newbie I once helped sends me one of her creations, and it’s absolutely amazing. I hear from a dear friend who I had thought I had lost to the aether of the internet, and he has a new wonderful job. I am so happy for him. It’s all golden. It really is.

The golden today starts with Sysy Chapman’s 69L dress from this week. With its two-toned top, cute halter and darling wavy prim skirt, this is a cute dress for bopping around the grid.

I accessorize with bracelets from Babyhoney Bailey which I have had for a while and loved. I would wear these in real life—they are very chic with their abstract textures.

What makes me even happier is wearing Tuli Asturias’ new skin with a new hair from Lamb Bellic. I love this low gathered ponytail with the strands escaping, the fullness of the ponytail. I have already given my review of Tuli’s new skins.. *happy sigh*

Trinket

I am a victim to cute things, pieces of jewelry, trinkets. I styled this WHOLE LOOK around the necklace around my neck.

Let’s dispense with the trinket. I got this darling little necklace and the matching bangles at a little out-of-the-way place courtesy of a friendly tip. Inexpensive and cute, I just like what Spinnetje Jewell has crafted.

That being said, I wanted to build on the reds and blacks so I started with a jewelry-displaying top from Sysy Chapman, part of a larger fat pack. With its well crafted sheen, clean edges, and sexy cut, it’s very typical of Sysy’s great work.

The skirt is a shortie from LeeZu Baxter she recently released. LeeZu, for all her extravagant textures and complicated couture, shows she has the chops to make an eensy mainstream skirt too.

Boots are from one of those random dispenser things, this one located at “anuenue. I love these boots that Marea Kirax made and I think I must have bought at least 10 pairs trying to get red (which I never got). They are, however, transferable. Go try your luck and send your friends your doubles.

Nails are another trinket, and I got these beauties from Candy Nail for the Hunting 9 hunt, which is quite rewarding but also exasperating. I am not a big hunt fan, but this was only 9 items and at great content makers. I ended up purchasing at almost all of them because something pretty inevitably caught my eye.

The hair I love. Truth Hawks just came back with this great style, which will find its way on my head over and over. I love the textures, the shape and most importantly, the streaks, which are menu controlled. I keep putting the hair on and changing the streak colors. Give me a streak over a bow any day!

Pure Class

You know, class isn’t about looks or size or money. It’s about attitude. It’s about how you project yourself to others. It’s about how you feel about yourself.

That’s why I was glad to do this particular blog using a new shape made by Xme Xue. In a world of beautiful avatars, it’s great to have one that is beautiful in a less conventional way. Wearing it, I feel like a complete woman—curvy hips, full breasts, and plump features. The shape is proportional—we don’t see a tiny waist with ridiculously huge breasts and hips. We see how a woman looks when she is plus sized.

I am wearing a great outfit from Sysy Chapman. Understated yet fashionable, the outfit does come with a belt that disappeared into this shape, but who cares? It also comes with a turtleneck which I further dressed up with a great scarf from Onyx LeShelle and earrings and bangles from Fallingwater Cellardoor. Shoes were a great buy from Siddean Munro.

Finally, let’s talk about skin on shape. I hear people talk all the time about how they have to tweak their shape to fit a skin. Something seems wrong with that to me. The shape should be good enough to fall within the norm of most skins. The skins should be good enough to fall within the norm of many shapes. I have seen skins with lips that are too large and overlap my lips (which are pretty full already). Or they were tested on a sour puss face, so they don’t conform to a smiling face. Tuli Asturias’ Bella skins seem to fit over every single shape I try them on. I never seem to find a fit problem. And Xme Xue’s shape is so luscious.. well it’s a perfect fit here.
