KittyCats Advent Calendar

The KittyCatS Advent Calendar is up again this year with a lot of spectacular gifts for people!

Isla Gealach of Cheeky Pea has this fabulous chair with single and couples poses for Day 1 and come back on Day 7 for the darling poinsettia from Kriss Lehmann of Botanical. Day 2 is a great snowglobe with poses from ZzoieZee for Zanze.

Day 3 features 2 gifts: a great set of sneakers with and without socks from Ansor Hoorenbeek of Hoorenbeek for both men and women and a gorgeous fireplace with working fire from Karthikeyan Engineer for Mesh India, including a log holder. (Again, note the poinsettia.)

Day 4 gives two fabulous gifts from Alaska Metropolitan for AlaskaMetro (nails and brows!) and a darling grandfather clock from Kaerri Rae of Kaerri.

Day 5 is a darling cottage from Ulaa Coronet of Funky Junk (a whole cottage!) and Day 6 is a sexy mesh dress from Hilly Haalan that fits standard size, Maitreya, TMP and Slink. Hot!

Day 7 is the aforementioned poinsettia from Kriss Lehmann of Botanical (everyone needs one of these) and Day 8 gives darling nails from Santana Lumiere of La Boheme for a variety of nail types with gold or silver buckles.

Day 9 are two gifts… Giela Delpaso of Nailed It made this sweet set of nails for all nail types and separate mesh nails if you still go system. And Debil Skute of Dekute Dekore is offering this great neutral furniture set that include a variety of sits. These are seriously great pieces.

Day 10 is a sexy little dress from June Dion for Bare Rose with mesh and system pieces.

Tangled–KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, Day 4

I have the tree up, lights on, some décor put out, but I had to get to a holiday party. I had this festive dress from Ever Wonder, a lovely mesh piece she was selling at Designer Showcase that included a texture change HUD so I could try a few colorways on. I slipped on my new shoes from Glamistry and great jewelry from Maxi Gossamer for this month’s Fameshed and rushed out the door to the party.

Now, you all know I have a new dog named Ziggy. She is a darling mutt, full of joy and life and coziness too. But she’s also still a bit of a puppy and she finds her way into things she shouldn’t frequently. For example, she has found (and chewed) slippers I forgot I had. She has chewed the hem on a sweater of mine (after she laid all over it). And she’s chewed up three iPad charging cords. (What the appeal is, I have no idea.) So I should have felt a little trepidation about leaving her loose with the holiday decorations out but I was already late.

Sure enough, she got into the tree. Thanks to today’s gift from Garvie Garzo in the KittyCatS & Friends Advent Calendar, I have a perfect representation of Ziggy (though she’s not the same breed). When I rezzed the gift, I laughed because, yep, that’s my dog and somehow Garvie has met her. Garvie went to considerable pains to create a pet that would make you smile for the holidays, so I hope you rush to the calendar to grab this silly puppy to add warmth to your own home.

Monicuzza Babenco has made a lovely applier for the Catwa mesh head at the Dressing Room Fusion. At a ridiculously low price, it’s absolute beauty on a budget with the beautiful features and freckles (!). So I can still smile, though I will be replacing all the lights.

What to Wear to Burning Life, Part 1

This year again, I have volunteered to help move along the fashion portion of Burning Life, which is a very small part of BL overall, and seems kind of superfluous because no one is looking at avatars—they are looking at the amazing builds and listening to the music. However, there is a place for fashion—what people wear to Burning Man is very important. That being said, this is the first in a series (I hope) of blogs about what to wear to Burning Life this year.

Today’s ensemble is based on anecdotes from RL Burners who have attended Burning Man. The playa is hot and the playa is dusty and you spend a lot of time walking around under the sun. Recommended are hats to protect from the sun, goggles in case of sudden dust storms, and socks and shoes to protect the feet from the alkaline dust of the playa. The rest is left to one’s discretion. One blog says, “Many Burners, both men and women, take the city’s self-proclaimed agenda of ‘radical self-expression’ to mean ‘wear as little as possible.’”

I have chosen the brilliant Shai Delacroix’ Zambia Safari Swimsuit for the playa. With it’s utilitarian camo bottoms and delectable top, it would suit the playa just fine—light enough on top to keep me cool, tough enough on the bottom to withstand dancing, camping, and general radical self-expression.

Braids are always useful—not so much flyaway hair in the winds on the playa. And the bandanna on top of Truth Hawk’s style can serve as protection or face covering when need be. It also keeps the sweat out of my eyes. I have adorned myself with kikunosuke Eel’s (of Japan Tempura fame) beautiful new jewelry to complete the bohemian look I have going here.

The boots are the most important. Fallingwater Cellardoor’s Old Boots are my favorite pair. Broken in, reliable, tough, they protect me from the playa dust better than any, and I don’t have to worry about wrecking them. They get better looking with age.
