This is one of those mega blog entries that just about puts me under. The RFL Home & Garden Expo is packed full of amazing things and I want to show them all, so I crammed select pieces into a gorgeous little treehouse from Kathy Greymoon. My living room is comprised of donation items for RFL, including an industrial table from Bethesa Hancroft, a rug from Tess Spargel, an original painting from Sarah Gantt, a gacha polaroid display from xMister Dash, a lovely Japanese lute from Ryo Ixxel, and one of the darling yoga frogs from Garvie Garzo. My plush sofa and chair are ValiantCo’s contribution to Fameshed this month.

Slide around the corner and find Aki Shichiroji’s orchid terrarium on Loz Hyde’s Paris-themed chest of drawers with one of jiuis32’s full perm frames. There is a whole section of full perm items at the Expo this year, which I spent a fair amount of time perusing. Sometimes I get frustrated and want my own frame with my own texture or to create gifts for friends and full perm can fulfill that need. (It’s not just for reselling!) I found quite a few things that struck my fancy!

Chic Aeon has made a collection of book lover pieces for her gacha at the Expo, and I rather liked the idea of books piled around my house (read or to-be-read). Propped on top is a sunny pitcher of daffodils from Chiana0 and Sisterbutta’s hunt item. I want to note that everything I show contributes, if not 100% donation to RFL, at least a portion. This house is built from love.

My dining room is a place of comfort and joy. I used Liz Gaelich’s gateleg table, (which comes in closed and open versions) as my main table, flanking it with Cory Edo’s chairs for Collabor88. Sisterbutta’s whimsical and beautiful floating paper cranes serve as my centerpiece. Chiana0 made the lovely dark wood hutch and plates that line the hutch. I always like chairs as a piece of art and décor so Akahata’s awesome skyline chair and Sisterbutta’s lovely neoclassical armchair decorate as well as provide seating. DanielEstro always makes his pieces in grays with modify so I feel free to color pieces as I see fit and I warmed up his “Hope” wreath with color. A pretty lamp and wall hanging from Isabelli Anatine bookends the scene with Kasslina’s exquisite and unique antler chandelier lighting the space. Another pretty rug from Tess Spargel gathers it all together.

Shiny Shabby opens today with their first anniversary round and I look forward to showing more items in the next few weeks but I couldn’t help donning Sora Tatham’s denim-based dress. With a texture-change HUD included, you can switch up the top and scarf for different color combos. Boots from Katat0nik Pidgeon fit men or women and are completely modifiable for size as they are not rigged (whew). Elikapeka Tiramisu is also joining in on the fun for the first anniversary with this full bob for Shiny Shabby.

I got my hands on the new Omega-ready Sadie head from Maximillion Grant that he has been promising his pleading customers for a few months. It’s finally done! Since Max had to retrofit his HUDs to be Omega ready and redo all the layers, it took some time. I tried Monicuzza Babenco’s new Logo applier for the Alex head on this one with mixed results. I think we are going to have to wait for Sadie-themed skins to come out for it to look good. For example, Moni compensated for Alex’s full lips by making them thinner but on the thinner lips of the Sadie, it doesn’t look the best. I will keep experimenting, dear readers. Feels Like Home

I recently redecorated a part of my home to enjoy some of the fantastic furniture and décor I was seeing at recent events. Kalia Firelyte’s great rug and fireplace from ROMP provide the center of the grouping with chairs from ValiantCo featured at Collabor88 and Fameshed. Sway Dench has made drawers and rugs for this month’s colorful theme at The Liaison Collaborative. Gachas from Kunst  Himmel and Anaisterpellie and DanielEstro provided fine accessories. I want to note that Anaisterpellie/DanielEstro’s pieces are usually based on a white palette BUT because they leave them mod, a person can recolor, retexture or just rip pieces apart as they like to decorate (please note the wreath on the wall came off one of their pieces and I recolored elements of their other work). Thank you for letting me mod!

To relax at home I am wearing a romantic gown from Aikea Reiko that comes in many luscious colors (as I don’t think Aikea sees any problem with giving you the rainbow and then some). As always, the textures are rich and beautiful with lush shades and ombres. Caelan Hancroft’s choker/collar from ROMP (which includes texture change for the metals and the center stone) is a lovely piece of jewelry or, if needed, open collar for other kinds of play.

My beautiful face is Gael Streeter and ElleEtGance’s mesh head collaboration (which I will call the “GA:EG Adriana Mesh Head” because that’s the brand name, regardless that it is hard to search and clumsy to type). With a very user-friendly HUD that was plug n play (which I will show in a subsequent blog post), layers for makeup, and most important to me, Omega compatibility, I think I am going to find myself wearing this head more and more. It does include expressions which, I find, are not as versatile as the Logo or LeLutka heads but as expressive as the Catwa head. I wish the makeups had the translucency control that other heads have. However, I found they went on lickety split, and I didn’t have the kind of rezzing issues I often have with the Catwa head.

Most importantly, the face is aesthetically pleasing to me. The cheekbones are a bit high but having adjusted my head length up and down and front to back, I was able to find a look that was pleasing. I did not have to mess with my mesh eyes very much as I do with Catwa and even Logo (thank you, thank you) and I found I could wear this skin from Sawsan Secretspy without problems when I wore the Omega converter. The head fit my Maitreya body to a T. It seems the creators have thought of almost everything one will need but I will keep working with it and tell you more.

Compulsory Christmas–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 8

Christmas this year is, as always, fraught with some tension in my household. Things like who is going to get the tree out, whose house are we going to on which day, how much are we going to spend on everyone is driving us all crazy. The good thing is that we generally get along and don’t allow it to become a point of argument with each other. It’s us against the world, as it were. So when I got Zzoiezee’s charming gifts for the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, it was a natural to get them out and create a cozy Christmas card scene (using my poor dude alt who yes, needs some revision but I was hurrying) and erase all that tension with a picture-perfect setting. Zzoiezee packed today’s gift with jammies for him and her, ornaments, a decorated tree (!), and a great couple’s pose (that you see here). Your Christmas card shot is done in one gift from the Calendar!

I enhanced the décor with Winter Thorn’s amazingly cozy woodstove and Christmas décor (which she also offers in white and blue for those of you who are so over red). Everything comes in pieces and she has different settings for the stove so you have a variety of options, all done in Winter’s beautifully warm style. Anaisterpellie and Kerryth Tarantal are two folks who are offering gifting possibilities at the soon-to-open charmingly-decorated Christmas on 34th Street. One of the KittyCatS is checking out a treat Anais is offering for shoppers at one of the gift wrapping stations for a mere 10L. I admit I got in early to the event and Sabein and Callie are in for some awesome holiday gifts this year!

Mina Nakamura is offering this darling hair with hat at Christmas on 34th Street, which means it is also transfer for gift giving. Several of the creators are giving the gifts in a package that can be handed to your friend and when she opens it, the resulting pieces are copy/no trans, so don’t worry about that scary business of giving and potentially losing no copy items. It’s a pretty clever set up as long as you do not peek in the box! (Meaning, don’t open it before you give it or it blows up and you’re holding on to a copy/no transfer item.) Mochi Milena has created a new set of Logo mesh head appliers for the We <3 RP event in three tones. I opted to use the applier on the newly reissued Chloe head and clicked around for the glossy lipstick included with her appliers.

The End of the Sentence–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 2

I threw down some awesome decorations for the holidays to get in the mood today and then realized that a decorated sim is not quite as good as a decorated Harper, so I sat down to paint my nails. Fortunately, Santana Lumiere is offering today’s gift in the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar—nail appliers that can be used on Slink and Maitreya and any other nails that accept Omega (like Belleza). Of course, I would not be able to paint in these gorgeous designs because I lack artistry and I am shaky. So let Santana do the artistry for you with these absolutely exquisite and FREE nails. Grooming requires some comfort so I put on Flutter Memel’s darling long underwear. Shiny and cozy, they are  perfect for hanging around the house or going to a slumber party without being too twee. I paired them with Hilly Haalan’s UGG-style boots, which include optional socks or fur liners/trim and have a great HUD to allow you to color individual parts of the boots.

My décor includes a darling tree from Anaisterpellie that I increased in size and then added color to sections. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to get modify furniture, especially ones without poses. I am able to do all sorts of things with modify furniture to custom color it, fit it to spaces, or rebuild it for my own purposes and this tree is a case in point. It’s darling and would have been wasted if I could not mod it. Tyrek has made a cute holiday-themed daybed with couples poses and sequences and a texture-change menu for several different colorways. And as always, he includes his lovely lights.

Shyla Diggs has perfected the look of the Logo Alex mesh head with her new applier, created from a skin she had already sold. With her sublime lips and blush, groomed brows and beautiful features, she makes the Alex head bloom with beauty. I was able to apply eyeshadow from Alaska Metropolitan to add a little extra color and Weaponizedsugar’s great eye appliers. I am so pleased that Shyla decided to do these appliers, especially for Maximillion’s revised heads.

A full and beautiful style really needs to finish this look and Kuranosuke Kamachi’s look is perfect—full, clean but not overly styled. I am just doing my nails after all.

Fall is rolling in with cooler temperatures. The leaves are piling up outside and while the sun is shining, the day is ending quickly now. So it’s important to grab my drop of happiness whenever I can and remember with every fall into winter, there later comes a spring to summer. I have furnished Trace Osterham’s great new skybox with new finds and pieces that I have custom colored using SL’s tinting. Big strategy for me for decorating is using tints on mod furniture and builds. If a piece of furniture is not mod, I am not a happy person. Half of what you see in these photos was tinted that way, including the cushions of Piraiyah Novikov’s daybed available exclusively in his store at Flux Sur Mer. I paired it with ArtizanMesh’s awesome chair for Chapter Four and Sofi Trenkin’s lovely décor piece that I picked up a month or so ago. Clever pillows from Sway Dench’s gacha at Geeks n Nerds add some cute humor as well as Piraiyah Novikov’s fun Simon Says game for Collabor88 on his gothic table for Gothic Diva.

My dress is Ariadna Garrigus’ gorgeous look for the Boho Culture Fair, which opens tomorrow. She includes the very folk art wedges with them. My bestie is a grayhound from Garvie Garzo’s collection of pups at the Chapter Four. I am so glad to see her in these events because she’s a great artist! Behind me is Tyrek’s collection of potions on a shelf for Chapter Four as well and the awesome RL work of Joe Mainskreet through the avatar hibeebu at Gen Neutral. I saw the pieces on an ad and had to come get a few because they were mounted nicely and fit so well in with the mood here.

Again, I custom-colored a piece from one of Piraiyah Novikov’s gachas, added Anaisterpellie’s lovely table, candles, and rug for the gacha at The Epiphany, and popped up Joe’s artwork. Again, I have Sway Dench’s darling pillows on the chair (making <3). Below. I custom colored pieces of Piraiyah Novikov’s desk and chairs from gachas at his store (I had a big of a night there with the gachas—everything is so pretty and Piraiyah is smart enough to leave things modify so I can do this) and put my laptop win by Surrealia Anatine from The Epiphany on the desk. My doggie from Garvie, whom I have decided to name Herman, stands close.

Bubbles Clawtooth just came out with this casual but cute high ponytail with or without bangs (Saturday and Sunday) and I paired it with one of Inka Mexicola’s lovely skins on my own, familiar system face. Both are available at Kustom9. My necklace was a gacha pull at The Epiphany from Isabeau Baragula. First time’s a charm!

Soup Season

“I live on good soup, not on fine words.” ~ Moliere

It’s the last of photos taken in Barnesworth Anubis’ house. The event has already switched over but this was such a fabulous place to showcase the great pieces I have recently acquired. Finally we’re in the dining room, where the centerpiece is Kalie Firelyte’s sexy dining set for ROMP. Now, typically this may not seem so sexy but it includes several animations in chairs and table that makes it sexy. A very innocuous piece can suddenly become amorous with the right person (especially if you thought you wanted to do it in every room of the house). I decorated with various pieces from gachas at Shiny Shabby, including some darling pieces like the photo hanger from AnaisTerpallie and DanielEstro, the garlands and side table. Jake Vordun does some great work and he’s featuring a picture perfect chandelier at Shiny Shabby and I found pieces from Jammeh’s gacha to make perfect side pieces. Thanks again to tastemaker Sabein Streeter, who organized my stuff and placed a lot of it. All I had to do was go in and put the final touches.

The story is about soup because it’s on my mind a lot. I have made Mark Bittmann’s chunky vegetable soup three times now in the past couple weeks (as delivery of my CSA boxes winds up for the season), and today we had a carrot squash soup with ginger that my mom made. A ratatouille will no doubt make it to the table because there is an eggplant and a box of thyme on the counter. (When did this turn into a cooking blog?)

I put together this casual look with Miffyhoi Rosca’s cuddly soft knit mesh dress as the centerpiece and Darling Monday’s boots as the accompaniment. Available in several autumn-pretty colors, the dress includes a HUD for changing the belt color, so I was able to match it to my boots. Queue Marlowe’s beautifully wavy, side-caught ponytail is a lovely top for this casual look. Umazuma Metaluna made actual system skins for Chapter Four, a lovely set with her characteristic moles and finely-groomed brows. I added Constance Daehlie’s pale lipstick to the look to accentuate my soup warmed blush.

Mellow

The days are still golden this autumn. I was able to take time and toss out the flowers in the window boxes and trim the euonymus and then I sat down to listen to the radio for a bit, lounging on the sofa. In this case, the sofa is part of Alia Baroque’s featured set at ROMP this month, appropriately packed with poses for lounging and love making. I have decorated the family room with various pieces from Shiny Shabby—autumn and vintage pieces from Paolla Flux, pillows from Kunst and Hoorenbeek, chairs and tables from Soyoy, qu0op, and jammeh, and a charming piano from Marinestella. DanielEstro and Anaisterpellie have made the awesome ladder bookshelf for The Men’s Dept and Cherelle Capra has leant color to the room with her pieces for the Color Me Project. My radio is from the talented Lauren Bentham, who is offering prizes for the Peatonville Asylum game from MadPea, opening later this week (which I will write more about soon). And of course, this is all housed in Barnesworth Anubis’ lovely house for Collabor88.

Today I am casual in a baseball tee made for the season from Flutter Memel and Paul Lapointe and BastChild Lotus’ fantastic mesh jeans which have been refitted for the Maitreya body and also nicely fit my Belleza body with few adjustments. My skin is Shyla Diggs’ newest, a look that is fresh and comfortable on my own face, the most “me” look I can imagine, and my braid is MissAllSunday Lemon’s great fishtail braid for Fameshed.

Welcome to this omnibus blog, where I show photos of my living room from Barnesworth Anubis’ house for Collabor88 jam packed with wonderful goodies, mostly from this month’s Shiny Shabby, showing you CAN do one-stop shopping and walk away with a sim’s worth. I can’t comment on everything shown but will make passing comments on each photo.

There are a ton of gachas at Shiny Shabby, including those from Kunst and Hoorenbeek, Toro, Reverie, Apt B, and Concept. ConceptDesign’s awesome plywood chairs come with color change for the cushions and pillows for lots of mix and match fun.

The horse’s corner

Take a ride on Eku Zhong’s antique horse for Shiny Shabby. Rugs abound among the gachas, of course, but if you want an alternative, Whimsy Winx and Sasy Scarborough have cooked up several sets of wonderful rugs for décor, sold at their stores.

The bay window

Barnesworth chocked this house full of cozy bay windows for sitting or decorating. I threw Kunst Himmel’s pillows up there (which include poses), and put a fern from ConceptDesigns out.

The front window

A sitting area by the front windows (with a crisp fall breeze floating in) includes hand chairs jammeh and a pretty chest of drawers and mirror from Paolla Flux’s gacha at Shiny Shabby.

The “kinky” bookcase

ROMP is opening today, and I will be featuring more from that later this week, but I couldn’t help but put one of Anaisterpellie’s kinky lamps from ROMP up on the bookshelf from ConceptDesign, holding a very cute country shelf from FadeArcade.

My obligatory close-up shows Abraxxa Anatine’s funky eyeglasses matched with jewelry from Maxi Gossamer for Fameshed and the yummy sweater set from Theatra Blackheart for Shiny Shabby. An easy ponytail from Karla Marama makes sense with this casual look and another one of Sawsan Secretspy’s luscious skins has hit her store.

The Last Smile

Fall came in yesterday just like that. It was balmy out on Monday evening, the air thick with humidity and early the next morning a cold front came through with a storm and chill air and golden sunshine followed it. When I was trying to take these photos and struggling, my friend asked, “What kind of windlight are you hoping for?” I said, “The kind that imbues the scene with sunlight filtered through a thousand autumn leaves, tinting everything with a nostalgic depth and laying upon it its honeyed warmth before the chill winter winds descend.” He sighed. “Try ‘Sunset.’”

My dear friend Sabein Streeter, helped me set up my autumn house, which I will be photoing in pieces because she jam packed it so full of goodness, and I can’t cover it all in one blog. Her wonderful decorating sense was assisted by the many beautiful décor items available this month at Shiny Shabby. We start, of course, on the back stoop, where we find leaves have covered the area via Kunst Himmel and a cart of gourds, courtesy of FadeArcade. A cozy rocking chair from Marinestella waits for a friend to sit but I have just finished riding my bike from Danielestro and am about to go inside. The house? Barnesworth Anubis’ beautiful cottage for Collabor88, more of which you will see in the next days.

My outfit is a combination of fall and summer. A warm but sexy middriff-skimming sweater from Kiddo Oh at Tres Chic tops short shorts from xxxsaltandpepperxxx, available at the Cosmopolitan Room—both mesh. Long socks from Roslin Petion for My Attci and great little boots from Darling Monday at Shiny Shabby complete the look.

I want to highlight the berries in my hair—a lovely hair pick from Abraxxa Anatine, featured at the Cosmopolitan Room. I pushed it into my hair in front, a celebration of the fruits of fall. The pick has a color change menu on click and is exquisitely crafted in mesh, but not rigged so you can move it around and resize or copy and wear multiple. My hair is one of the wild fusion shades from Kavar Cleanslate, his contribution to Fantasy Collective. And once again I wear Catwa Clip’s lovely Jessica mesh head with a beautiful skin applied from Inka Mexicola , both available at the Cosmopolitan Room.

Good Morning!

I don’t know about you, but I am not a morning person. A lot of my mornings are spent still sleeping or reluctantly greeting the day. It’s a fresh start, though, and a great chance to start anew. Shiny Shabby starts another round today and with it come some fabulous new creations, as you see here. One thing I like about the event is the switch from “shiny” to “shabby,” the combination of sleek and new and decorative and old. As always, the décor is top notch, and I put out several pieces from this round to start the day off. Gachas from 22769, Zerkalo and NOMAD will fill your living space with beautiful pieces, including NOMAD’s rare bed with single and couples’ poses. Convair and keke also provide great décor sets, which can be pulled apart for different decorative looks.

One of my favorite old school designers, Solange Cerveau, is back on the grid with some great sexy mesh pieces. Debuting at Festival of Sin II are skimpy mesh tops with texture-change HUDs that have been created to fit Slink and Belleza mesh bodies and regular avatars. I am so excited Solange is back! Apple May, another old school SL designer, is offering this cute denim mini at Shiny Shabby, also with a texture-change HUD for the belt. Little flat sandals from Hautecouturedesign are exclusives for the Cool and Vintage Fair, opening in a couple days, and Mea Carnell has created a lovely flowered jewelry set for the Cosmopolitan Room.

Sawsan Secretspy is featuring this lovely skin at Swank, and it matches all her appliers, including the Maitreya and Slink that I needed for this look. Two clicks and I was all set! I hunted down Funeral Plutonian’s dreamy eyes at Kustom 9 and donned a side braid from Kuranosuke Kamachi with its beautiful blonde textures.
