Irish Spring

My kid’s birthday is tomorrow on St. Patricks’ Day. I never thought very hard about the significance of this until he got older and I realized his birthday was always the cross from winter into spring. After his birthday, it was bound to never snow and never get below zero. I am counting on him to hold open the door to spring again.

I am looking forward to the daffodils and narcissus blooming, so I carry one from Taiko McCaw from her gacha at Luck of the Irish. I dressed accordingly in a green dress from Azure Electricteeth from Collabor88, one that is off the shoulder so I can show off my beautiful claddagh set from Abraxxa Anatine. She has put scripts in the jewelry so you can choose from a number of stones and gold or silver, of course, allowing you to avoid yet another HUD. The set includes a necklace, earrings and ring and there is a necklace available for gentlemen as well. My cute little shoes are VaVaVaVixen’s flats at Luck of the Irish.

I feel fresh and beautiful in Nicole Button’s amazing new skin for Skin Fair. Her skins are all hand-drawn and so amazingly detailed and lovely with gorgeous features. This skin, in particular, has pretty bow-shaped lips that have an exquisite outline to accent their prettiness and the luster so indicative of Nicole’s work. The skins come with appliers for just about anything you can think of, including the Eve body. It looks fantastic on the Maitreya body, as you can see. Bubbles Clawtooth is in this round of Kustom 9 and she is offering two casual and pretty styles this month, ideal for dress up or every-day casual.

Poor Dear Silly Spring

It’s coming! It’s coming! The sun is out, the snow is melting, the world is puddle wonderful! I admit I was starting to doubt with the many inches of snow, the never-ending unrelenting cold, and the fact that a groundhog bit the mayor of a town in my state. I know I am overdoing it with the flowers here, but spring is coming and I can’t wait!

TheAnnex is offering this lovely dress among others in their gacha at The Luck of the Irish Gacha that Depraved Nation is holding. There are a kazillion gachas full of all sorts of awesome stuff like this, so bring lots of change. My shoes are HauteCoutureDesign’s original mesh set, and they come with a HUD with six wonderful springtime colors with a darling t-strap design and a wedge heel.

I outfitted my parcel with this great gazebo from Winter Thorn, which also comes with a beautiful cozy fireplace, though I opted to use the more open one so I could take in the promise of spring in the air. I dropped in minor decorations from Sway Dench and a hanging mobile I picked up at Origami by gin Fhang.

Skin Fair opened at midnight and the sims were INSTANTLY jam packed. (Find all the details here.) You can find this gorgeous skin from Hart Larsson on Sim 1. As usual, he decorates the skin with a cateye liner and lovely lips and features, all hand-drawn and refined. And since Hart is a programmer himself, he managed to unlock every kind of major applier, including that for the Belleza body, so you can rest assured you are PXL top to bottom. My hair is one of Thora Charron’s newest, a lovely romantic look with a twisted lock that pulls to the back and beautiful waves, all with her clever texture-change HUD. And a branch of blossoms from Siestabril Nitely, also from Origami, completes the look and brings spring, finally, to my blog!

Irish Eyes

You can’t kiss an Irish girl unexpectedly. You can only kiss her sooner than she thought you would. ~ Irish saying

I thought my pretty girl today should be tagged an “Irish lass,” mostly because of the green of her dress and the season. Mami Jewell just released this beautiful gown, a mix of mesh and sculpty and flexi prim, employing the best of each. The main gown is a perfect corseted bodice over a long skirt with a nicely made skirt, all in mesh. Then Mami pumps it up with a few great optional attachments, like the rose-crowned translucent train that floats around the body. The movement of those pieces makes all the difference and it’s hard to notice they are flexi prims (beyond their movement) because Mami has so skillfully built and textured them. I complimented the look with AvaGardner Kungler’s beautiful necklace for the Instruments.

Skin Fair opens very soon, kids, and June Salmson has worked her heart out on two new skins to be shown there. I am wearing Jessica, which comes with appliers for everything you would ever need them, including the Maitreya body, which I am wearing. I added June’s pretty beauty mark to the look and enjoyed the simple elegance of her skin. My hair is Shylah Honey’s gacha item for The Luck of the Irish. The bonus to this hair is that it comes with a detachable spray of hair that makes this either a lovely long look, cinched in back or a bun. And the bun is the best feature. It’s a Celtic knot, perfect for your Irish lass look or frankly, any look you want to make elegant.

The Feminine Mystique

When I was in college, I did a paper about the watershed that World War II brought  to women’s liberation. After working in the factories and offices of America while the men were away fighting, women were once again relegated to the homes when the soldiers came home. And they discovered it wasn’t enough. Past the beautiful lawns, the lovely houses, the equipped kitchens, middle-class women were slowly realizing their dissatisfaction with the suburban life.

It’s an irony that women seemed to have it so good but rebelled in the 60s and 70s. I was inspired by a few pieces that have recently come out. This look reminiscent of a 50s housewife made me think of June Cleaver or Harriet Nelson. An easy dress from monlmanl, which she made for Shiny Shabby, is a perfect outfit for our ideal housewife, especially with flats that Senzati0n Domenitzo will be featuring at the Luck of the Irish Gacha (opening on the 10th). A great big handbag from Gianna Brody carries her wallet, head scarf, gloves and tube of lipstick for touchup plus the keys to the big Buick her husband bought her to drive to the grocery store.

Maybe it was because their lives were unfulfilling. With this full array of cleaning items from MadPea’s gacha at the Arcade, a 50s housewife could carry on the task of her womanly duties. The vacuuming and rug-cleaning, the mopping, the window washing, the ironing and the sauna are all covered with these darling pieces, perfect for scattering around your SL house to show you keep clean in your other life. (Remember that the MadPea crew’s top dog comes from a Scandinavian country so sauna supplies are not that odd.)

Bubbles Clawtooth’s hair was also the inspiration for this look. This drop-dead darling cut, reminiscent of the prettiest of 50s ladies, made my look perfect. I can see this hairstyle easily being used for contemporary looks as well, it’s so versatile and cute. I vamped up Umazuma Metaluna’s skin with firey red lips from Constance Daehlie that she is featuring at Anybody. My pearls are oldies but goodies, hand assembled from prims (!) by Polly Pavlova.

I am floating on a cloud because who wouldn’t dream of this? The dress, the housework, the cleaning. Oh yay.
