Spring Fresh

I’m feeling spring fresh in this outfit and with the fresh new looks from LeLutka. CrystalDoll Lemon makes all her mesh herself with her own textures, and I love this great lingerie dress with a strap slipping off the shoulder and a ruffle in front that she made for the Black Fashion Fair. Maxi Gossamer made the amazing necklace I am wearing for Black Fashion Fair as well, allowing you retexture the drop beads or the main necklace with her clickable menu. And Senzati0n Domenitzo has these fabulous sandals for the Maitreya feet (thank you!) at Shiny Shabby.

LeLutka has come out with another round of mesh heads with their updated scripts and features. If you were waiting to get a head because you were not entirely in love with the first set, you might find something you like from this set. I used the appliers from Monicuzza Babenco for showing the heads because I find them absolutely the same on each so you could see the individual shapes. I found I had to adjust my eyes for each, so yes, they do have different shapes. I topped it with one of Truth’s newest sleek hairs, one that shows off the face.

There’s something to be said for the life of SL, the shopping. So many great events are open right now, especially the spectacular Fantasy Faire (which I haven’t gotten a chance to see), the Black Fashion Fair, Shiny Shabby, 100 Block and many other events. I admit, sometimes it’s just about the shopping for me. I am glad to have SL.

Mixing it all up is even more fun. Start with this top from Spooky Mistwallow that includes a texture-change HUD with different combinations that allow for top and belt looks. Then find this great balloon skirt from Moonbubble Gothly that she has at the Black Fashion Fair that includes several different black-based textures like plaid, polka dots, hearts, baroque. I just love this skirt and the choices. Senzati0n Domenitzo’s great heels for 100 Block have a HUD that allows several color choices. Zig-zag straps make these shoes sexy and fun.

Monicuzza Babenco recently released the Yvonne applier set for the LeLutka mesh heads. Monicuzza offers a HUD as you see below, and she gives you great instructions right on the HUD about how to use the makeups. I definitely toyed with the saturation of the makeups and the glosses on the LeLutka HUD to achieve this look. For example, my lips are the deep dark purple lips on the lower right hand corner of the lipsticks.

My great waves come from MissAllSunday Lemon for Uber. With extravagant corkscrew curls and a side part, the hair is bodacious and beautiful.

Have a Laugh

One of my goals with this blog is to find things people will want to do or spend money on in SL that will enhance their experience. I don’t get to show everything I enjoy but this time I want to share with you, my dear readers, this darling little avatar from Hiko Nino, which is one of a set she made for the TAG Gacha. A member of the Skin Addiction group, who had spent way too much money on the gachas in this event, sent me this avatar and I loved putting it on and wearing it. With an AO built just for the avatar (which includes a ton of great poses), it’s fun, hilarious, silly, goofy, and all the stuff that contributes to the play we like so much in SL. The rare edition also allows the choice of colors for the avatar and the star. I posed among Sway Dench’s topiaries for today’s Fifty Linden Friday. The flowers have color change in the menu script. Yay!

The TAG Gacha itself is a pretty interesting set-up. You go to their parcel and click for a HUD from a sign and then you walk into the circus tent to have it activated. (It took me a bit to understand this because I wasn’t reading the script text in chat as I should have been.) It’s not entirely apparent how it all works so I am giving you the hints here. Then the HUD uses the new features of SL to teleport you to all the participants to see their gachas. This is beneficial in a few ways: 1. you have to see all the gachas so all the creators get a crack at your attention and a chance for you to see their store, 2. you aren’t stuck going to one laggy sim and fighting to get in. Once you fill out the whole card (and there are a lot of great creators participating), you get a chance to go their bonus room, which has more gachas from other creators. The biggest downfall of the event is the adherence to a circus theme. How many more circus things does a person need? They should have let the creators choose what they wanted to sell in the gachas.

Never a Wrong Time

I just made the SL12B site (http://slcommunitycelebration.info) “live” yesterday and with all the moving parts in the site and in the organization, it was a bit of work, so I am ready to get outside for some fresh air and a little fun. (Please please join us for this great event!)

Spring is especially a good time for polka dots, and Moonbubble Gothly has colored my spring darling with this ruffled mesh blouse with polka dots. Available with a great texture change HUD that includes a plethora of polka dotted textures, the blouse is available at 100 Block, which means it’s discounted as well as exclusive. I paired it with jeans from Missqwerty Pevensey, also from 100 Block, in a great skinny style, and gacha items from Alia Whitfield, including a tote that has a texture change menu for the woven part of the bag. Sexy sandals from Senzati0n Domenitzo, which are fitted not just for Slink but also Maitreya feet (yay!) from 100 Block make me pink from head to toe literally.

Sopha Portal has made a series of gorgeous skins for the Black Fashion Fair, some in pale skin tones and some in deeper tones. With lined eyes and pale pink lips, they are pretty and sophisticated. The sets come with mouth appliers for various mesh mouths. I had to go to the store to get the body and hand appliers. Ikira Frimon made this darling cut for the Black Fashion Fair with her massively multicolor HUD. While it looks great in black, of course, it’s also darling in this bright pink. I love Polyester Partridge’s girly “normal” jewelry that she has been featuring at various events. This pretty pink gem is available at Kustom9.

Shiny Shabby opened yesterday with a Russian theme. There are matryoshka dolls, Soviet propaganda posters, folk art designs and costumes, and a lot of vodka (thanks, Kunst). I made me think about what Russia means to me, and all I could think of were the White Nights and the persistence of the KGB that my grad school friend Alexei told me about when we would stay up eating potato pancakes he made and talking about his life in St. Petersburg. And then I thought about Oleg, the very loud Russian Jew who worked a few cubicles down from me, talking in Hebrew and Russian with the elderly people we were interviewing at our job, nearly yelling as they nearly yelled in return. Or I might think of Loreen Aldrin’s (RL Olga Zee—you must click it!) absolutely gorgeous voice and her songs when she performs in SL (join her group here where she gives away a free song every month).

The creators have outdone themselves with the Shiny and the Shabby. Pieces from Monlmanl’s gacha, a folksy dress with embroidery, kerchief and rose (and an apron with a texture-change HUD. Cari McKeenan made this lovely headpiece that has a menu with several colors for the flowers. SigiFaust made a set of rings that she has fashioned to fit several popular mesh hands with beautiful Russian-inspired textures. And Rucy Byron’s amazing boots with their incredible textures and mesh-work complete my Sasha’s look.

I spent a lot of time trying on different hair colors from VivienMarli’s long locks for Shiny Shabby and finally struck upon this apricot-blond as a perfect color, reminiscent of a dream of a spring in the steppes maybe. And Monicuzza has fashioned a beguiling skin for the event that includes several brow tones, which is what made the look complete. I found the blonde was just perfect with this skin tone and the lips are beautifully rendered with a sprinkling of freckles across the nose.

I have nothing to worry about, especially looking as hot as I do. A glamorous diamond necklace suits this look from Avaway at the Black Fashion Fair. Shyla Diggs doesn’t stop stunning me with her beautiful skins, this one a set for The Liaison Collaborative. I can’t help but feel devastatingly gorgeous in this skin with the balance of a well-done eye with a muted lip and beautiful features and of course, her perfectly groomed brows, matching my ginger hair. This ginger hair is Bubbles Clawtooth’s newest for the TAG Gacha, a style that comes with beard and mustache (so you can look like that “lady” who won Eurovision, I presume). To be honest, if her hair is this glamorous, she deserved to win.

A Dress is Never Just a Dress

The Black Fashion Fair is opening tomorrow and it’s 2 sims of a lot of black. Don’t infer this means a lot of goth or darkness (though there is a little of that going on too). Imagine more pieces that are elegant, charming, versatile. For example, this gorgeous gown from Mami Jewell will be her exclusive for the fair. With a great silhouette, a low cut back behind the halter bodice, her wonderful flexi skirts and gorgeous gold accents, this is elegance personified. With glittery black nails from Autumn Amaranth and an onyx stone in a mystical gold mounting from Plurabelle Laszlo, both from the fair and some stylish heels from Glamistry, featured at Kustom 9, this outfit shows how black is the epitome of elegance.

Truth Hawks has thankfully come out with a new updo. Honestly, we need more of this kind of glamour on the grid and with beautfully styled curls pulled up and a wavy lock framing the face, it’s bound to be found in many ladies’ wardrobes with their favorite evening gowns. Sawsan Secretspy’s gorgeous skin for 100 Block finishes off this look with her characteristic gorgeous features and beautiful subtle makeup. Spring is here and though the air is still brisk, the sun is shining and crocuses are popping out and the grass is getting green! Everything in life is about change and spring is a heady reminder of that. I wore this lovely dress from Kiddo Oh, featured for a Ferosh spring fashion spread, to celebrate the season. With flounces and ribbon details, it’s almost like a piece of Regency-era fashion but with a lingerie twist. Kiddo does all her mesh herself as well as her textures, so you know you have a very original piece when you purchase. You can find this and other pieces from the collection in a special tent at the slurl I provide.

For the Spring version of Season’s Story, Shylah Diggs made this lovely hair with a flowered headband, which includes just a headband, the flowers  or just the hair. You get a HUD to change colors so you can match it up with what you’re wearing (as I did). My skin is Aleida Rhode’s newest, fresh and beautiful for spring with hand-drawn textures and a sophistication that many skins lack. Aleida includes appliers for what seems is every known mesh out there, so you can wear it with your mesh body, as I did with the Maitreya body.

A honey golden look for a lovely song from a few great events going on right now. Start with this darling dress from Pistyle Primswitch that has a big bow in the back and a lovely bodice. I love the gold colors, which is a bit different. I matched it with leggings from Erratic Rain, who is offering several appleir sets at Collabor88, perfect for putting under dresses or tops. My slingbacks are a gacha item from Alia Whitfield from 100 Block. Great textures combined with a chic style complete the look.

A trip to the great Interlude festival will ace you this chair from Paolla Flux, which includes poses named after the Beatles and their song subjects (Penny, Jude, etc). In several different wood and upholstery textures, one of them will bring musical inspiration to your home.

Peeking under my hair are earrings fashioned by Bastchild Lotus, who makes jewelry in RL too in her own studio, and her crafting in SL shows her insider knowledge, especially on the texturing of the stones, which are gorgeous. Find them at 100 Block as well as this tousled hair from Shylah Honey, which includes their great texture-change HUD. My skin is one of Umazuma Metaluna’s newest with her customizable lips, which I have made a deep shade of color to accent my golden look.

A favorite little hang out of mine is Industry, where I go to hear great musicians and DJs and hang out with some nice folks with great avatars. Cate Footman started the club, built by Jessyca Teardrop, and it’s a fun eclectic space, so when Cate came up with the idea of doing a fashion event, I was excited to see what came up. Opening April 12, it will prove to be pretty fun set of fashion, all inspired by a list of songs.

Lexi Morgan chose “Heart of Glass” by Blondie for her inspiration, putting a funky graphic zigzag in several colorways on a cute sleeveless minidress. With a zip up the front, it’s funky and cute and portrays what seems to be a pop-culture dress for a very pop-culture song.

Caelen Hancroft was also inspired by “Heart of Glass” and made literal hearts of glass, which she dangles from a linked chain. It includes a fantastic HUD for changing textures and colors on the hearts, beads and chain components. Shoes from KenadeeCole, featured at the 100 Block, are a perfect match to the dress style.

Mina Nakamura has this brilliant hair at 100 Block, perfect for this look and reminiscent of a cut that Debbie Harry once had with bangs artfully framing the face and super straight hair. It’s actually a challenge to make hair like this look right in SL and Mina was up to the challenge. A skin with a beautiful glow and great brows for blondes (which is always tough), Shyla Diggs’ skin for Uber is just gorgeous with a bit of blush and gloss added. I love how Shyla does eye makeups—so subtle with beautiful colors.
