The Elf in Myself

We all find a way to find an alternative personality in our special world of SL. Some people choose to be elves. It’s never been my dream personally (I am always going for this wealthy, childless, single woman fantasy in SL myself), but I needed to find the elf in myself so I could show off the awesome new mesh ears that Maximillion Grant is featuring at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair. What is so cool about these ears is that they are expressive—just like his mesh heads. So when you smile, the ears smile with you. When you frown, they go down. You become more than just an elf—you’re a feeling elf. Max told me that he is working on offering the opportunity for creators to put earrings on the ears but wanted to get these out for the Mesh Body Addicts Fair. Skin appliers are also being developed (I think I saw Lumae has come out with some already.) And you don’t have to just wear them with the Logo heads—they can be used with expression with other heads or your system head!

I did my best to dress up as the sort of elf I probably would be—pretty casual. With Tricky Boucher’s reconfigured Freya body, I was able to wear this darling shorts and top outfit from Giz Seorn that she is featuring at Shiny Shabby. It comes with an optional necklace and has a great summer vibe. I am not sure but I figure elven girls can have tattoos, so I used Lanna Cobalt’s pretty tat from the Mesh Body Addicts Fair to decorate my shoulders and wore lovely blossom earrings AvaGardner Kungler is featuring for The Crossroads Event. My skin applier, from Inka Mexicola, is also featured at the Crossroads Event and includes a nice set of lipsticks as an option. It comes with several brow options and looks fabulous on the Sadie head. I am so glad lonlysoule decided to include Omega appliers with her latest eyes for AnyBody. I hate having to mess with mesh eyes when the Logo head takes Omega appliers so easily. Finally, MissAllSunday Lemon made a darling, ear-revealing hair for Chapter Four. With bangs and two cute braids tied in their own bow, it’s a perfect elven ‘do.

La Primavera

In honor of spring, I went to the picturesque Black Kite sim to take today’s photos. Thalia Heckroth’s graceful gown creates the elegant column I wanted to create for my look, which centers around SinfulSky’s beautiful headpiece for MadPea Productions for the Gacha Garden. It’s the “Seed of Inspiration” piece for their collection and a most beautiful look for photographs. The only jewelry that could justify such a lovely piece is AvaKungler Gardner’s work, including a choker she features at her store and the lovely bracelet she made for this month’s We <3 RP.

AvengeStore is participating in the Buy Now event, which is taking place on Marketplace. Organized by a group of designers, it allows people to purchase exclusive items on Marketplace only. AvengeStore’s applier was made for a Logo head, presumably the Alex, but I chose to wear it on the Chloe. I actually tried it on all three heads and found it was gorgeous on every one of them, which is highly unusual for an applier (they all have such different shapes). Each one took on a different character wearing the skin, but I was most attracted to the freshness of the applier on the Chloe head and received several compliments as well. Mirja Mills’ gorgeous hair for Shiny Shabby was my natural choice for this look, lush and feminine. I was not happy about covering it with a headpiece at first but it was so ideal for this ensemble with tendrils framing the face, it was a perfect look for my primavera.

Spring is here! Get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air, the life all around you—live a little! I took a walk today at the MadPea Mainstore sim, a darling little town with a center square park that even includes a playground. Get a tattoo, fried chicken, a little local flavor—it’s a great urban space, which is hard to find in SL it seems. I wore a flirty little slip dress from Apple May that she is featuring at Shiny Shabby, a great fit on my Maitreya body. I paired Senzati0n Domenitzo’s gladiatorish sandals for Fameshed for a walk down the street—no heels for concrete. And a gorgeous necklace that AvaGardner Kungler came out with last month lies perfectly in the decolletage of the dress and I am wearing Mea Carnell’s bangle for Shiny Shabby to dress up the outfit and match my gold nails from Santana Lumiere.

I am wearing one of Lara Hurley’s beautiful appliers for the Logo mesh head, one that fits the head so beautifully and kind of hides that it is that particular head. I think the biggest problem people complain about the mesh heads is that they all “look alike,” but this applier shows that good artistry can make them quite unique. Paired with gorgeous eyes from Umazuma Metaluna and sexy wavy tossed hair from Mina Nakamura for Fameshed, and I am ready for the world, ready to live a little!

Dearly Beloved

I got teary-eyed like everyone else when I found out Prince had died. I grew up during his ascendancy—he was on my AM radio in my old Nova when I drove to work in high school. His album, 1999, was one of the first I bought when I read an outstanding interview in Rolling Stone (I was 13). When I first saw him in the video for “Little Red Corvette,” I was shocked by how sexy a man could be.

When I went to college in Minnesota, his live shows in the Cities were already reknowned. When he wrote, “Sometimes it snows in April,” I knew just what he was talking about (because it does up here). I am heartbroken that he passed after such a long winter—I am sure he would have greeted the spring with relief and happiness like the rest of us.

Best of all, Prince transcended race and gender and class more than anyone else. He didn’t run to LA but stayed in Minnesota, keeping his wealth there, and turn into a privileged fat cat, rather choosing to fight for the rights of artists to make an income and generously giving his artistry to other musicians. He loved women—sexually but also intellectually, spiritually, and of course, emotionally. He supported so many women artists (writing for them but also employing them) but also respected women. His masculinity was never threatened by women. And race kind of went away with Prince. The people who surrounded him were of all races and mixed, as he was.

By the way, my son was mortified when I blasted “Little Red Corvette” in the car yesterday while we were cruising down Lake Drive on our way home. He was doubly mortified when I explained that the song was full of sexual innuendo. Bahahaha!

This look has nothing and everything to do with Prince. Prince was, I think, about the future and imagined other lives and ways of being. So my girl here belongs on a space station. Start with the sexy dress from Unitedcolorsteam for ROMP, one that is sexy but even sexier on this otherworldly woman. I accessorized with a stellar necklace from AvaGardner Kungler and bangle from Mea Carnell, both for Shiny Shabby, which just opened. Senzati0n Domenitzo’s sexy gladiator pumps finish the look.

The real story here (besides my meandering about Prince) is the opening of Fantasy Faire. The sims are, as always, gorgeous and the generous content available with 100% donation to Relay for Life is incredible. MissAllSunday Lemon is offering three hairs in the Solar colorway as her donation, including this funky bob that has studs (which I made transparent with her HUD). Aikea Rieko is also at the Faire and debuting two sets of fantasy skins, one of which is inspired by galaxies of stars and comes in many different color combos. She also offers almost any kind of applier you can imagine and I chose to use the Logo Alex head, which shows the skin beautifully. I honestly think a sexy space girl like this would catch Prince’s eye.

I want to say up front, “Thank you, Syn Beresford, for letting people rez at Elysion.” I keep going back again and again to take photos because Syn, a graphic designer in RL, has such a great eye for spaces, and I want to take photos all over her sim! ROMP has just opened and while some of the stuff there pushes the limits, you will also find some great fashions. Check out this sexy outfit from Aikeo Rieko, which includes a top and skirt. Aikeo is a goddess with colors, combining things to create sexy looks, like this wine complimented with a dark plum. I accessorized with gladiator-style heels from Senzati0n Domenitzo for the Black Fashion Fair. And my cuffs are truly functional cuffs, part of a beautifully elaborate collar set from Titsuki Yuitza for ROMP, scripted to include a leash. I wear just the gorgeous cuffs here.

Nicole Button has made a fabulous skin set for the Logo head and how sexy is it? I am glad she did because her skins are sophisticated and sensuous, with full luscious lips, and honestly, I needed to get this Logo head back on. The expressions are the best of the mesh heads. Not a lot of people realize, but the eyes and mouths are independent of each other so you can click eyes on one set and the mouth on another to combine expressions. I did that with this look. My hair is MissAllSunday Lemon’s beautiful look for Hairology, a very loose almost-braid over one shoulder.

I just got tickets to see Andrew Bird, and I am thrilled. So of course, I feature a song from Andrew Bird for my blog. (And I also got tickets for Sturgill Simpson, so I am just one spoiled girl this spring.) Of course, a love song should be written for this gorgeous dress from leenfantterrible (who is not French, apparently), fit perfectly to the Maitreya body and with a great flower motif at the hem and a beautiful spring color that exudes sunniness and chic. I paired Maxi Gossamer’s newest necklace for Collabor88 with the look and sexy strappy heels from Saki Galliazo that have a HUD that let me match them to the look. A little handbag with posies from Juno Martel finishes off my look.

The Skin Fair opens to everyone tomorrow, but today was a preview for Skin Addiction members (among others). The sims were jam packed with people, and here’s hoping it will abate so the rest of the grid can attend. Below are maps and central landmarks:

It’s really important to make sure you get the right applier for the right Logo head because they vary so much. (A few weeks ago I tried an applier made for the Alex head on the just-released Sadie, and I would say it didn’t come out well).

This is one of those mega blog entries that just about puts me under. The RFL Home & Garden Expo is packed full of amazing things and I want to show them all, so I crammed select pieces into a gorgeous little treehouse from Kathy Greymoon. My living room is comprised of donation items for RFL, including an industrial table from Bethesa Hancroft, a rug from Tess Spargel, an original painting from Sarah Gantt, a gacha polaroid display from xMister Dash, a lovely Japanese lute from Ryo Ixxel, and one of the darling yoga frogs from Garvie Garzo. My plush sofa and chair are ValiantCo’s contribution to Fameshed this month.

Slide around the corner and find Aki Shichiroji’s orchid terrarium on Loz Hyde’s Paris-themed chest of drawers with one of jiuis32’s full perm frames. There is a whole section of full perm items at the Expo this year, which I spent a fair amount of time perusing. Sometimes I get frustrated and want my own frame with my own texture or to create gifts for friends and full perm can fulfill that need. (It’s not just for reselling!) I found quite a few things that struck my fancy!

Chic Aeon has made a collection of book lover pieces for her gacha at the Expo, and I rather liked the idea of books piled around my house (read or to-be-read). Propped on top is a sunny pitcher of daffodils from Chiana0 and Sisterbutta’s hunt item. I want to note that everything I show contributes, if not 100% donation to RFL, at least a portion. This house is built from love.

My dining room is a place of comfort and joy. I used Liz Gaelich’s gateleg table, (which comes in closed and open versions) as my main table, flanking it with Cory Edo’s chairs for Collabor88. Sisterbutta’s whimsical and beautiful floating paper cranes serve as my centerpiece. Chiana0 made the lovely dark wood hutch and plates that line the hutch. I always like chairs as a piece of art and décor so Akahata’s awesome skyline chair and Sisterbutta’s lovely neoclassical armchair decorate as well as provide seating. DanielEstro always makes his pieces in grays with modify so I feel free to color pieces as I see fit and I warmed up his “Hope” wreath with color. A pretty lamp and wall hanging from Isabelli Anatine bookends the scene with Kasslina’s exquisite and unique antler chandelier lighting the space. Another pretty rug from Tess Spargel gathers it all together.

Shiny Shabby opens today with their first anniversary round and I look forward to showing more items in the next few weeks but I couldn’t help donning Sora Tatham’s denim-based dress. With a texture-change HUD included, you can switch up the top and scarf for different color combos. Boots from Katat0nik Pidgeon fit men or women and are completely modifiable for size as they are not rigged (whew). Elikapeka Tiramisu is also joining in on the fun for the first anniversary with this full bob for Shiny Shabby.

I got my hands on the new Omega-ready Sadie head from Maximillion Grant that he has been promising his pleading customers for a few months. It’s finally done! Since Max had to retrofit his HUDs to be Omega ready and redo all the layers, it took some time. I tried Monicuzza Babenco’s new Logo applier for the Alex head on this one with mixed results. I think we are going to have to wait for Sadie-themed skins to come out for it to look good. For example, Moni compensated for Alex’s full lips by making them thinner but on the thinner lips of the Sadie, it doesn’t look the best. I will keep experimenting, dear readers. Just get yourself to the RFL Home & Garden Expo and donate til it hurts!

In the Dark

A little foray into the dark, a soft sexy dark with this tank dress from Aikea Rieko that is open up the sides and flirty in all the best ways. I’ve tried it and it works!

I am wearing Deesselle Destiny’s gorgeous skin on the Logo Alex head. I have been doing a lot of Catwa skins lately and I really wanted to go back to the Logo head and I am glad to show this gorgeous skin on the Alex shape, which seems to suit it quite a bit. Deesselle includes different brow colors on the HUD. However, Calico Ingmann’s bangs cover these brows so I can peek out sexily from behind them, my lush hair that she is featuring at Hairology in lush ringlets. Future Tense

A lot of speculation happens in chat groups about who will be doing what and releasing, who is fixing and rereleasing, what LL is doing with SL. People are always anxious for the next thing, the upgrade, or they worrying about the changes and often complain about the now. My attitude is, I can’t do much about it. Best to enjoy what I have now—a great new skin, awesome sims to check out, no more hair up my butt when I tp, and 60 groups! (I need more!)

And today I have a future look, built around a few pieces that are being sold at Collabor88. First there is the great little bodysuit from erratic Rain, a mesh piece fit right to the Maitreya mesh body and available in several colors and translucencies. I love the see-through look and the fit. Then there are earrings from Zaara Kohime, fit to the standard avatar and a couple mesh heads so they can be rigged and move with the avatar body. With her always brilliant textures, they are a beautiful addition to this future look. I accessorized with a bracelet from AvengeStore that she is selling at OMGacha in several different colorways, ombre tights from BigBeautifulDoll, and hot little gogo boots from Maxi Gossamer.

Kavar Cleanslate is offering this funky wild ‘do at Collabor88 this month, and of course I could not resist going to one of his Wild Fusion textures to make my hair look awesome. Audrey Lamede is offering a set of great eyes at the The Men’s Dept this month so I ran over to get the fatpack. Doubtless I will be using them over and over. Lara Hurley has managed to transform the features of the Logo Alex mesh head in a way no one else has managed, reshaping the lips and the nose so they take on a new look altogether. I really love the features of the Logo Alex head like the expressions and now the Omega makeups but it’s very recognizable with some skins. This skin seems to breeze past that constraint. That’s skill! Lara includes some beautiful eye and lip makeups that apply separately (updated Omega). I am really loving this skin.

The Knot

After Christmas is always a little melancholy. The festivities of the day shroud the fact that some can’t be with you—a loved one, a family member. You might go to bed alone at the end of the evening, still a little tipsy on brandy alexanders, tummy full, and think about those you have missed. My bedroom is the perfect place for cozy reminiscing. With Sway Dench’s romantic bedroom set for Uber, including a bunch of texture sets and metals and romantic animations, I find solace in my aloneness. My fireplace set from Paco Pooley for Shiny Shabby also provides warmth in my bedroom on the upper floor of Cory Edo’s skybox for Collabor88.

Romantic reminiscing is sexier with lingerie from Sands Leavitt’s exclusive for Uber, a custom mesh body shaper created for several mesh bodies and in the standard system shapes. With gossamer side panels and intricate lace leg openings, the piece is gorgeous. Accompanying it is a robe with lace sleeves and hem, a perfect top for wearing the piece around the house.

MissAllSunday Lemon has finally embraced HUDs for hair coloring! I almost hugged her across the grid when I received this new hair with my inventory-busting HUDs, a great updo for casual or romantic wear with tendrils slipping out about the face. She has recreated over 100 textures and included roots with her colors. I chose Steffi Villota’s soft and lovely skin for the Logo Alex mesh head for my romantic, longing look. With subtle lipgloss from Alaska Metropolitan’s new HUDs (that incorporate the revised Omega zoning), I have a look that is soft and beautiful.
