Compliments

I don’t hand out compliments thoughtlessly. I hate coming off as a sycophant or as insincere. I think most folks get that when I say something complimentary, I mean it. (It’s a Midwestern thing.) That being said, I got the lucky chance to be a blogger for the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, and I have been trying to show a few things that have come through for the event. I didn’t get the full import of the event, however, until I got a preview. I really have to compliment the organizers (mainly LilDaria, the owner of the Mesh Body Addicts blog, and Ravenwings). The layout is shopping friendly without a lot of silly décor, walls, paths or other obstacles. The designers are allowed to have more than just an exclusive piece, so there is lots of shopping fun. And the line-up is freakin’ fantastic with such big hitters as Maitreya, Belleza, Catwa, Blueberry, and others participating. Even better, there are some newcomers and lesser-known names joining in, and that’s what makes it so exciting. For once it seems like no one was excluded for any other reason than they don’t do original stuff for mesh bodies. It doesn’t feel cliquey, it’s professional, and it seems everyone has put their best (mesh) foot forward with every single store filled. No small feat. Well done!

Exciting news out of Belleza too, as Tricky Boucher has released an update to the Belleza bodies with a redesigned HUD, an alternate body that takes down the graphic resources used (called Lite), and several new rigging and body part updates that make this body sleeker and better (including a seemingly seamless neck). Most importantly, the body is an UPDATE, which means no additional cost accrues to those who already own the body. That’s a big deal because Tricky derives no immediate benefit from all this work except hopefully new sales to people who will weigh the improvements against other bodies and purchase new. It’s really quite generous. Worn with one of Shyla’s recent appliers for Fifty Linden Friday, it’s a gorgeous look top to bottom. (Please note I am wearing Catwa Clip’s newest mesh head, featured at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, one that I have been raving about for the past couple days. Looks awesome with Shyla’s applier and fits the Belleza body absolutely perfectly.)

I wore this dress from Sukoshitosuto from the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, a darling number that can you around the grid and fits the Belleza Isis body perfectly. Many creators have foregone making stuff for Belleza bodies and I hope they get back to it because it’s a great body and as I understand, the designer pack is easier to use than others. Shoes from Equitum, which are featured at Tres Chic, fit the Belleza feet and add prettiness to my look.

I hunted down the pretty necklace Crashnoww has in his gacha at The Epiphany and wore AvaGardner Kungler’s newest earrings for the Cosmopolitan Room, glamorous and pretty with this look. Finally, Elikapeka Tiramisu’s ponytail for Shiny Shabby is a simple and pretty look for getting around the grid.

I took a trip over to one of the LEA exhibits, “Gravity is a mistake” by Eupalinos Ugajin. Apparently it’s still in construction, but it’s hard to tell what more needs to be done because it’s already a pretty cool display with all sorts of moving parts (careful you don’t get hit in the head or shoved out of the way by a moving prim while taking a photo). I wore Unitedcolorssteam’s gorgeous dress for Mesh Body Addicts, a fitmesh for several mesh bodies that includes a lace overlay on a satin underdress and has several options for texturing the lace and dress (including making the skirt completely disappear so you can wear the top with other things). It’s a lovely piece of work—especially the sheer top with pearls scattered over the bodice. Gorgeous! I paired a sexy pair of shoes from queenshop that she is featuring at Tres Chic with the outfit. They include a great HUD for texture change on the separate parts of the shoe.

Skin Fair is still going on with only a few days left. I put on this great Omega applier skin from Shantia Soulstar under her new brand name and discovered she has the body appliers at her shop for free. I applied the skin to the mesh head from Gael Streeter and ElleEtGance and then played with lipsticks, liners and lashes to create a look I liked. I used a texture from Kuranosuke Kamachi’s beautiful dark brown hair that included golden ends to match the gold glint in the lace on my dress.

I made myself into a pretty angel for this post with Eilfie Sugarplum’s wings for Uber but mostly it was for Sands Leavitt’s darling look for Uber’s ethereal theme. I chose to wear his cute top with lace overlaying a tube top. It comes with a skirt but I chose Paul Lapointe’s sexier-than-hell leggings with the finest behind in SL. I clicked into this lighter purple shade to let that pretty booty show. I chose the purple/pink shades on the newest Glamistry boots to match to my hot leggings.

MissAllSunday Lemon  has created this gorgeous feathered hair for the Uber event, and I chose a beautiful ombre for my look. I added darling cherry blossom combs to my hair from Mohsin Paulino to match my necklace from Sigifaust. The best part of my look is Steffi Villota’s gorgeous skin for Tres Chic. I used her eye makeup from the HUD and then used Catwa’s lip tinting for my lips, both blended in. What a beautiful face Steffi has created for the Annie mesh head!

I am getting to the point in winter where I need greenery and warmth. SL provides that bit of break that I need. A search brought up this gorgeous new RP sim, Telrunya, where I did a little exploring and took photos of my newest outfit, which starts with Sands Leavitt’s dress for Uber. With materials features in the mesh, the dress is fitted to several mesh bodies and includes a bodacious booty. Sands can’t help but imbue his gamer’s aesthetic and experience in the outfit so here you see leather and a sort of fighter girl’s sexy toughness. I paired it with thigh high boots KenadeeCole recently had up for sale and Mea Carnell’s lovely necklace for Cosmopolitan Room.

Shylah Honey has made a sexy sensuous hair for this month’s Tres Chic, and I really love it and hope I see it on many ladies on the grid because it’s a keeper. I spent a lot of time switching around between the 40 colors on the light brown HUD I had (each one has that many) and enjoyed trying subtly different looks. Sawsan Secretspy is offering this gorgeous skin with stained berry lips at the new Bombshells event. Yes, it’s on my own shape and it feels good!

Small Town Girl

I went over to the small town of Crestwick and thought about my small town girl. She had a shopping spree at Shiny Shabby since it’s opened and got this darling top and skirt combo from Asia Rae that has some great details with textures that evoke movement in the skirt and a lovely soft drape in the top. The mesh is nicely and proportionately constructed so the top is feminine but not outrageous. (In other words, the breasts are proportionate.) I paired it with Meva Carnell’s awesome necklace from Shiny Shabby and shoes from xxsaltandpepperxx from Tres Chic that have the same chain motif as the necklace. (Funny how that works.)

And how refreshing to wear a skin on my own shape again. It’s like washing your face after wearing makeup all day. Umazuma Metaluna has created this darling skin for Shiny Shabby, with and without freckles. I opted for freckles for the small town girl look. A darling wavy hair from Kuranosuke Kamachi for Shiny Shabby finishes my look. I am quite pleased with my demeanor in this look, fully a small town girl.

Evening Stroll

I took a stroll in the snow after a party the other evening. I felt pretty and festive during this week between Christmas and New Year especially with my new coat from Ariadna Garrigus, which comes with a texture change HUD that includes several gorgeous looks. I opted for the safe red with black to match my pretty little shoes from Apple May, which are her exclusive at Shiny Shabby. The only downfall to these shoes? They only are available for Slink feet. I got a pretty neck bow from Jellyroll on MP to echo the whole black bow thing I have going on and have a spiffy handbag from Aikea Rieko for Shiny Shabby.

Marcopol Oh is offering this skin at Shiny Shabby for the LeLutka heads and I opted to wear it on the new Simone. It comes with several lipsticks and eyeshadows but I preferred to apply a shadow from Izzie Button. Dressy earrings from AvaGardner Kungler, also for Shiny Shabby, give some holiday kick to my outfit. And Mina Nakamura’s casual but sophisticated cut for Tres Beau gives a sort of casual touch to an otherwise sophisticated look.

I am filled with joy. It’s that simple. I have a terrific life, a wonderful family, a great set of friends—in SL and RL. Many people fill me with that joy including my every day best friends, my friends and confidantes. You give me your lives, and I give you mine, my love and happiness, my fears and sadnesses. Thank you.

I have been blessed as a blogger too because I have received the gift of seeing many creators’ work, of discussing it, of learning from them, of seeing their visions. Thank you to the many creators who share their work with me!

The Logo Alex mesh head affords not only easy expressions (because you can click the eyes or the mouth separately to create mix and match expressions) but also now makeup options. It’s actually a huge problem for me because I spend hours trying on eye makeups and lipsticks and get nothing else done. Of course, Umazuma Metaluna has not made this any better because she includes brow options and lipsticks with her latest skin, an applier for this head. My friend Jaynine Scarborough is about to come out with an album that includes several gorgeous songs. Jaynine is a vocal teacher and performer in Berlin, who has, for years, also performed almost weekly in SL at her Thousand Rooms. If you have had the privilege of catching one of her weekly performances, you get to hear a beautiful woman’s voice, full of humor and earthiness and melody and sensuality. The song I link above is absolutely beautiful and the sentiment is perfect this season. Please click!!

I took a walk in a place called My Magic Winter to show off this darling coat from Larcoco Mathy for Shiny Shabby, which opens today. It includes a texture change HUD so you can switch up the sweater, buttons, and the detachable fur collar and cuffs. I wear it with Bax Coen’s newly redone knee-high boots, made specifically for different mesh bodies like the Maitreya Lara, the Bellezas and the Slinks.

Look closely and you can see today’s KittyCats & Friends Advent Calendar gift, a pair of earrings custom-fashioned by RL jewelry artist, Bastchild Lotus. With a texture change HUD that allows variations on the metal, the charm and the beads, it’s a terrific gift! Umazuma Metaluna has made this gorgeous applier for the Catwa heads, which I am wearing on the Annie head. With several lip options, it’s a beautiful skin to match this head. Peanut Blossoms

I have officially run out of titles and quotes today so you are being subjected to my topic of interest at the moment: Christmas cookies. Yes, I am starting now but this will be a banner year for cookie baking and I have made room in my freezer and purchased many pounds of butter and chocolate for the festivities. Then I give the cookies as gifts to teachers, relatives and friends here and afar. For example, Barely Texan nearly got down on his knobby knees earlier this year to beg me to send him a batch again. And Callie hinted around several times. For the Celebrity Auction for MadPea, benefitting Live & Learn in Kenya, I offered to send Christmas cookies as part of the prize, if the winner takes me up on it, he will receive a few of the said peanut blossoms as well several other cookies (which will title blogs in the future).

I also want to point out that this blog has been nominated as “Favorite Fashion Blog” in the Avi-Choice awards, which is quite an honor to me and my fellow bloggers who sometimes contribute to this blog. There are SO MANY fashion blogs for SL, so this is truly an honor, especially to be in a group of such distinguished bloggers. That being said, a quick trip to the grocery store to get hazelnuts, raspberry jam, dulce de leche, and several pounds of chocolate was in order, so I put on this hot little dress from Spooky Mistwallow (that includes a great texture change HUD with ten choices), struggled into tights from Alaska Metropolitan, threw on my scarf from Izzie Button from Gen Neutral, and grabbed my purse from Snow Martiel and ran out the door in my highly practical and sexy high heeled boots from Senzati0n Domenitzo. Yes, I always dress like this when I go cookie ingredient shopping—don’t you?

Umazuma Metaluma is offering a seasonal blush for cheeks and nose at Tres Chic, so I employed the blush layer over Nicole Button’s latest conversion to the Catwa head. I also used Nicole’s great eye makeups though I struggled with the lipsticks—they just didn’t conform to the lips the way I had hoped, even when I dialed them down. I also had to keep reapplying the blush as the lips overrode that. Not sure if it was a problem with the head’s HUD, the head or the makeup HUD.

Last, I want to give a big plus to the hair I am wearing which includes ANIMATION just like my face. Other people have tried this in the past but Thora Charron has finally made it work with mesh that seems to move in the breeze. I tried to capture an animation (and will attempt again on a future blog), but the side tendrils and the ponytail sway as if a gentle breeze is blowing on me. It’s pretty fabulous!

He proposed to her with a bouquet of black roses, and she said yes. They set the date and time: November 1, midnight.

Her parents were a bit concerned—the two hadn’t known each other long. They could mark they day she had met him: she had lost the blush in her cheeks and had gone paler as the fall moved along, she began wearing everything black, including her lipstick and nails, and her perfume changed from her familiar baby powder to overripe blackberries scented with the underlying note of decaying roses. A cool air eddied about her. They invited him for dinner. He seemed an enigma: charming, handsome, and inexplicably, a vegetarian. Her mother’s pot roast languished in the kitchen as they all picked at their mashed potatoes and roll. Neither could remember a thing they had talked about but he left a good impression.

The nuptials were planned for the Angel Manor. She chose a dress she had gotten on the TAG Gacha, a rare Black Wedding dress from Chandra Meehan that included all the accessories in a beautifully-made custom mesh. The lace of the layered skirt had a subtle skull motif as did her necklace and hair ornaments. A brilliant rose arrangement, which included color-change flower sets, accompanied her veil and she carried an old-fashioned parasol. Her father was a bit uncomfortable at her bared breasts but skull shaped pasties covered the vital parts and well, the dress was certainly inexpensive as a gacha.

Thora Charron provided her beautiful hair, a flowing dark look that fell over her shoulders in romantic waves. And Tuli Asturias’ skin for Tres Chic was her look of choice, a translucent powdered skin with such flawlessness, such delicacy that the veins of blood running under her skin could almost be seen. It provided a pale contrast to her dark makeup from Constance Daehlie.
